“Still okay?” Henry checked, not wanting to push him too far their first time. “It’s okay if it’s not. We don’t have to—”
“No, no, no!” Luke shook his head. Pulled his eyebrows together and tried to say something else. “I mean, yes. Yes, I…I want…don’t…”
Frustration passed across his face. He scowled and then scowled more when Henry chuckled. He just couldn’t help it. Big, strong, brawny Luke had a scowl no fiercer than a little kitten.
“Aw.” Henry fit a hand to Luke’s cheek. “It’s okay, sweetheart. How about this: nod if you wanna keep going.”
A touch of a smile. Then, a nod.
Henry smiled back and pressed a soft kiss to Luke’s forehead. He petted a hand over his head. Whispered, “Good boy,” and smiled more at the whimper that earned him.
