Chapitre 14: Chapter 14: Her Heart Ripping Once Again

"Oh, uhmmm," Amethyst thought for a bit before she shook her head.

"As of now, I think nothing comes to mind. But I'll try going there later, a viewing part is there so I can get as close as possible," she then added.

Scarlet finally noticed that something was wrong, "You don't have to. It is fine as long as we can get materials from here. It doesn't have to be all the attractions."

Amethyst shook her head, "In Burnham Park one of its main attraction is the lake. If I can't do the boating then getting close is fine."

Scarlet could only sigh in defeat and smile at her before glancing at Slate, he on the other hand, shook his head.

She was asking if he knew something through her eyes but he didn't as well.

Silence filled them but there is no way they can dispel it because the siblings could feel it was what Amethyst wanted right now.

"Maybe you could try getting on the boat," Amethyst suggested after a while.

Even she didn't like the silence between them that she thought of a solution.

"I think it is a good ride and you really wouldn't worry about anything," she added.

Scarlet thought for a bit. It is true that she wanted to try it so she looked at Slate.

He shook his head and stood up, "Let's go then."

It is not that dangerous and there are only a few things his sister could do now, giving her a chance to enjoy is the only thing he can do for her.

He pushed her towards the boating part while Astra followed them with her eyes.

"You're not coming?" Scarlet already knew something was up with the lake but she still asked.

Amethyst smiled, "I'll stay here and watch over our things. You two should enjoy as much as you can."

Scarlet no longer argued with her and let Slate push her to where they can ride.

After paying, Slate carried her to the boat while the one renting the boat pushed teh wheelchair on the side.

"You think she has memories in this lake?" Scarlet asked as they started moving.

"I don't know but it seems that there is something about the lake that troubles her," was Slate's answer.

And he can tell that this has something to do with her depression.

"And how about that new book of yours?" he changed the subject after wards.

"I already told you I am starting it already," she replied with a smile.

"What do you plan for it then?"

"It's a secret, you have to buy one copy once it's over before you find out what it is about. But keep in mind that I got the idea because of Amethyst."

"You told her who you are?" Slate asked her in shock.

"No... not yet that is. I think sooner or later I will have to tell her. But it was because of her helping out that gave me the idea about this book," she replied looking back at where they set up their picnic.

Then she noticed that Amethyst was not there as she had said.

She thought that Amethyst must have went to the restroom, until her eyes went to the viewing deck at teh side of the lake.

Amethyst was standing there with her head slightly bowed and her eyes staring straight in the water.

Scarlet felt something was amiss.

"Let's go back. I think something is really rong with Amethyst," she said to Slate urgently.

Slate looked towards where she was looking and saw the unmoving Amethyst.

Without delay he maneuvered the boat and started paddling towards where they can get off.

Amethyst, on the other hand, wanted to help Scarlet as much as she can but she couldn't help remembering about ehr past where she was used.

She kept thinking about this when she started having a nagging feeling towards Scarlet.

She tried shaking it off and did her best to think of her looking at the lake.

Yet instead of getting into her usual stance where Slate felt as if she was a different person, she ended up in a trance state. And slowly stood up walking towards the viewing deck.

Upon reaching she stared blankly at the water and a vision of a girl beneath the water was what she can see on the lake.

She couldn't move and felt her body falling forward towards the water where the girl was staring back at her.

She was beneath the water but she was staring at her with her clear eyes.

Clear but there was fear and pain within them.

"Miss Evans!!!"

She only snapped out of it when her arm was pulled Nad she heard her name being called.

She looked at the owner of the hand before she blinked her eyes.

"What is wrong?" he asked her in furrowed brows.

If he didn't stop her then she would have plunged into the water already.

"What happened?" she asked in return.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that? You suggested we enjoy the boat but then you suddenly came here and was even close to falling off this place," Slate couldn't help but to berate her.

"I'm sorry..."

She held her head, "I guess I really am not in the best condition today."

"Then shall we go home?" Scarlet spoke behind her.

She looked at Scarlet before meekly nodding her head.

Ever since that nagging feeling, she had been remembering more and more about the past.

As they packed up, she glanced at Scarlet.

'Maybe I need to ask to get this off my chest and for me to stop having those visions.'

Even her dreams would be consisted of that time and their faces after betraying her, both trauma coming at the same time.

She was actually shock that she would still get enough sleep.

Maybe because she was subconsciously trying her best not to burden them again with her failing health.

'I think that is the only way for me to understand just what it is that's triggering all of this,' she was thinking after they rode the car and finally drove back home.

The siblings noticed that she really was quiet and didn't try to ask her what was wrong since she herself was not saying anything.

They then bid each other goodbye and went to their own unit.

Amethyst was still thinking just what she should do, and how she should bring it up.

With all those nagging feelings, she already had some thoughts but she wanted to brush them off because when they just started they didn't try to pry nor did they ask her anything.

That is why she felt as if them doing such a thing would be impossible.

But Scarlet's confidence in her doing what Scarlet needed made the nagging feeling worst.

And because of this, she had no choice but to confront it now.

If she keeps delaying then surely all those memories will return and hunt her no matter what she do.

So despite saying goodbye just a few minutes ago, she took a deep breath and went to their unit.

"Hi," she smiled when Slate opened the door.

"I want to speak with Scarlet," she then said.

Slate moved to the side allowing her to enter.

"There's something I wanted to ask," she said when she saw Scarlet.

"What is it?" Scarlet asked her with a smile.

"Uhmmm..."

As she started she looked at Slate.

He understood what she meant and left them as he went to the study room.

"What's wrong? Is there a problem?" Scarlet asked seeing how serious she looks.

"Do you... Do you by chance looked in my past? Do you by chance know me?" Amethyst asked filled with uncertainty.

Scarlet was stunned and stared at her blankly for a good while.

"Oh... we..."

She didn't know what to say or how to stay that they looked into that author when she was thinking about that author being connected to Amethyst.

Seeing her reaction Amethysts heart dropped, "You looked into me... no wonder you were so sure that I can do it... not because you trust me..."

Tears dropped, she felt her heart ripping once again as she remembered the betrayal from five years ago.

"No, Amethyst I trust you okay. At the same time, that part pf us looking into you... that's..."

Scarlet didn't know how to explain for even if it was before or after what had happened during her sickness, they still looked into her.

"I'm sorry..."

Amethyst stood up and left.

She couldn't stay longer and looks at Amethyst without seeing the face of that person, and the shadow of those people.

She took her jeys from her unit and drove away from that place.

"Slate..."

Worry filled Scarlets face when Slate came out, obviously he had heard.

"We still looked into her, we still checked her past without her permission. And we kept quiet about it instead of being honest. She has the right to be angry," he said with a sigh.
