Lilian was simply attacking out of spite and burning anger, which clouded her thoughts. She was no fool to not understand that Prudence was someone who would throw water over her love. Of all the things Lilian liked to believe, Vincent was her one and the only true love in this lifetime was something she held strongly in her heart. 

However, there was someone he would choose over her and Lilian was not ready to accept the attitude she assumed Prudence held towards her.
