Chapitre 39: [Chapter:38][Teachers and Students.]

"…"

"…"

"…"

Breakfast was unexpectedly silent as the only sound was that of chopsticks touching bowls.

There was really nothing much to be said, as the silent yet surprisingly peaceful breakfast ended soon enough.

"Let's go take a bath~~!"

Shizuka didn't forget Echo's words as she pushed the girls into the bath, which was larger than most public bath-houses. As for the men, Takuzo and Kohta approached Echo nervously.

"U-umm…"

"Mister…can you…can you teach us how to shoot like you?"

Kohta took in a deep and long breath, trying to gather his courage, before quickly saying his piece. Takuzo remained silent and stood behind him, and the both of them bowed their heads towards Echo.

As for Echo…

'The Quest isn't here yet?'

((A new Quest has been generated.))

'Ah, there it is.'

By now, Echo had more or less determined the conditions for Quest generation. It wasn't anything complex, really.

As long as it had some effect towards a large number of people or the world in general, and as long as it is something new or challenging to the [Gamer], a Quest would be generated.

For instance, the newest Quest…

. . . . . .

[Troop Training]

Type : Repeatable

Description : Train your troops in any skill.

Objective : Make target level up skill(s) to Max level

Reward : 300% EXP per target per skill

. . . . . .

Echo's eyes flashed as he looked at the Quest.

'So as long as I help them level up a skill, even if it's a level 99 skill to level Max, I'll get 3 levels?'

And since it was repeatable, it meant that, for the two boys before him, teaching them and letting them level up skills such as 'Gun Mastery', 'Aiming', 'Precision', and 'Reload' would get him a total of 8*3 which is 24 levels.

'And it isn't just the boys…'

There were, after all, only two boys in the group other than him, while the female population was much, much larger.

Counting them all…

'Yuuki, Saeko, Naomi, Misuzu, Toshimi, Rei, Saya, Taniuchi, Kawamoto, Kyoko, Shizuka, and these two, for a total of 13 people.'

Echo quickly calculated the numbers.

'If I teach them all the basics of shooting…13*4 is 52. I can also teach them all the 'Close Quarters Combat' skill, and another weapon skill, either 'Sword Mastery', 'Spear Mastery', or 'Dagger Mastery'…all of them should have the 'Driving' skill just in case…'

'Anomalous Mind' worked overtime as he quickly finished the calculations.

'I can complete the Quest at least 7 times for each of the 13 people, for a total of 91 times…with 300% EXP reward, that's 273 levels. And I can also complete the 'Survival of the Fittest' Quest, which is another 13 Lottery Tickets…'

Echo felt his lips curl up to form a grin, his usual, horrifying grin if the terrified expressions on Kohta's and Takuzo's faces were any indication…

"Sure I'll teach you. In fact, after the girls come out, tell them too. To be prepared for hell."

He disappeared from his spot, not really bothering to 'hide' his power as he had never bothered to from the beginning.

As for the two boys, Kohta and Takuzo felt a shiver run up their spines as a single thought passed through their minds.

'What have we done…?'

. . . . . .

. . . . . .

Echo looked at the thirteen people who nervously stood before him and smiled. Though it seemed only a purple haired and another orange haired woman liked his smile, as the rest, even the ever bubbly nurse, shivered.

"I'm going to teach you all how to fight. And that includes all of you. I'm investing quite a lot into this, so if you fail me, I'll be throwing you into a hoard of zombies without even the clothes on your bodies. Am I clear?"

At the same time, he used the new sub-skill of 'Anomalous Mind' to pressure them, making them stiffen.

As for the investments Echo mentioned? One would have to take a peek at his Status to understand that.

. . . . . .

. . . . . .

Of course, it wasn't only for them that he decided to learn the 'Teaching(I)' skill. Even when he goes back home, he would be able to help Rhi, Leah, and even his mother Aya in levelling up useful skills which can't be levelled up quickly.

Although he couldn't help level them up without the 'Party' Function, he could at least help them level their skills up.

And the increase in tier of 'Anomalous Mind' not only brought him another method of combat, though he doubted he'd use it anytime soon as Echo found himself liking ranged combat more than close combat, it also increased the bonus, making his 'Enhanced Mental Processing' faster as well.

Well, it was slow now compared to before since the bonus was reset, but it'll get faster soon enough.

"First things first, all of you should learn how to use guns."

He didn't give them the chance to refuse as he brought out several loaded and cleaned firearms from his Inventory. These were all weapons they had looted from the police booths they had gone to the previous day.

