After a few seconds of silence, the man roared. His arms and legs bulged, as he grew fur. His face elongated into wolfish features. He then leapt forward al Alvin, with his claws gleaming with a cold black light
"Werewolf" recognised Alvin as he threw himself back. The claws of the Werewolf contained venom. While he could resist it for a while because he himself was a Sequence 7, he preferred not to be infected if possible.
Alvin tried to dodge, but the Werewolf which was running forwards, compared to Alvin who was stuffing himself backwards in the cramped tunnel, quickly reached him and slashed its claws towards his throat.
Alvin quickly pulled out one of the shock-absorbing plates given to him by the Machinery Hivemind and threw it towards the Werewolf. The plate expanded into a shield, and blocked the attack of the Werewolf. Alvin borrowed the momentum thus produced to go backwards, when spinning around to be able to run away from the Werewolf.
Alvin ran down the tunnel away from the Werewolf, and his female companion as fast s possible. He knew that the possible Sequence 6 Judge who would have undoubtedly now discovered the secret tunnel may be waiting up ahead, but he didn't like his chances against a physically superior Werewolf, not to mention his companion who may be any Sequence inside the cramped tunnel.
Sure enough, as he progressed towards the end of the tunnel, he saw the imposing figure he saw earlier.
Alvin did not slow down a single step, as he stuck the Fleet-Footed charm on himself and then used the Steam-Pressure charm.
The charm exploded, sending a higher pressure steam shooting in either direction of the cramped tunnel. This briefly impaired the vision of the two opponents, and made them distracted due to the pain caused by the high temperature steam. Alvin, bolstered by the Fleet-Footed charm, performed a series of acrobatics to skillfully and silently kick off the walls and vault over the Sequence 6 Beyonder's head. He felt another attack launched by the Judge as he was vaulting over him, but he tossed out another shock-absorbing plate to block most of it.
He felt some of his ribs break, but with the outstanding constitution of a Hunter, he bore it and kept running. He could vaguely hear the sounds of the Werewolf and the Judge clashing behind him as he ran.
Alvin soon reached the end of the tunnel, and he barreled right out. He took a quick look around, to see 2 people moving the gunpowder to the side.
"Think fast!" Alvin yelled as he pulled out both his revolvers and intermittently fired at the crates of gunpowder. He then proceeded to use the residual strength of the Fleet-Footed charm to barrel out towards the room with the safe, grabbing one crate of gunpowder and taking it with him.
One of the men, who was obviously from the Black Emperor pathway yelled, "Distort" and all the bullets started curving sideways as they harmlessly plonked against the walls.
"A Baron of Corruption's Distortion" thought Alvin, as he dodged the knife thrown by the other person and jumped into the opening that was the passageway back towards the room with the safe.
He had identified a Werewolf, a Judge, and a Baron of Corruption, and that was not considering the woman with the Werewolf and the guy who chucked the knife at him. He wanted to get out of the factory fast, as he had a great chance of losing them in the complicated streets in the vicinity. As soon as he went into the tunnel, he dropped the gunpowder near the entrance, and shot at it as he ran away.
He was flung forward by the impact, and mildly injured, but he ignored it and kept tumbling down the tunnel.
Soon, he reached the end of the tunnel and reached back into the room where he, Blondie and Goatee fought. Goatee was still lying there looking banged up, but he was getting better, thanks to the mystical item in the form of the red ring that was now back on a different finger.
And to his surprise, he found Blondie there as well. He was using some tools to try and open the safe, which was basically the only thing intact in the room.
Seeing Alvin hurriedly running out of the tunnel, Blondie figured out what was happening, and cursing, he abandoned the safe and ran towards a wall.
Alvin could hear crashing sounds behind him, which was probably his pursuers coming after him.
Alvin realised that he had zero chance of outrunning his pursuer, especially if it was the Sequence 6 Baron of Corruption chasing him.
Hence, Alvin rapidly thought of the best course of action. He quickly went up to the unconscious Goatee, and stripped him of his outer coat, and removed his healing ring. He then tossed him through the illusory door that Blondie opened on the wall. From the previous time he went through it, he noticed that it would remain open for a second even after Blondie passed through, so he used his opportunity to toss Goatee through.
He then wore the overcoat, smeared himself with blood, and used the power of the Lifesaver to imitate the banged up appearance of Goatee and lay down in the ground, in the exact same position. He curled up what was supposed to be his severed finger, and wore the red mystical item that healed in exchange for rationality, betting he could retain his rationality for a short while.
After a couple of seconds, the Baron of Corruption came out of the tunnel into the room. He played around, landing his eyes on Alvin, who was pretending to be Goatee.
Goatee's face was unrecognisable after what Blondie and Alvin put him through. Hence, the Baron of Corruption took a quick look at what seemed to be the only identifiable features of Goatee, his seemingly severed finger, the red ring mystical item, and his outer coat. After this he looked away.
Someone ran into the room through the main door. The Baron of Corruption asked, "Did you see the guy that ran past here?"
The man that came in replied, "I am hearing movement in that direction. He must have fled there" pointing at the wall that Blondie had escaped through.
The Baron nodded, and they both ran out of the room in that direction.
