Chapitre 29: Beast tide

He looked at Roan and Morris, trying to confirm if what he said was true. Both of them nodded, they came to the same conclusion too.

Roan wanted to suggest the team to follow the crimson wolf. He needed to hunt more intermediate tier beast to know if the system would upgrade or not.

It felt like a itch which you could not soothe, he could feel the bloodline upgrade coming close but it did not.

'They are very cautious. If I suggest them to follow the crimson wolf then they will directly reject for fear of more beasts gathering there'

'But I need to gain more exp points. I don't know for sure but maybe using beast crystal to increase my exp might upgrade my bloodline' Roan thought

He guessed it before but he could only confirm it by killing another intermediate tier beast.

If killing the beast does not give him instant level then it would mean only the beast crystal would do.

'Either for the instant kill or the beast crystal I would have to kill the beast under both of the circumstances.' He thought

For the fear of his teammates rejection, he did not ask them to follow the beast immediately.

He waited for a minute standing in silence. Morris was thinking what to do next. Jasper was also conflicted about the decision to make.

They had also guessed that it was very likely that the place where the crimson wolf was rushing to, might have another beasts.

They could easily come to a conclusion. From how empty the jungle seemed, it felt like every beast have evacuated from the jungle.

It was hard to even spot a basic tier beast in the jungle.

"Do you have any idea what can attract all the beasts of jungle irrespective of their tiers?" Jasper asked Morris

Earlier he could spot some random basic tier beasts but now even those beasts were not present.

"I am only 90% sure but it is likely to be a case of beast tide. When lots of beast die and no one claims their beast crystal for any reason then the crystals fuse and grow into a very powerful crystal or a plant"

"Formation of such crystal takes time that means there is low chances of a beast crystal being the reason for beast tide."

"This is likely to be a case of parasitic plant beast being born. These beasts are formed with the remains of beast and their crystals."

"It easy very easy to breakthrough from intermediate tier to advance tier with consumption of such plant. All the nearby beasts must have rushed to it." Morris briefly explained

"How can they know that there is parasitic plan born in a distance?" Jasper asked Morris.

'It is understandable that there are some beasts who unintentionally go for the beast plant but why would all of them go there.'

'They are not that smart to communicate. They are only intermediate tier at most'

'Even if some of them are smart enough to communicate then why would they inform others of an extraordinary beast plant which they can consume' Jasper kept thinking

"It must be the smell released from plant or might be a sign which only beasts know of" Morris said not being sure of reason

"What are we going to do then? Look into it?" Lucas asked. He wanted to know if others had the idea of rushing in the tide of beast for hunting.

"There are not any beasts in this area which means we will have to go very far to find one. We don't even know if beasts in other area are attracted to the plant" Roan said.

He wanted to convince them to follow up the crimson wolf. But he could not directly force them to do so.

He could not hold anymore when he listened to what Lucas said. He wanted to indirectly persuade them in following the crimson wolf.

"What do you guys think? There will be more than dozens of beast there. Do you all want to go?" Morris asked replying to Lucas

He was not an idiot. How could he not know what Roan was thinking. Roan was very strong and did not need to fear any beast below advance tier.

He could not just rush in the beast tide just because of one person that's why he asked for opinion from others.

If a mishap happened then no one would be able to blame him for making the decision.

Hearing what Morris said, Roan knew that Morris is likely to decide against following the crimson wolf.

However, he still waited for other three to state their opinion.

"I want to go and check out the area. We would not need to search for beasts then." Lucas replied to Morris

He still remembered what they discussed earlier about the ranking competition. They needed a minimum of 15 intermediate tier beast crystal to rank 1 in the group ranking.

He did not want to waste time searching for new intermediate tier beast when he could easily find a dozen of them.

Hearing Lucas's answer made Roan relieved. He felt that at least one of his teammates was good in making decision.

'This fellow is a little dumb and does strange things but he at least gave an good answer now.' Roan thought

He was sure that at least one more person would have the same view as his. He looked at Jasper and Jennie waiting for their decision.

"I think it's worth going. We cannot find beast in nearby area. It is better to follow the direction the crimson wolf went to." Jasper answered

'With Jasper making the decision there are already four people going to the beasts with only Morris left.'

'Even if he decides not to go then there are already four people willing to rush in the forest' Roan thought

Jasper not only made a decision for himself but also for his sister. His words counted for two people increasing the number of people wanting to follow the beast to four.

