I watched how the coffin was lowered into the ground. People around me cried while I couldn’t shed a single tear.

“What are we gonna do?”

“Who’s gonna take care of her?”

I looked around with dull eyes, but everyone avoided my gaze. It made sense. Who would want to take care of me? No one knew who my dad was and my mom never told anyone. And now she’s dead and I’m left alone. I have no one in this world.

“Are you Railey?”

I turned around to see a tall man with a suit. He was a handsome man with his light brown hair gelled back. His dark brown eyes carried no emotion as he looked at me.

“I ask again. Are you Railey?”

I didn’t say anything but I nodded.

“Come with me.” He said as he held out his hand. “You won’t be alone if you come with me.”

I looked at his hand and was hesitant to take it until I heard a soft voice. ‘Take the hand.’
