Chapitre 51: Professor Geist

"Now that that is cleared up for our new student, how about you come up here and introduce yourself, future student council president!" He worded it like a question, but said it annoyingly more like a command. Burying my annoyance I rise from seat and stand beside him, gaining curious murmurings until I turned around. I may be a little vain, but what guys doesn't like to bask in the compliments of frantic whispering and heart shaped eyes of the female gender.

The males had flames burning in their eyes with gritted teeth and clenched fists, after all I hadn't met every student who was going to be attending Xyrus, so for some this was the first time they were seeing me.

"A pleasure to meet you all. I am Jaron Helstea, I look forward to learning in this class with all of you. As I'm sure Professor Geist has done, my records say my core level is solid yellow and I'm a duel augmenter of wind and fire. Please rely on me when I become student council president." With a hand raised to my chest I gave a slight bow before looking back up to see the shocked faces of my classmates.

"You're not a yellow core mage! You're younger than me!" Random guy A yelled while pointing at me and I just smiled.

"You can ask Geist if you don't believe me." I said as I turned to look at him and he just smirked back at me.

"I have something better! As a light yellow core mage I think I'm perfectly equipped to handle our new student. And that way we can know if he really is as strong as he says." All the guys had sneering looks on their faces except for a few while all the girls minus Tessia looked worried.

"Duel!" Came a chant from a group of guys around Random guy A. I sigh in exasperation, maybe I shouldn't have said anything about my core level, but I imagine i would have ended up in this position anyways.

"Very well Professor Geist, lets get this over with." He keeps his smirk placed on before we take our distances on the arena.

"Good, since you're a solid yellow core supposedly I won't have to hold back too much, but I'll use conjurer abilities as a consolation to you." The smirk of his was starting to make tick mark form on my head.

"It seems you don't trust the Director's judgement on my abilities. Perhaps we should ask her to oversee this duel?" I say with a slight head tilt and a smile of my own. He only faltered for a second before retorting.

"No I trust her judgement just fine, but anyone can be swayed when external factors come into play." Well Geist. I didn't know you were such a wordsmith, alluding to the fact that our director was bribed to forge my records. Well I guess you're not entirely wrong, but it wasn't money that swayed her.

"I'm ready whenever you are Professor Geist." He nodded his head toward my sword.

"Aren't you going to draw your blade?" I tapped my hand on the hilt and smiled.

"I don't think that will be necessary, besides you aren't using yours either. It's only fair." He shrugs before smirking again.

"I guess you'll need an excuse for when you lose. Fine by me." My eye twitched at his provocation. I'll admit some people just get under my skin and Geist seems to be one of them. I grab the hilt of my sword and draw it to where the blade is pointing straight at Geist being held aloft by my right hand.

"Professor, I suggest you draw your blade as well. Wouldn't want to allow room for any… excuses after all." He smirked again at me and withdrew his sword from his waist then tossing the hilt.

"You asked for it brat, don't come crying to me when you get burned." This time I was the one to smirk at him.

"Don't worry about me Professor, I just hope you put up a better fight than you did against Brald in that tournament." This got his face to go red and he fueled his blade with fire mana as he charged me. Since I hadn't had a sword duel in a while I decided to meet his blue flames with blue flames if my own. Because while only slightly inconvenient, at this stage it really wouldn't matter if anyone knew that I was Rez. Besides it's bound to happen eventually, as I use this sword a lot as both Jaron and Rez.

I'm honestly more surprised, only the King has figured it out yet. Our swords met, his swinging down, and mine swinging up to meet it. I could see the surprise in his face when I didn't budge as he poured in more strength. I smiled devilishly at him and swiftly pulled back my sword right when his force was at its strongest causing him to stumble. I swatted him across the back with the flat of my blade as I stepped past, leaving a singed mark across the back of his clothes.

"Do you need a warmup Professor? Because so far I'm not impressed." He fumed again, but realized I was antagonizing him and took a deep breath.

"Seems your good with words, and I suppose a student council president needs that. How will you fare now that I'm not blindly attacking from annoyance." I just chuckle at him as he refuels his sword with blue flames.

"Haha, I appreciate the compliment, but I'm surprised that just that much was enough to throw you off." This time he charged while shooting multiple ball of fire at me and I just sliced them with my sword. As I was slashing the final one he was swinging his sword to my neck and I just did a split to dodge it, flexibility really does have its uses. Twisting my legs, I kick at his legs and barely jumps over them as a smile crosses my face.

I push off of my hands and kick him full force with bottoms of my feet to his chest. I hear cough just before he's sent flying to the wall of the classroom. I straighten my clothes and dust off some dirt as I stare, along with the rest of the class, at where Geist was picking himself up off the ground. Sheathing my sword I walk back to my seat and sit down, waiting for our dear Professor to teach.

"Thanks for the warm up Professor Geist. I'm ready for today's lesson whenever you are." Snickers could be heard, but most people were whispering furiously at how a student had just defeated the teacher.

"Oh also I should warn you Geist." I paused as I waited for him to look at me and when he did I continued.

"I would refrain from doing this sort of thing while I'm student council president. If I hear of you doing something like this again it will not end with a simple kick to the chest." I let my gaze linger on him for a few moments before I cleared my throat and faces forward. He finished collecting himself, and with a slight tinge of embarrassment he finished out the lecture for the class until the bell rang. When it did Tessia leaned over to me as we stood up.

