The scotch they had at the hotel was not nearly as good as the one Paul used to drink back at home. But it had the same effect so he kept drinking it.

Right now he was sitting on the couch in the living room and was looking out the window and to the city beyond while thinking of Regina.

Thinking of her, Paul downed the rest of his glass before he refilled it again. The last conversation he had with Regina had kept playing in his mind again and again like a broken record.

She had never said the words specifically, but she told him she still loved him and she refused to settle for part of him because she wanted everything.

So now they were at a stalemate. What she wanted he could not give her, and what he was giving to her she was not happy with just that much.
