Chapitre 197: Battle in the Capital

The scene descended into chaos. Shoppers and pedestrians scrambled to get out of the crossfire and into safety, causing quite a stampede. The royal guards, who were lagging a ways behind, were instantly obstructed by the crowd. Meanwhile, the assassins who were all dressed as normal citizens charged towards the royal entourage with their weapons raised. 

Xiao Yuhan and Yan Qiuyun were backed up against the hairpin stand. The owner had fled once he realized what was happening, leaving his wares unattended. Yan Qiuyun pushed Xiao Yuhan behind her and grabbed two of the sharpest-looking hairpins.

"From now on, I will bring my weapon with me when I go out," she said decisively.       

"Yun-er, don't stand so far in front; it's not safe." Xiao Yuhan had gotten over the initial shock and was now observing the situation with wide eyes. Despite the fear rising in his chest, he still tried to pull his wife back.
