Not one to act rashly, Alex already had an apartment picked out but after he checked his trust fund he saw that the initial amount was now multiplied by 10, making the new balance $2,500,000. After Alex borrowed $50,000 to start of his investments, he replaced it and never looked at it again.
Changing his plans he told Angi to look for an abandoned building that didn't require too much work to serve as his home and workspace. Once again proving herself she found one on Washington Avenue, an apartment building that fell into disrepair, the only thing good about it was the exterior brick walls and the structural integrity.
All of the floors and interior walls needed to be completely replaced, this met his requirements perfectly. He was going to to renovate the top floor as his living space and the four floors below would be changed to three floors, two of these floors was where the lab equipment for his projects would be installed and the other was a practice space.
The basement would be personally renovated by him as this was where his suit and equipment would be stored. He also planned to dig a tunnel that ran all the way under Prospect Park to the south Brooklyn Marine Terminal. It would serve as an escape route but most importantly a way to discreetly bring in large amounts of resources.
The building was being sold cheap due to the owner being in desperate need of money, apparently he had a gambling problem. Making an offer $20,000 the asking price, Alex bought the building at $745,000 dollars, it may seem cheap but considering how much one would have to pay to get this place in livable condition, there was nothing cheap about this building.
Wasting no time hired a contractor to demolish the interior and reconstruct it according to the Blueprints he drew. He also told the crew they could take everything in the building as long as the work finished according to schedule. This gave them incentive because there was large appliances still inside the building.
The demolition and reconstruction took a month to complete the project because there were no rooms on the bottom three floors except a bathroom on each. The top floor was different but even then it didn't need much work, Alex already hired a designer to deal with the furniture and painting and other things he had no time to do.
Alex used this month to get used to his two new skills, Basic Espionage and Basic Martial Arts. He didn't need a month to get used to them, he only needed a few hours for the knowledge to perfectly intsall itself in his mind and a week for each skill to perfect the forms.
Still finding himself with free time Alex bought a new Skill and a new Blueprint, Basic Projectile Throwing and a Blueprint that showed how to make several different projectiles. Using a week to perfect the throwing forms.
He spent the final week making throwing daggers at night using the construction equipment and buying materials for his suit and lab equipment during the day. When Alex could finally move into his building it was six weeks after he bought it.
Wasting no more time he called the movers the movers and got them to deliver his materials and install the lab equipment the next day. After they were finished he got to work on Angi's mainframe, for the past few years she was in her original form. A small box with several different adapters so she could access different devices.
After spending the day building her new 'body' he finally finished the most important task. She quickly got to work using worker drones that Alex invented and constructed. They would be doing all the manual labour. They dismantled the recently bout equipment and reassembled them into several different machines.
Alex used one of those machines to weave Kevlar sheets and another to sew two layers of fabric above and below the kevlar. Some places on Alex's designed suit would require stacked layers of Kevlar, such as the pectoral and abdominal areas. it was designed to look like the actual muscles below them. The machines did the work perfectly and after it was finished Alex looked at it for a while before stripping and looking at himself in the mirror.
He was six feet tall and weighed 175 lbs, he was shredded but he never worked out a day in his life. His system told him that such mundane exercises would yield no substantial results. Based on what his system said, one point in each of his physical attributes is the peak of what a normal human could obtain.
He still had some trouble adjusting to his current body, he looked nothing like he did previously. After all he didn't have blue eyes or straight hair in his previous life, heck he wasn't even white then.
But he was now thanks to his mom and the Dragon genes. Freeing himself for unnecessary thoughts he suited up and headed to the roof, he couldn't let his new neighbors see a man dressed in black run out of his home. He'd start garnering the wrong kind of attention.
He leapt from rooftop to rooftop before stopping after hearing a scream. Looking down at an alley from the rooftop Alex stood there in his suit, it looked a bit similar to Captain America's WW2 suit but it was entirely black and more form fitting. It looked like it was made of denim, and the only thing that stood out was the Dragon head on his chest and a hood to conceal his identity.
He was hoping to drop in from above with a dramatic entrance and save the damsel in distress but he was too high to drop in and there was no damsel. It was a grown man screaming like a girl, swiftly but quietly making his way down the fire escape he arrived at the second floor to see the 'man' begging the two assailants to let him go.
Alex jumped off the fire escape and landed on one of the thugs breaking several bones and before the other could swing his knife at Alex his arm was seized and then broken before being knocked out by a punch. Satisfied with his work Alex looked at the 'man' and said " If you can't fight back at least scream like a man" and proceeded up the fire escape.
Halfway up he heard the man ask " Who are you?" he replied " Dragon " and made his way to the roof and made his way to another rooftop. He then checked his system to see how much Exp and Qp he earned and saw an increase of 24 and 2040 points in each respectively.
