Chapitre 13: Chapter 013- The Phoenix Trial
After Feng Baichuan left, a pairs of majestic phoenix eyes appeared before them. The phoenix spirit carefully looked at them and said, "Hmm...You two are quite strong for your age. As long as you two don't make any deliberate mistake, both of you should be fine during the trial."
"So, do you want to take the test together or one at a time?"
"Before I answer your question, can I ask something?" Ling yun asked in a respectful tone since he doesn't want to create any unnecessary conflict. As for Xia qingyue, she just stayed quite and decided to follow Ling yun's lead.
"Ask what you want to ask." The phoenix spirit replied.
"Is there a way to get all the phoenix blood you have?" Ling yun asked hoping for a positive answer.
But he was soon disappointed as the phoenix replied in negative, "No, you will get the amount of blood your body manages to store."
Ling yun's disappointment didn't last long as he thought,
*After changing my profound veins, maybe my blood will have the same effect as phoenix's.*

"Venerable phoenix spirit, we both will take the test at the same time," Ling yun said after discussing with Xia qingyue.
Hearing their answer, the phoenix spirit nodded and teleported them to the first trial ground.
They encountered a purgatory flame demon there. Ling yun and Xia qingyue defeated it without much trouble and moved on to the second trial.
There they faced with large number of arrows of phoenix. With some difficulty, they managed to pass this trial as well and finally managed to reach the third trial.
[AN: I left out the details assuming most of you guys will not be that interested. I, myself am tired of reading the trials several times in other ffs.]
The third trial is called test of character. It is constructed through the practitioner's most pleasant memories from in the depths of their soul. It is exactly the same as the real person, item or event and they'll have to face it as if everything was real.
If they hurt the person who they loved the most just to achieve strength and even if it doesn't mean that they're evil, they will fail.

"Congratulations, you two have managed to pass the first two trials. This is the last trial and if you manage to pass it as well, you will get the phoenix bloodline." The phoenix spirit said.
She added, "You have to take this trial personally. So, which one of you is going to try first?"
Ling yun looked at Xia qingyue and whispered into her ear, "You go first. The phoenix spirit is going to put you into an illusion to test your character. So, you must remember not to attack or harm the person in the illusion even if that person does anything to you."
Xia qingyue nodded and stepped forward to take the trial first.

Seeing Xia qingyue stepping forward, the phoenix spirit started the third trial. But before she could invade xia qingyue's mind, she became astonished as she saw not only the 'Nine profound exquisite body' but also the 'Heart of snow glazed glass' in a body of a single person.
*I can't believe that this girl has two divine bodies in her!! What should I do now? From what I know, if a person harms the possessor of heart of snow glazed glass, that person will suffer the punishment of the heaven's way. Even though I am not trying to harm her by invading her mind, I can't take the risk.* At the end, the phoenix spirit decided to pass her without taking any test.
*Moreover, a person with a heart of snow glazed glass shouldn't be a bad person, right!? Not to mention, she has unlimited potential and worthy of being the inheritor of phoenix.* The phoneix spirit tried to make excuses in her mind as to why she was going to give the phoenix blood without taking the test.
"You pass." The Phoenix spirit said to Xia qingyue.
"Huh!? What about the trial? I didn't even take it yet!" Xia qingyue asked in a confused manner. She was really bewildered as to why the phoenix spirit would let her pass without taking the trial.
"I am the one who is taking the trials. If I say you passed, it means you passed. Do you have any problem with that?" The phoenix spirit said in a powerful tone voice in order to hide her embarrassment.
*I can't just tell her that I was afraid to take the trial, right!?* The Phoenix spirit shed some internal tears and hoped that the girl wouldn't ask anymore question.
"Oh, ok!" Xia qingyue didn't bother to argue. Why would she? After all, it was favorable for her as she was getting the phoenix bloods without needing to pass the third trial.
Hearing her reply, the phoenix spirit sighed in relief and asked Ling yun to come forward in order to take the test.

"I'm ready." Ling yun said as he came forward.
The Phoenix spirit was in a depressing mood because of the last incident. But when she tried to invade the soul of Ling yun, her expression turned shocked and then into horror.
She tried to invade Ling yun's soul several times. But every time she would be bounced back without managing to even take a glimpse of his memory.
*T..This!!! What kind of soul is this!? I have never seen a soul having such a powerful defence in my whole existent. Even if my real body was present, she wouldn't have been able to invade this soul.*
"WHO ARE YOU?" The phoenix spirit said in a high pitched voice as she couldn't hide her shock after seeing such heaven defying thing.
Her whole life combined, this maybe the first time she got this much shock. If someone told her back when she was alive that a mortal has a soul that's defence is even higher than dragon god's soul, she would have took it as a joke.
But now, she saw it with her own eyes. Even though her mind is telling her that it should be logically impossible, she can't deny what she was seeing in front of her eyes, right?

Ling yun smirked seeing the phoenix spirit's reaction. He knew from the start that she wouldn't be able to invade his soul.
The only reason he went on with the trial is because he wanted to show her his superiority.
Actually, Ling has a deal for the phoenix spirit. But with her arrogance and the power difference between them, it would be near impossible to reach in a agreement with her. She might not even believe of what he is going to say.
That's why, it was necessary to demonstrate his superiority to her so that she will take him seriously and not just brush him off as a liar or an arrogant person.
"So do I pass as well? Since you can't seem to invade my soul?" Ling yun said in a serious tone. He didn't dare say that in a taunting voice as that might make any kind of future deal impossible.
The Phoenix spirit didn't reply instantly as she took her time to calm down. After several minutes, she looked at Ling yun's eyes seriously and said, "I will let you pass if you tell me how you managed to get such a powerful soul?"
"Well, I don't see any problem answering you. But you must promise not to divulge it to anyone." He created a barrier after saying that in order to not let Xia qingyue listen.
He will tell Xia qingyue about the truth only after she fully devotes herself to him. Ling yun even plans to take her or any other girl to heaven if they really comes to love him. But for now, he doesn't want Xia qingyue to know.
"It happened like this...." Ling yun then slowly explained to the phoenix spirit about his journey of how he followed GOD, how he managed to go to heaven and how he finally came to this ATG Universe.
It took quite a while for the phoenix spirit to digest all those information. She never knew that the primal chaos dimension is nothing but a tiny dust compared to the world that exists out there.
The information of heaven, the information of GOD, all these things shocked her to the core and turned her worldview upside down.
"Now that you know all these, I have a proposition for you." Ling yun said after seeing her calming down.
