Malik had to give it to her. She was not afraid of him, and that truthfully excited him. She never made a direct threat that she would make him eat the words he uttered the night she stormed out on him. Oh, how she came through all the same. Between stepping up to save her brother and showing no fear toward him…she wasn’t just a human. He knew that now. He could honestly say out of the five hundred years he’d been around, he never met anyone like her. What made her different? He had no idea. F*ck, she just was.

He pulled back after her response of, ‘so be it’ and she picked out the furthest guest room from his own bedroom. That was no surprise, but all the more still amusing. He arranged for her belongings to be brought to her, and because he was so damn generous, he allowed Rylie to come make sure she was alright. He wouldn’t allow Byron there. No one was allowed there. Even Rylie came blind-folded.
