Chapitre 6: CHAPTER 6: WORRIED?

I felt the damp cloth on my forehead. I gradually came to my senses and saw Lila looking at me with concern.

"Lila?" I whispered weakly.

"Madam, you're awake. How are you feeling?" she asked, then gently squeezed my hand.

She's really worried about me. I can see it.

Why do I feel like there's a special connection between Lila and me compared to the other maids here? I don't really know. But she caught my attention from the very beginning. She's so respectful and kind, which is why I genuinely like her. She helps me with everything, so naturally, I try to help her as much as I can.

I'm just really glad that she's here with me.

"M-madam?"

"I'm fine, Lila. But... I feel so exhausted. My body feels heavy." I spoke and slowly sat up. Lila was about to stop me, but I smiled at her and let out a sigh of relief.

"Madam, you should rest more. You're not fully recovered yet," she insisted.

"How long was I asleep?" I asked.

She bit her lower lip and looked at me with concern.

"You've been asleep for two whole days, Madam." She replied, letting out another sigh of concern for me.

That means I only have one more day to rest. After that, I need to meet Kaito.

"Where am I?" I asked, looking around.

"Y-you're in Master Zeid's room. When I saw you lying unconscious on the balcony, I immediately called Master Zeid and he brought you here. He said it's safer in his room than leaving you in yours," she explained.

I suddenly became thoughtful. If I was asleep... the dagger... the letter!

"D-did you see a letter? And the dagger..." I quickly asked. She tilted her head, thinking.

"No, I didn't. The energy stone had no light left and I was in a panic, so I only noticed you. Would you like me to ask Master Zeid if he saw anything?"

I slowly felt a chill again.

"I'm okay," I said, touching my neck. There was a bandage there, and it felt a bit tight.

"Your body absorbed some poison. But the poison wasn't very strong, so you weren't in any serious danger... or... didn't die. I hope you'll rest first, madam. I'll bring you something to drink and eat." She said this before standing and bowing. Then she left.

I looked around, scanning Zeid's room. It's big and clean. Everything is neatly arranged, and he has a large bookshelf filled with books. Next to the bed, there's a photograph.

A woman...

That looks familiar...

Wait, is that her—

"So, you're already awake."

I tore my gaze away from the photograph and looked at the person who had arrived. My neck still felt a bit stiff from the quick turn.

He was wearing his kimono, with his sword resting on his left hip. He was looking at me coldly.

I averted my gaze from him again.

"P-pardon me. I've inconvenienced you, and you even brought me here to your room. I'll go back to my room now, so please don't be upset," I said, slowly moving my legs to get down from his bed. But he quickly approached me and brought his face close to mine.

I was startled again. What's his problem now?

H-his face is way too close!

He was just examining the wound on my neck for a few seconds. It was bandaged, but I didn't know why he needed to look at it again. Maybe he was getting paranoid.

He stepped back and crossed his arms.

"If you want to get killed, go back to your room. If you want to live, stay here and be safe," he said coldly.

"Killed? What do you—"

"This letter." He showed me the letter that was sent to me the other day. "I don't know what they're planning or who wants to take you. But I know that, for now, they won't kill you. This is a warning for you. To join them next time." He walked over to the window and looked outside.

"It doesn't matter. They won't get anything from me," I said, then slowly lay back down. I looked up, and then at him. "Right?"

He looked at me, just staring without a word. He seemed to be thinking something over.

"I'm leaving now," he said, and just as he was leaving, Lila arrived with food and something to drink. She placed them on the table and urged me to eat, which I did right away because I was really hungry.

I need my strength now. I only have until tomorrow to rest. I don't want to be a burden to Kaito.

4:00

I'm all alone in Zeid's room. Lila left because she had something to do. And no one else wanted to stay here to keep me company.

I've been lying here for hours. I've definitely had more than enough sleep.

"I can't just stay cooped up in his room," I murmured quietly, then slowly rose from the bed. I stepped out of his room and found myself in a living area. His living room was tastefully decorated, with potted plants on the side tables.

If I didn't know that he owned this room, I might have thought a woman lived here.I glanced to the right, where there was a small space for practice. His living room was open on all sides, separated only by curtains made of a special, polished wood.

I walked down the small hallway and found myself in front of his room, where I had seen him looking out at the small pond earlier.I glanced at the pond, teeming with fish, and couldn't help but smile.

"Your master must really love you, huh?" I asked, then let out a soft chuckle.I was still standing in the small hallway outside Zeid's room—though I could already think of it as his house. From here, I could see the fish in the pond.

"Ugh... I'm just so unlucky. It's not just bad luck—it's like I attract people who want to take me away. I'm like a magnet for misfortune," I muttered.

But... if I travel with Kaito, maybe they won't be able to get to me or harm me. However, if I'm not careful, the chances of my life being in danger increase even more once we're out there.

Then...

It's not just my life that will be in danger, but Kaito's as well.

"Oh come on, I can finally get out of this house," I said to myself. I was about to leave when someone grabbed the back of my kimono, pulling me back.

"So, you really want to die?" Zeid's voice cut through the air like a cold blade. His brow furrowed sharply, irritation etched across his face.

"Why do I even need to stay in your room?" I retorted, my voice tinged with impatience. "I'm not a prisoner here, you know. I just want to get some fresh air and stop feeling like I'm trapped."

He stared at me, his eyes cold and piercing, like they could cut through stone.

"I set up a barrier around my room. Only those who I allow can enter here. You're safer here," he said, his tone flat but firm.

"How can you say that? You're right here."

"What?"

"Just your aura alone, it feels like you could tear me apart at any moment." I said irritably.

"So you want to die early then?" he asked seriously, taking another step closer to me.

I felt my breath catch in my throat.

"Go ahead, get closer, and I'll make sure your happiness never sees the light of day," I taunted.

But he just ignored me. I braced myself for a fight, but he simply walked past me and left.

Well... that's Zeid for you.
