Chapitre 28: Reached my home
After facing ups and downs, we finally reached our village, I ordered Shear to go back to her cave, Kristin finally let loose her emotions and broke out into tears. Now we have to find a way to enter the village without getting caught by guards.
When she calmed down, we decided to sneak inside the village but the main question was how? It was a piece of cake to sneak out of the village but getting back was as challenging.
I was pondering again and again how to sneak inside the village without catching the guards' eyes. I didn't have the luxury of time to waste sitting on the bushes outside the village. I was started to get impatient.
"Hey let's sneak in while we still have the chance," Kristin said.
"Huh!?" Her sentence took me by surprise, why did she say that? Couldn't she see the guards? I knew she was a child but couldn't she read the mood. Because I was running out of time and patience, my frustration was at its peak but I somehow managed my composer and tried to tell her about guards with gestures.
I point my finger towards the guards so she could appositely understand what I was trying to say, but she held my head and turn it towards the direction of guards. I tried to free myself from her but her grip was strong and my efforts go in vain.
"Look, those guards are sleeping right now, we can easily sneak in through the gate right now." She said holding my head tightly with her hands.
My eyes widened and pupil shrank, how could I be so careless, I did not notice that they were sleeping. My face was painted red in embarrassment, my mind was turbulent and I didn't notice that they were sleeping while snoring instead of doing their job sincerely.
Weren't they supposed to guard the village? The audacity they had to sleep soundly. It's disappointing seeing them sleeping like that instead of doing their job, but because of their dereliction, saved us from efforts.
Now that I think about it, Kristin also sneaked through them and entered the forest. The surveillance of the village was on their shoulders, how can they let a small girl fooled them, if I hadn't met her fortuitously then she might have died and who was to blame for that. You all should just quit being a guard.
We tiptoed stealthily and passed the gate and entered the village, I heard their loud snoring sound, hearing it a thought crossed my mind, I should use my fire magic to burn them to ashes, but I already ran out of mana, and it might create a ruckus so I dropped my idea. However, people were silently in their houses thinking the guards were monitoring the village's surroundings, but that belief was different from the reality.
first, we went to the way where my house was, my heart was in my throat, at that time the only thing on my mind was, what would I have done if Catherine was woken up by then? The more I thought about it, the more my heart was beating faster.
We eventually reached my house, I was in front of the house, it was quiet, there was no noise coming inside the house, it indicated that they were still sleeping.
We silently went inside, both Catherine and David were sleeping on the bed. Catherine had a pleasant smile on her face but her eyes were wet, she may have dreamt something horrible, might be a nightmare where her husband died after all he barely escaped the death.
On the other hand, David was snoring loudly with any care of the world, I looked at her with cold eyes, how could he slept so nonchalantly after worrying her wife to death. She went to Galena's(Healer) house which was quite far from our house and she barely took any time to breathe calmly.
On a normal day, she woke up by now and got busy doing her daily chores but
She was so tired last night that's why she slept so long. She also woke up at least one time at night to feed me and to change my nappy clothes.
Kristin didn't make any loud noise only light creaky sounds which were acceptable, she slowly put me in my cradle, and before leaving she thought for a moment and whispered something in my ears.
"Hey, hey, can you teach me magic too? I want to use magic just like you?" She whispered in my ears and after saying this, she quietly ran away.
I just hoped that she got her home safely, however, looks like I found myself a student without my consent. Feeling my soft bed, my sore muscle and mind relaxed, my eyes became heavy, my body was of a baby and it can't handle this much all that stress, I have to refrain myself from doing this kind of stuff occasionally until I get a little older. But at least I got rid of the Orc problem and gain myself some subjects (minions).
Yaawn, I stretched my sore muscle one last time, they were aching. My eyes instantly closed and I didn't realize when did I sleep.
I straight woke up the next day, my body was still aching, in actual fact, it got worse.
When I opened my eyes slowly as the sun rays squint my eyes, it was already noon, seeing that woke up Catherine came close to me saying "Aren't you heavy sleeper." and started feeding me her breast milk. I was hungry so I quietly drank my fill.
I slowly avert my eyes to look around the house, David was nowhere to be found in the house, perhaps he already went to exterminate the Orc who escaped yesterday, too bad he was already brutally died by the noble Orc's hand and I had already killed the noble Orc so his expedition is waste of time.
He would return empty-hand because I had already instructed those Orcs not to roam around the outer part of the forest.
Let's just hope he would not encounter some other dangerous monster. The Azazel forest is vast and there are many unknown monsters are lurking around deep inside the forest.
I decided to check the Orcs situations to know if everything was under control. I contacted Shear.
"Master we have a bit problem here." Shear was restless, I sighed and I asked her what happened. "Are male orcs were going on a rampage?"
"Master, how do I say this but we caught a human male." She said.
"Huh?" I didn't know what to say, did they caught David or someone else.
