Chapitre 46: Chapter 46: Am I Wrong?

Brad paced the kitchen and he knew he looked like a caged animal. His encounter with Jake had left him angry and confused. Should he believe him? Maybe he didn’t set those fires long ago. Or burn down his shop. Or torch his go-cart. What if he’d been wrong all these years?

He pounded a fist into his open palm. “Dammit.”

Yanking the receiver off the wall, knowing one person could clean the air, Brad punched in Tim’s work number.

“Mr. Hagerty’s office.”

Brad took a deep breath to steady his voice. “Jaime, it’s Brad. Is Tim around?”

“I’m sorry Brad, Tim’s in a meeting all afternoon.”

Brad frowned. He needed to talk to his friend. He wanted to hear Tim say that Jake had set the fires. Otherwise he’d been living with a lie all these years. And he’d done a good friend a grave disservice. “Could you tell him to call me when he gets out?”

“Sure, Brad.”