"Pick them up. These are called pistols, and are different from revolvers…"

Although theoretical knowledge wasn't as important when actually shooting, his 'Teaching' skill didn't differentiate between importance as anything related to guns would help them in learning and raising their 'Gun Mastery' skills.

Sure enough, in just three minutes, all of them had 'Gun Mastery' in their skill lists.

"Pistols are usually the easiest to use. Reloading them, aiming, it's all clear and easy to do. All in all, you only need to remember two things."

He pulled up a pistol and showed it to the thirteen people who had their minds so pressured, that they couldn't even afford being distracted, solely focusing on Echo's words echoing within their minds.

"Point the barrel towards the bad guy, and pull the trigger. Simple right?"

The group somehow nodded, making him grin.

"Good. Then, you should be able to survive this with just the guns in your hands, right?"

Suddenly, they all had a bad premonition. The mental pressure making them tremble disappeared, but their hearts didn't feel relief as they paled instead.

The reason for that is obviously the hundreds of zombies that slowly yet surely moved towards their current position, lead by a skeleton holding a recorder playing music loudly.

"NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP~"

"…"

"Does this count as being Rickrolled?", someone asked the rather stupid question as both Echo and the skeleton disappeared, and the hundreds of zombies looked at the only available target.

"…"

"…"

"Saya…"

"…yes?"

"They will ignore us if we stay silent, right…?"

Just as Rei finished her words,

"NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN~"

*roar!*

"I fucking hate that song!"

"Shoot! Open fire!"

. . . . . .

. . . . . .

Echo looked at the group of thirteen people desperately fighting against the incoming hoard of zombies and nodded in satisfaction.

"Although I'm not actively teaching them anymore, the skill bonus still applies. And training in live combat increased the rate at which they get skill EXP…"

Looking at the various skills in their skill lists rapidly levelling up, even though the rate of increase wasn't nearly close to Echo's thanks to his insane EXP bonuses, Echo smiled.

"At this rate, it won't take them more than a week to finish levelling up those four skills to the max level."

And Kohta, with experience in using guns, might finish up in just two days, Echo noted.

"Of course, that's if I don't increase my 'Teaching' skill's tier…"

Looking at his Status, where both his 'Teaching(I)' skill and his 'Teacher' Job levelled up rapidly thanks to his various EXP bonuses, Echo grinned.

'My current skills are sufficient for now, so I'll raise 'Teacher' to tier 3 before anything else.'

Thinking so, Echo continued looking at the group fighting for their lives, his arms never slacking as he also simultaneously hunted down all the zombies in his vast range with his bow. Of course, he also saved the group members whenever one of them messed up.

'Each of you is worth several levels and a lottery ticket, maybe more if I get any more quests in the future. I can't have you dying so soon, now can I?'

Just then, a strange glint flashed through his eyes as he vision shifted to a group of bike riders approaching their position from a street away.

"Finally, I can complete this Quest."

Echo looked at the 'Dark Side' Quest, a part of the 'Screw the Plot' Chain Quest, and smiled.

"Although the rewards aren't so attractive, a lottery ticket and a Pokémon egg…"

Speaking of, he looked at his Inventory and brought out the Incubator he received in his previous lottery, and placed one of his Pokémon Eggs in it.

Then, he took out the Magic Containment Gem that he had been feeding his mana to for a few hours now and looked at its current Mana capacity.

[[11,537,280/1,000,000,000]]

"11 million, more than enough for the Eggs I have.", he muttered to himself as he looked at the 3 Eggs he had, 4 if he counted the future Quest reward he would soon get.

Placing the Gem together with the Egg in the Incubator, Echo watched as the energy requirement quickly changed from 0/1,000,000 to 1/1,000,000, to 2, 3, 4, and so on.

"At this rate, the mana requirement would be full in less than a week. So only a hundred days in the Incubator are left."

Unfortunately, he only had 1 Incubator, meaning he would have to wait for a whole 400 days to hatch all four eggs.

Echo stored the Incubator along with the Egg and the Gem in his Inventory, and nodded as he saw the process go on instead of freezing.

"It looks like I can control whether or not time for things in the Inventory passes."

Just then, the bikers arrived in the same street as the group, and just in time too as the group finally managed to clear out all the zombies.

Looking at the bikers approach the group, who quickly upped their guard at the approaching people, Echo grinned as he took out a bucket of popcorn from his Inventory.

"I'm all *munch* ready for the *munch* show *munch*"
