Chapitre 33: Gum

Next day.

"How about this Saturday?"

"Do we really have to do this Cath? Why can't we just hang out in your place or mine and chill?" Amber suggested.

"Because that isn't fun and—wait, why am I even explaining it to you? You are coming and that is final," Catheline stated leaving no room for discussion.

"But—"

Cutting her off, she snapped, "No ifs and buts Amber, you are—ahhh." She yelped before falling on the road.

"Cath? Hello? Cath, are you there?"

Rubbing her sore knees, Catheline groaned in pain. "Don't you know how to walk?" she snapped at the man who had hit her shoulder.

Getting up, the man dusted his hands before picking up his phone. "Shouldn't I be asking you the same question? It's bright daylight, do you have some vision impairment? Or did you forget your glasses at home?"

"I can ask you the same question too." She rolled her eyes before getting up. She then quickly picked up her phone and examined it. "Good for you it's not broken."

"Woah, what's with that attitude?" Without waiting for her reply, he added, "Well, I could even say the same thing but you know, I have a policy of not arguing with beautiful women."

Completely taken aback by the sudden low-key flirtatious remark, Cathelin felt a loss of words. How could anyone argue over that?

"Look I am really sorry, I was talking to my friend so I got distracted and didn't see you," the man explained himself in a very sincere apologetic way.

"I am sorry too, I was also talking to my friend and didn't see you. I should have been more careful," Catheline apologized as well.

"So we are good?" When she nodded her head, he took out something from his pocket. "Here, take this as a token of apology."

"A gum?" she chuckled.

Shrugging his shoulders, he nodded his head. "Yeah, everyone likes gum, right? And I have always believed that gums keep people together."

Taking the gum from his hand, she remarked, "That is a weird theory."

"Well, that weird theory worked. You took the gum from me," he winked at her.

Putting the gum inside her bag, she smiled at him. "Well, it was nice bumping against you but now I have to leave."

"So how do I contact you? I mean—"

Cutting him off, Catheline said, "If your theory works then maybe we will bump into each other again." Without waiting for his reply, she walked away.

Raising his brows, Athan chuckled, "Nice." Pressing his phone against his ear, he asked, "Where were we again?"

"You are asking me? You just put me on hold for God knows how many minutes dude, what the hell happened?" Ivan asked.

Looking in the direction where Catheline had just left, he smiled, "Well, I was giving out gums."

Ivan's office.

Hanging up the call after talking to Athan, Ivan called Genny in to hear his schedule for the day.

"How was the session?" The first thing Genny inquired as soon as she entered the office.

"If you are talking about the therapy then it was good," he answered.

"Did you like it?" Without waiting for his reply, she answered her own question. "Of course you did, Amber is great."

Raising his brows, Ivan asked, "Why do you sound so excited early in the morning? I guess it's not because I went for the session, right?"

"Of course it's for that. Do you want a second session? I can arrange it with Amber if you want."

Thinking for a while, he nodded his head. "I was going to ask you to schedule a second appointment."

"Really?" When he gave her a 'I just told you' look, she quickly said, "Okay, I'll call her right away."

After giving him the day's schedule, Genny made her way out of the office.Stopping midway, she looked at him. "Sometimes there are things we tend to keep to ourselves but that does no good. Sometimes, letting them out also helps us find peace."
