Chapitre 17: Chapter 17

On the couch faced down, Jason had his head in a pillow as Lala sat by his side. As she ran her hand over his well defined back, a back she was sure that could shoulder everything thrown at it. Which slightly impressed her and terrified her as she saw a similar back once before on her Father.

Jason who was faced down seemed tired more mentally than physically. Over the course of the last week since Zastin delivered his message about the coming destroyer. James had been determined in training him the best he could, from fighting to how to properly handle most situations.

Even how to catch a plane was involved since if he did it wrong, he would kill everyone inside and possibly just tear right through it. Truthfully while it sounded cool, it was a lot harder than the movies and comics made it look.

For him to hold up a falling tower or catch a plane, he had to wrap it in a very thin biofield he could emit to strengthen the object. If not, while the part he was holding would stay the rest would just break off or collapse.

"Why did he suddenly become a hero instructor from hell?" Jason mumbled. "I don't even want to be a hero."

"Jason." Lala sighed. "I know you don't feel comfortable or like the idea of being a hero. I just want to ask why?"

"It is because of the responsibility and expectations. What if I save someone from falling off a building, then the next time he acts careless and falls again when I can't reach him. How about if I clean up all the space debris orbiting around the planet or clean up the ocean? Wouldn't I be more of a house maid for the entire planet instead of a hero?" Jason answered seriously. "What if I'm not next to you when I am needed."

"Jason, those are what ifs. Yes, it will be hard and tough as you would make countless life and death decisions each time. There will be times when you can't save everyone, but Jason you're not perfect or a god. I don't nor does James or Liz expect you to be." Lala answered slowly as if to let it sink in. "Also, Jason, I am not as fragile as you think. So what if you will have to cut our date short or leave before dessert when we eat out."

"Lala, I always eat dessert first." Jason countered. "Also, when did our outings count as dates?"

"Since now." Lala countered back. "As for all your other what if, just take it one step at a time. You don't need to solve all of humanity's problems at once nor does anyone expect you to."

"Thanks for the prep talk Lala, but it is not going to change my mind." Jason replied, but it didn't sound as convincing as it normally is.

"Jason, I don't expect you to, but call it a woman instinct you will be wearing a suit sooner or later." Lala smirked. "By the way, can I see you try on the suit?"

"You have been hanging around Liz way too much." Jason crashed down on his pillow. "The costume doesn't even have a mask."

Behind the wall, James just smiled as he pulled out a photo. It was when Jason was a child and ran around with a blue blanket tied around him. His childish voice begging to be trained, so he can become a great hero.

--

"Jason!" Lala cried out as she wrapped herself around him.

Planting her soft lips on his cheek multiple times as she gave him kisses. Clearing his throat, Mr. Chase brought the display to an end. He after all had to maintain the school rules and the hearts of the singles in class. However, he didn't take much more action and just carried on grading.

"Did something good happen?" Jason asked as he dried his wet cheek.

"Do you remember the healing pods I made? Well the companies I got in touch with are very interested in them." Lala explained happily. "I'm just waiting for the patent and health officials to approve. Then I can start full scale production and begin filling up every hospital with them."

"Lala, congratulations. You probably just changed healthcare and saved countless lives." Jason said happily.

Laughing happily, Lala just grinned as she began playing on her computer once more. Designing what appeared to be a pair of glasses. Only as she continued to add circuits and parts to it, Jason had a feeling they weren't going to be normal glasses.

In the depth of space, a small figure dressed in pure white clothing flew unhindered by the lack of air or ship. The figure was a tall man whose black hair had small streaks of grey starting to fill in on the sides. While he didn't have a large or bulky frame, he was still very muscular and as if to demonstrate it, he flew straight through a large asteroid without a scratch on him.

'Earth, my ticket for revenge should be there.' the man thought as he touched the large jagged scar over his eye.

The scar started from his forehead all the way down to his chest. It was the only mark on his body much to his pride and shame. Since it was all caused by one man, who he realised he couldn't beat.

In the man's hand was a small device with a holographic compass above it. Below it was a picture of Lala, the princess of Deviluke. She was also the daughter of his most hated enemy and only opponent he had to turn his back on and run away from.

'Even if I can't beat you yet. I still have other ways for my revenge. For bringing me my greatest shame, I shall take away your greatest pride.'

For the man's name was Thragg and he was the last Viltrumite.
