While he was daydreaming, Ian stood at the door waiting. “Uh Rémy—if we don’t go now, we won’t be able to do the full circuit.”
“Sorry, I was wool gathering. Let’s get our smoothie and get downstairs to work out.” Ian happily followed Rémy down the stairs. Rémy noticed that Ian laughed more often, and he didn’t get those tiny frown lines at the corner of his eyes anymore. He was making his Mate happy. He had bloomed under the attention he received from people who cared about him. Ian lived the last four years starved for any kind of tenderness.
After their workout, they ate a hearty breakfast. Rémy knew that Ian’s metabolism was getting more efficient. With all the food he was eating, Ian thought he would gain weight. But he gained nary a pound.
Rémy was ready to leave before Ian. “I’m coming to lunch today. I’ll bring enough Chinese for the painters too. What do you like?”
