Chapitre 36: Chapter 20

Please, don't be there…, Melody arrived at school hoping that Jeremy wouldn't show up but she saw him entering the classroom, just few minutes after her.

She threw her head on the desk. She didn't want to face his gaze. She wanted to sink into the ocean.

Everyone in the classroom began whispering incomprehensible things to her ears.

When the teacher arrived, Melody was forced to lift her head.

Out of the corner of her eye she looked for Jeremy, sitting a few desks away from her. She then turned fully to him. He wasn't wearing a hood. She hadn't noticed it when he had crossed the threshold, because she bowed her head on her desk right away.

Before he noticed her gaze, Melody looked at the blackboard again.

But this time Jeremy had sensed her heartbeat, and clearly it was irregular, accelerated.

At the end of the lesson the class emptied out quickly.

Jeremy calmly put the notebooks back in his backpack, waiting to be alone with Melody.
