Rayan stood looking at this new serious version of Sue. She looked more confident and stronger than she ever was. She looked different. Rayan could not figure out it was a good different or bad different, but he was sure that the one who sat in front of him, the one who ran this big firm, was a stronger version of Sue. Yet, something inside her amber-colored eyes showed the old soft Sue.
“I don’t have a long day for you. So, please tell me, how I can help you?” She said.
Rayan expected that Sue would not like meeting him, but he thought she would blame him. He never thought that she would act indifferent. His smile started to fade, and he said,
“Sue, is this how you deal with your clients?” Rayan asked.
“I never agreed on meeting a client without an appointment, to begin with. If you are not comfortable with my way, then please feel free to look for a different lawyer.” Sue said.
Rayan kept gazing at Sue, searching for the old Sue somewhere in her eyes, but he failed.