Morris only nodded and did not say anything. It was clear that everyone wanted to follow the little wolf.

It did not matter whether he stated his opinion or not. Majority of the team except for Morris already decided to check the jungle.

Morris started sprinting in the direction the crimson wolf went. Everyone else followed him running at same pace.

Running for 10 to 20 kilometers was not a big issue for them. Everyone of them already had more than double of ordinary human stats.

Roan did not even use wind path, he only ran with his physical strength. He had total of 19 stats points in each field.

He could run maximum at 120 km per hour in speed. His agility was four times of a normal adult human.

(Stats of normal humans are maximum 5 point in each field)

If not for his limited stamina that limited his maximum speed for only 9 minutes of use then he could be running all day alone to search and kill beasts himself.

He could also use wind path to double his speed which with his max speed could increase his speed to almost 200 km per hour but for a very limited time.

He could not sustain the exhaustion of both his stamina and energy simultaneously. He could only last for little more than 3 minutes.

He followed others with a normal speed, not breaking a sweat.

Soon they passed the dense jungle. The number of trees decreased and vast land without population could be seen.

It was not a grass field, there were only some unrecognizable trees with lots of distance between them.

They were rushing in the direction the crimson wolf ran but could not find any signs of it.

They ran for nearly ten minutes but did not find any movement of other beasts either.

Lucas had some doubt about the direction they were rushing in but he did not say anything.

Jasper and Morris were also looking for hints or traces left by any beast but they could not find any.

After another five minutes of running in that direction, they suddenly heard a blast of large margin and a beast howl.

The sound a beast howling and an explosion of large are came from the direction they were running to.

The sound made their anxieties vanish. They could at least be sure that they were rushing in right direction.

The did not want a mutated crystal but they wished to kill some intermediate tier beasts.

The sound of beast howling made it cleat that there were beasts fighting in that location. From the radius of their attacks it seemed likely to be an intermediate tier or above.

By the sound of blast, it was very likely to be an attack on the same level of Jasper's full energy attack. The full energy attack that crippled two intermediate tier beasts.

They all looked at each other and quickly took covers from trees. They understood that they reached the area.

They could not run freely like they did before. The beasts were fighting among themselves. Regardless of the reason, they would not be kind to an invasion of a whole another race.

The trees in there were very distanced from each other making it hard for people to sneakily move.

"Why don't we run openly? After we get close to the beasts then we would take covers and form a plan" Lucas said.

He truly felt it was useless to hide when they were not even close to seeing the beasts.

Others also understood his points but they did not wish to risk exposing themselves to beasts.

None of them replied to Lucas, leaving him awkward. He did not further suggest anything and quietly followed others.

They did not walk any more than two minutes and a beast was already rushing to them.

It was a giant salamander of green color. The green salamander was rushing toward their direction in its full speed.

One of its hind leg was bleeding. The blood from the wound stained the beast's leg from green to a blood red.

'It seems the attack just now was used on this giant salamander' Roan thought

He did not see any severe burns from the explosion on the salamander's body but it was easy for him to guess that the beast must have high recovery abilities.

Others also looked at the salamander with same thought. They had hunted enough beasts for them to truly understand how ridiculously high a beast's recovery ability was.

'The salamander has shown itself then where is the beast who attacked it?' Roan thought

'Of course the beast would not randomly run in a direction for nothing.' He quickly looked behind the salamander to check for another beast.

He glanced at Morris who was two meters away from him and asked in low voice.

"Morris, can you see what is chasing the giant salamander?" Roan asked

Morris who was hiding not daring to look glanced at Roan and shook his head. He did not even dare to speak afraid that he would be found out.

Roan quickly looked at his left and asked Lucas same question.

Lucas did not even look at him. He was standing against the tree and did not even move.

"Hey, are you listening? Lucasss?" Roan asked but did not get any response

'This idiot, can not even bear seeing a beast' Roan shook his head thinking of Lucas's guts and abilities.

Not long after he looked at Jasper hoping to get answer but then suddenly froze.

He looked at Jasper who was looking at the sky with shocked eyes and did not even dare to move.

Jasper was looking at the sky with his head tilted at 50 degree. Only the sound of gudong gudong of his heartbeat could be heard.

He glanced at where Jasper was looking at and felt so scared seeing an eye that he too stopped moving.

Roan, Jasper, and Lucas all stopped moving and stood still. The giant salamander with wounded leg was still rushing toward them.
