Two Years Later....
"C'mon Rave, don't be like this!" Chloe pleads. "It's just a night out."
"You know I can't." I say as we both sit down.
Chloe has been trying to persuade me for days to go to a party with her.
But I know I don't have that privilege.
"And why can't you?" She brings out her note from her bag.
"Because aunt Mary wouldn't allow me to."
"Can't you sneak out?"
"And get myself killed? No thanks."
"I know your aunt's strict, but can't she let you go for one little party?" She whines.
"You have no idea how strict she is." I mutter.
"I mean c'mon! Lisa does how she likes!" Just as her name is mentioned, she walks in with her two minions trailing behind her.
"Lisa's her daughter." I state.
"And you are her niece!" She raises her hand in frustration.
"Just leave it Chloe."
"I just want to go to a party with my best friend." She whines. "It's not supposed to be this hardddddd."
"Things aren't the way you expect them to be Chloe. You just have to accept it the way it is." She huffs.
I have been attending Clover's High for over two years now. I've made a few friends and Chloe has become my best friend.
Somehow.
No matter how hard I try not to talk to her, she still bothers me.
So I just gave up and just let her be. Turns out, she's a pretty good friend.
I haven't met her brother though. It's like he's never around.
"Why can't you just live with us?" My dad knew your dad. They were like best buds."
According to Chloe's dad, my dad and her dad were friends since college. They lost contact after my mom gave birth to me and we had to move.
"I really wish I could come live with you guys but I can't."
"Why?"
"Aunt Mary is my legal guardian. She can't give me up unless she says so."
"Well, that's just fucked up." She rests on her chair and the teacher walks in.
.....
I unlock the door to the house and its quiet. Probably because aunt Mary and uncle Mark are at work, and Lisa at her boyfriend's house.
I'm about to go to my room when I see uncle Mark in the living room. So I start to tip toe to my room but he sees me.
"Aren't you going to greet your uncle?" I shut my eyes and count one to three.
"I didn't expect you to be home this early."
Especially when the house is empty!
"Yeah, there was a problem at work. Come here." He pats the space beside him.
"I'm good where I am."
"I said, come.here." He says sternly and I slowly walk to his side.
"Here." He pats the empty space again and before I could sit, he grabs me and throws me on the chair.
"You know, truthfully I got off work early because I couldn't stop thinking about you." I shake my head. "You were on my mind all day." He unbuckles his belt and I try to run away but he pushes me back on the chair and holds me.
"Don't worry, I'll be quick."
"No please. No!" I struggle and kick to protect myself but he's more stronger than me.
"Stay put!" He hits my face once.
The pain stops my hearing for a second and my vision becomes blurry.
"I'm sorry sweetie but you were just resisting. I had to hit you in order for you to stop." He tries to explain as he rips my shirt apart.
Just as he does that, the door opens and slams shut.
"Shit." He curses and quickly gets off me.
I get a cushion and use it to cover my chest. I quickly wipe my tears but they don't stop coming.
"Urghhhh! I hate David!" Lisa stomps in and sits angrily.
"What's up darling." Uncle Mark clears his throat.
"I don't know why Dav- What's she doing here?" She glares at me.
"She had a problem at school. That's why she's crying."
"Nobody cares about your sick pathetic life Raven. Get over yourself." She spits and I cry harder.
"Lisa! I did not raise you to talk to your cousin that way. Behave!" Uncle's Mark says sternly and I stand up.
"Would you please excuse me." I say and walk to the door.
"Pathetic." I hear Lisa mutter as I pass her side.
As soon as I closed the door, I ran. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.
Without looking back.
