"It seems like you two are bonding really well." Gilltian said with Wilhelm following him at his back, as he entered the room that I am currently resting. Both Adjest and I just kept quiet as we both didn't want to deal with Gilltian's probing.
"So? How's your first trip using a teleportation array." Gilltian said with a smirk.
"Its a sh*tty experience, I can tell you that." I said with a straight face.
"Young man, language." Gilltian and Wilhelm said at the same time making Adjest's lips curve up a little after seeing that I'm being reprimanded for my cursing.
"Well, even if I you reprimand me for cursing its still a sh*tty experience and nothing can change that." I said as I rolled my eyes at them.
Gilltian smacked my head and reprimanded me once more.
"Anyway. Now that you're already fine. Let's talk about what you're planning." Gilltian said as he changed into his Emperor mode.
Adjest was about to stand up and leave to give us room to talk but Gilltian stopped her.
"Adjest, you stay here too. You're going to replace me in the future. It would help you a lot to hear Aegis' way of running his territory." Gilltian said and Adjest nodded her head. She had been learning how to run a territory from her teachers and they would always praise me for my innovations towards the betterment of my territory.
They would sometimes lament the fact that most of the nobles have forgotten the most important resource in their country. Even though they are nobles as well, they are only nobles in name and don't have a territory to run, so they're not afraid to share their thoughts.
"Me? Planning?" I asked him with a confused face and I looked at Wilhelm for help.
"You said that you are going to build a school." Gilltian said and I finally understood what Wilhelm is talking about but this is the first time that Adjest is hearing about it and she was shocked.
"Yes. I indeed have a plan to build one on every town and city that I own." I said to him. There's no more villages in my territory, with my assistance plan, all the villages that received my assistance became prosperous and managed to be labeled as a town after building a wall for their safety.
"May I ask why?" Gilltian asked and Adjest reined in her shock as she was curious about it too. Building a school is a big matter since only the Hebrion academy is the only school in the entire Empire and it is also big enough to house a lot of students in it.
"I simply plan to raise the literacy rate of my citizens." I said nonchalantly.
"You know that's not what I'm talking about. I know that you're not doing a losing plan." Gilltian asked me again. Adjest also turned serious after hearing her father.
"Of course. Although sometimes, a losing plan is the best for having the least losses, no one likes a losing plan, right? You called it a losing plan but to me its more of an investment plan. Like what I did to make my Estate become the Safe Haven of the commoners." I said and paused for a little bit, looking at the two of them seriously listening to me.
"Since its an investment plan, I would surely lose in the first few years. But when those people whom I invested in blooms, then the returns would be great.
What I'm planning is I'm giving more opportunities for my citizens by giving them basic knowledge in regards to arithmetic, literature, and history.
If they have a knack for arithmetic, they can choose to become a merchant or a travelling merchant, which would give profits to my territory through taxes.
If they have a knack for reading and writing, they can be apply for work in any of my departments, we are seriously lacking in those people who can read and write official documents and I intended to train them.
Lastly, History. Weird, isn't it? Why would we teach history to my citizens? Well, we all know that the Shadow World is a trial in which you will have to accomplish a goal before you clear the shadow world, the most important thing to remember is that most of the trials happens in the past.
If my citizens, especially those young ones, chose to enter the Academy, they would fare well in the academy even if they are from the Beta Class. If they became famous, its an advertisement to our territory. Its a win-win situation for me.
Do you understand? Its basically a trade offer, You receive a developed student, I receive credits for building the student up." I looked at them seriously.
"I wouldn't tell you this much if you aren't my uncle." I said with a yawn and lied down on the bed.
"Amazing..." Adjest murmured after hearing my reasons for building my own school. There's literally no school that could teach the basics of the world in the Empire. I just took advantage of it since no one is going for it. I just needed to avoid having conflicts of interest with the Hebrion Academy and we're all good. What the Academy wants is Mages and Aura users, what I want is literate talents, we're standing on a different path.
Gilltian was amazed as well but he didn't show the emotion in his face.
Wilhelm looked at me with a proud smile while I just laid down and stared at the ceiling.
'Even if you want to copy my methods, you won't be able to do it successfully because of the stupid nobles who are all gold-minded people. If you truly want to change this Empire, its better to rebuild it by destroying it from the inside. That's just the way it is. The poison is already rooted deeply and couldn't be cured by an antidote anymore.' I thought to myself as I stared at the ceiling.
"Anyway, that's all there is to it. Is your curiosity satisfied?" I asked them, breaking the silence.
"Yeah. Anyway, aren't you going back to Blackwood Estate? Its going to be late or are you staying here in the capital?" Gilltian asked, changing the topic.
"We're going back. We haven't informed those in the manor so they probably would be worried about us." I said as Gilltian nodded.
"Alright then." Gilltian waved his hands and left. He didn't need to say anything more since he's an emperor.
Gilltian left the room leaving us with Wilhelm, Adjest, and I.
"I'll be waiting for you at the teleportation array." Wilhelm said as he left the room leaving the two of us alone.
"Why don't you stay for a few days?" Adjest asked me, a little curious about why I'm returning.
"Its going to be fine, isn't it? I can go back here anytime I want and you can go to my place whenever you want to." I said which made Adjest understand it.
"Alright, I'll visit you and Felicia tomorrow." Adjest said with a slightly excited voice.
"Sure." I said nonchalantly as I stood up and sat down on the side of the bed.
Adjest handed me my suit and wore it before leaving the room. Adjest followed me behind as we walked towards the teleportation array.
After a few minutes of setting up, we were bound to leave and said our farewells to each other.