"Did you have to go so far against him? What if he would have been injured?" I just waved her off with a cheeky smile.

"Ahh he was fine, besides I kicked Arthur way harder than that when I used the same move against him." She looked at me in surprise and leaned in even closer.

"You kicked Arthur like that?! Was he okay?" I laugh at her before leaning away from her.

"Arthur is made of tough stuff, he said something about a little girl who would beat him everyday while he was assimilating his beast will." Her face reddened as she looked away and I laughed again.

"Anyways, come on. We gotta go to the council room. I can't wait to see Reginald after I tossed him on the ground this morning." I began walking off, and Tessia moments later whisper yelled at me as she caught up.

"You did what to the student council president?!" I waved her off slightly.

"Don't worry it's no big deal. Guys like him and Geist if you don't show you can hold your own they'll just keep bullying you. He's probably still trying to figure out how I flipped him this morning." Tessia just shook her head in exasperation as I followed her to the council room. The both of us drew the stares of the entire student body, both of us for opposing reasons for the different genders.

Guys looked at me in jealousy for walking next to Tessia while girls fawned over me. Guys fawned over Tessia, while the girls looked ready to assassinate her. Some even whispered something about us being a couple, and I could only sigh as I shook my head. Can people of opposite genders not be friends or something? Tessia seemed to already be used to it as she ignored every remark, even the crude ones about her looks.

"Looks like growing up in castle gives you tough skin. I figured this stuff would have bothered you." When she didn't respond I looked closer at her face and saw a disturbed look on her face and I laughed slightly.

"Haha, never mind then. Seems even Princesses can get flustered by the sheep. Ouch." She elbowed me in the side, and even though it didn't hurt, I feigned it so she wouldn't do it again.

"Touchy touchy." Was all I said as we arrived in front of the student council room, when we stepped inside we were met with the current members as well as another familiar face, Clive Graves.

"Ahh, our future council president has finally arrived, and he's cute too." A rather lustful looking girl stood up from her seat and walked towards, she could only be around 16-17 but she walked with a sway. She knew she was attractive and she flaunted it as was made obvious by showing some cleavage through her cloak because it wasn't tied properly. Her bright blond hair was left to fall down her shoulders and her bright blue eyes seemed to try and draw you in.

I looked to Tessia beside me and she just sighed, seems this must be the Vice President. I just chuckled inwardly before facing the approaching figure.

"You must be the Vice President, it makes sense honestly. You'd need someone beautiful to counteract someone like Reginald." I could see him fume a little passed her shoulder, but was blocked as she placed a hand on my chest and leaned in seductively.

"Yes~ My job is very hard you know. We could use someone like you around here to help relieve my… stress~." She let her tongue emphasize the 's' in her words as she spoke into my ear, and I won't lie a slight shiver went down my spine. More at the cliche at how snake like she acted, but her beauty couldn't be denied as well. I leaned forward now, lips hovering just before hers and her breath caught slightly.

My left hand snaked up to cup her cheek and I looked directly into her eyes.

"If this position is causing you too much stress, perhaps you should quit." I finished by slightly blowing on her lips as she just nodded absentmindedly at what I said before she shook her head realizing what she was nodding to. She used both hands to push me back as she had a blush on her face paired with a scowl.

"You filthy bastard." She spat and I just chuckled at her.

"My, it seems you can't take what you dish out. Maybe you really aren't worthy of being in the student council." I stepped closer until she couldn't back away anymore due to the desk behind. I leaned next to her ear and whispered like she did, dragging my s's.

"Seems~ to me you aren't as smooth~ as~ you thought. Now lets get the council started~." I leaned away and stepped back to where there was an open chair next to Tessia and Clive, taking my seat I look up to see the Vice President shaking slightly. Still frozen where I had whispered into her ear, it was probably foul play to use some sound mana, but it needed to be done.

Just like how Reginald needed to be flipped and slammed on to the ground. The same as how Geist needed to be flung into a wall, This girl needed to lose at her own game to know not to mess with me again. Reginald lost by being forced to the ground when he tried to make me bow. And Geist lost by being completely trounced in our duel. Different people need to lose in different ways, and while I may be making enemies I can at least make them think twice before doing something.

"Ahem. Lets get the council meeting underway. Lets start with introductions as we have a new face here. I'm the Secretary of the student council Terrin Mandigold."

Author's Note

No real reason I ended in Terrin's introduction as they are an OC, that I literally came up with and then ended the chapter lol. Not sure how big a role they will play, but maybe I'll give them some spotlight during the student council scenes.

Hope everything seemed natural as like I've said before social interactions and dialogue are my weakest points. I wanted what was said to be slightly cheesy, as a lot of the time that makes them memorable as long as they are not completely cringe inducing.

Don't know how much of the next chapter will be in mana theory class, as I'm not trying to breakdown mana in a teachable lecture for you all lol. And I don't think any of you want that either. Might just show a quick scene of MC being in there and maybe one thing interests him before we move on to another training session.

I really don't know what I'm going to do in this Academy arc as I don't want to just blow past it, but I also know that it was a lot of peoples least favorite arc in the books, so I'll try not to spend too long on it.

Thanks for reading.
