"Do you know where Dairon is?" Sinos asked the following day when he dropped by to check on her.

"Good question." She tried not to sound anxious even though worry was gnawing at her insides. He could have slipped away to take care of whatever he needed to do in secret but again, Ulke was yet to get caught. What if the demon had managed to trace the matter back to Dairon? Would he try to retaliate?

There wasn't any need to make a guess. Of course Ulke would retaliate. And if he managed to catch Dairon, the ending was unpredictable.

She felt her own pulse and it helped her relax a little. Her life was linked to Dairon's soul. If anything were to happen to him, she would feel it.

"Dairon is still alright for now." She pressed her hand against her chest. "But we cannot be certain of what will happen in the next minute. We have to get him back as soon as we can."
