When Bob returned from town, Jackie felt a sense of relief seeing Nabeela again. The family was reunited and seemed to have put the incident behind them.
Bob could see that Jackie was still shaking from the experience. He put his arm around her as they walked toward the Lexus. It was time to head back to town.
As he had promised the girls, Bob drove to Ye Olde Smokehouse for brunch. It did offer the charm of an old colonial establishment and they took a table on the terrace of Scott’s restaurant.
By then, Nabeela had forgotten all about her little mishap and both girls were gorging themselves ravenously, recharging after the long hike. They polished off their brunch without a word.
After the meal, Tengku strolled to the edge of the garden for a cigar while the girls ran around the lawn without a care in the world.
As Jackie and Bob chatted with Sharifah over tea, a call came in for Bob. He looked at the screen and frowned. He had forgotten all about returning Reginald’s call.
