The force in which my door opens, jerks me awake.
I didn't have time to rub my eyes when I see an angry looking aunt Mary in my room and a self-contented looking Lisa behind her.
Shit.
I slowly gulp.
"What is this I'm hearing about you sneaking out of the house on Friday and not coming back till Sunday?" She folds her arms together.
Damn you Lisa.
"I-" Before I could talk, Lisa interuppts me.
"I didn't want to tell you this but, when I confronted her about it, she insulted me and called me a wench." She sniffs.
What?
"A what?" Aunt Mary scoffs and looks at me. "It seem it's been a while since I've dealt with you, that's why you dare insult my daughter."
"Aunt Mary, please I can explain-" She slaps me.
"I don't want to hear a single word from you."
"Please." I start to sob.
"Don't." She warns me and I keep my mouth shut.
She moves and drags me by my hair.
"Clearly, you don't understand your place in this house."
....
Hours later after the maltreatment, I stayed curled up beside my bed in pain.
"You know, you're so pathetic." Lisa speaks up from the door of my room. "You could have avoided all this if you had just gotten on your knees. But you decided take the hard way out."
She walks to me and bends to my level.
"It's a pity I had to put in a little lie to make it more fun." She rakes her eyes all over my body. "Look at you, all curled up and in pain." She chuckles. "Totally worth it." She stands up and leaves.
.....
The next day, I found it out to move well. I missed the bus, and I didn't have enough for a cab fare.
Walking to school made it worse. I felt pain everywhere.
My head, my back, my stomach, my legs, my hands, everywhere.
I looked and walked like I'd been hit by a bus.
My legs felt like they could crumble any second and every now and then, I felt dizzy.
By the time I got to school, first period was already half over.
With every inch of strength I had in me, I walked to my locker.
Maybe I'll sit by my locker till first period is over. Maybe by then the pain would have reduced.
Maybe.
Just before I left the house, I took some meds to help with the pain.
"What happened to you?" I jump a little.
Just what I needed.
"Nothing." I keep walking to my locker.
"You can't seriously tell me it's nothing."
"I thought I told you not to butt into my business anymore." I pause to catch my breath and I try not to show it.
"I thought I told you I can't promise that." He replies and I roll my eyes.
I keep walking to my locker, not bothering to reply him.
Why is my locker so far away?
"What's wrong with you?" He asks again but I ignore him.
He then walks to my front and blocks my way.
"What happened to you?" He asks more sternly and I look at him.
"You don't give up do you?" I fold my arms together.
"Not when someone's hurt."
"And that someone doesn't want you to butt in her business." I walk around him but he holds my arm tight to keep me in place and I yelp in pain.
He releases me immediately and frowns.
Shit.
"Wh-"
"Cramps." I say quickly to cover up.
"What?"
"I have period cramps."
"I've seen my sister have cramps and it's not like this."
"Well, we all have different ways." He frowns again.
He nods gently and something in his eyes tells me he doesn't believe me.
"If you say so." He turns and walks away.
I sigh as I continue my painful journey towards my locker.