Not understanding he asked his system and it said that he got two points per thug and twenty for saving the man. He also saw a 6 and 3% increase in his in experience for his Basic Espionage and Martial Arts respectively.
It wasn't much but the night was young, Alex or should I say 'Dragon' ran around that night thrashing low level thugs. Halfway through his night he felt himself level up, like it was usually described in novels, Alex felt energy seep out of the Dragon core and strengthen every cell in his body. In his stat sheet he saw an increase of one in all physical stats.
This increase in stats sped up Dragon's pace and unfortunately for the thugs by the time it was 4 a.m Dragon had broken one bone in at least 5% of Brooklyn's low leveled thugs. Having made his was home Alex went to the basement and was shocked at it's appearance, it was cleaned and there was a mannequin in a glass case for his suit.
While removing his suit, Alex grunted in pain finally stripped of it he saw multiple purple bruises all over his body. There was even one on his thigh dangerously close to his manhood, he was almost kneecapped during the course of the night.
Luckily he bought the Basic Martial Arts skill, otherwise he would've been even worse off. The increased endurance meant Alex needed less sleep than before, he began designing upgrades for his suit and before the adrenaline wore off and he passed out he managed to draw up designs for a pair of prototype bracers. A bit similar to Batman's but there were spikes from his wrist to his elbow, they started off small and grew in length the closer they got to his elbow.
After passing out Angi had some of the worker drones carry Alex to his bed while she had the other drones make the prototype bracers. After the bracers were complete she continued on with the construction of the tunnel, the drones dug straight down for 100 meters before they started heading towards rhe Terminal.
They compressed the excavated dirt into blocks and tiles and used them to secure the tunnel. It was a temporary solution until the tunnel connected to the East River. Then large amounts of supplies and machinery could be discreetly delivered to the tunnel. The plan is to make an underground base here in Brooklyn, with several different entrances spread all across New York. With most of them being underwater.
Alex woke up and noticed that some of the less serious bruises on his body had already faded significantly and the more serious ones had already stopped hurting with the colour fading slightly. He made his way to the basement and was even more shocked than he was last night when he saw the progress of the tunnel.
It was proceeding faster than he expected, the only thing holding him back was funds. But that would change today, Angi notified Alex that his patent application was approved today and that he could begin manufacturing and selling his new operating system.
Since inception of his company, Dragon Technologies a year ago, Alex has hired core several staff members. From the Vice-presidents to the Executives, among them he located a few spies for S.H.I.E.L.D/ H.Y.D.R.A. There's no way they could currently hide anything from Angi when she did the background checks personally.
He didn't root them out as that would garner their suspicion and they'd just send in better spies, but that didn't mean he'd give them high positions though. He stuck them all in middle management positions. After getting the patent he sent the Vice-presidents an order to begin advertising and production.
Excited to finally have some work they jumped right into their tasks, Alex wasn't too worried about corporate espionage, products he made were so encrypted that by the time someone managed to reverse engineer his products, the upgraded version would be released.
With revenue soon on the way Alex went back to his other passion. Vigilantism,he browsed for a Beginner Parkour Skill and bought it for 1,000 Qps. Continuing through the Skill list he saw a skill that called out to him, Novice Swordsmanship.
Alex bought it immediately and used both skill books. By the time the knowledge settled in his mind it was time for his second night out, he put on his suit and affixed the prototype bracers to his forearms. Heading for the roof once again he used his new strength and parkour skills to make his way around Brooklyn.
After searching for a while he noticed that the past few thugs he saw were in larger groups than they were in yesterday. The smallest group he saw for the night contained 6 people, even though it was more than he ever confronted before he still chose to take the risk. Like he usually did dropped down on one of the thugs and incapacitated another before the rest of thugs attacked him. Dragon then front kicked one thug away before ducking to dodge a swing from a baseball bat, he then round house kicked the wannabe clean-up batter in the head.
Dealing with half of his opponents he looked at the remaining three which now included the one who just picked himself up after being kicked in the chest. They all attacked at the same time, Dragon found himself on the defensive, blocking the attacks aimed at him Dragon finally found an opening he could capitalize on.
Blocking a swing from a baseball bat with his bracers, the wooden bat was caught on the spikes. Dragon then proceeded to kick the swinger at the side of his knee instantly breaking it, as that man went down Dragon grabbed a distracted thug by the arm and shoulder tossed him at the last remaining thug.
Walking his way to the two men who were struggling to stand he kicked one in the head knocking him out and grabbing the other by his throat lifting him in the air. He then said to him in a grave tone " Tell them all that these are my streets now and every time I see them in it i'll break something of theirs." and before he could respond the he was punched in the face and rendered unconscious.
