"Ah! I'm okay, dear..." She grimaced as soon as she fixed the ghastly expression on her face. "Look, your father is calling you." She said, lightly patting Ryder's arm with a wide smile.

The young man was struck by a great confusion upon hearing his mother's cheerful voice. However, he just pursed his lips and bowed, then turned around and walked towards Robert. 

His frown got deeper as he shoved his hands inside his pocket, feeling somewhat strange.

Since when did his fierce mother call him dear? And in such an affectionate voice? 

She usually looked so stern and domineering. Could it be that she was in an incredibly good mood today?

"Madam, why are you calling him dear? Do you forget how fierce that boy's mom is?" A low whisper came to the woman's ear as soon as Ryder's towering figure walked away from them. "Remember that you are Madam Hilda now, so please act like her."
