On the 31st of December, I was excitedly getting ready in the bathroom. It was New Year's Eve and as promised, Abi was throwing a party. Half of Kellington High was going to be there, which would pose its challenges, but I'd come up with a believable enough story to tell people and I just couldn't wait to see my friends.

"The Sexiest high school dropout around," Leo said, drawing up behind me and kissing my neck.

"I'm not a high school dropout," I said, leaning closer to the mirror to put my mascara on, "I moved to an art boarding school in Argentina, remember?"

Leo rolled his eyes, "and people will believe that?"

"I'm hoping they'll be drunk enough not to notice," I said, reaching for the lipstick.

I had had little energy to put into my appearance since Cato was born and for the first time in weeks, I'd done my hair, changed out of my sweatpants and hoody and put make-up on.
