Chapitre 41: Trouble came knocking

Should we go faster or is the tempo ok? Tell me in comments.

It's been two moons since I arrived to Slavers Bay and we will finally get some action.

Since the last battle New Lhazar grew a lot livelier, now standing at about 300 000 people it's the first time in history for the shepherds to unite under one leader. Me.

The children were happily running on the streets where new houses were being built left and right.

Adults were going about their work, some of them went to tend to the fields outside, others went to new pastures some distance from the city.

Unfortunately we can't just snap our fingers and have the new houses done. The whole thing takes time, but we'll get there eventually.

Arthur brought the equipment from Winter Fort as promised and now 6000 fully equipped infantry is being trained day and night by their seniors from Elite 1st legion.

Yes. No surprise I went with this setting for our army, well there are differences though.

Each legion was split into 8 men squads with a leader of their choice in rank of Sergeant, they had 2 prospects which were orphan boys or slaves to take care of their equipment and everyday needs and one horse.

Ten of such squads made a company of 80 people with Captain leading them with his second in command.

6 Company's made a battalion of 480 Infantry soldiers with a Major managing them.

Last but not least 10 battalions made a legion of infantry and archers. The numbers don't match right? Yep. That's why I added Elites as a separate 1200 soldiers with their own commanding structure.

I really wanted to call them Pretorians, but fuck me I will maybe do so in the future.

A Colonel was responsible for one legion with a prefect's responsibility was to take care of supplies, medics and all that stuff.

I want a similar setup creating cavalry legions with heavy cavalry as a special unit.

Additionally we increased our light cavalry by adding a mix of open minded Dothraki and Lazareene people to the the pot and now stand at 6000 light riders. Yep. 1st Cavalry Legion. Predictable ain't I?

It was funny to watch them adjust to our equipment and way of fighting, but the shepherds spirit and Dothraki skill with horses was something else entirely.

I have to admit I started to respect them a bit.

There was no end of disputes, but Mirri and my new blood riders Oro, Vorsakko and Qotho took care of it.

The three of them are only 12 years old and that's one of the reasons I chose them, the other is that they are damn talented when it comes to fighting.

Even I can't take two of them on at the same time not even mentioning three.

Oro uses two swords like me, he saw Arthur fighting during the raid and follows him like a puppy.

Qotho on the other hand is brilliant with arakh and shows talents in strategy and leading the troops.

Vorsakko, like his name is like a flame ready to burn anyone who shows even a hint of disrespect to me.

With his spear even I have problems when he starts defending.

It's nice to have someone so dedicated to you, but his clouded mind filled with almost fanatical devotion to me can be scary as well.

He almost killed the slaves of a screamer who challenged me for the Khal position. A few "sword to his balls and eye" moments later and no one tried ever again.

Good old times. Yesterday.

We were riding on our horses further north from my city.

Since we didn't even start building the wall yet we had to be very careful and for that the reason I had Dothraki groups patrol in every direction hundreds of leagues from the city.

"Kisha ozigereo rek gref!" (We need that wall!) I said in my broken Dothraki speeding with my blood riders and the rest of the screamers in the direction the scouts reported sighting different Khalasar at.

"Qoyaan of anhoon qoy, akka gref laz't nakho lekh dothraki!" (Blood of my blood, even the largest wall can't stop Dothraki!) Oro laughed loudly as he answered with the other two echoing him.

"Don't be overconfident Oro! Everyone can be stopped. How would our horses ride up the walls that are filled with archers and other weapons?" I was still speaking in Dothraki, but the language was really crude and hard to pronounce.

The things I said made Vorsakko think about my words.

"Blood of my blood is it really that different? I mean your home..." he was a good and curious lad, an orphan like the other two. It made me happy that there were some people who were more than just barbarians.

"It is Vorsakko, big stone castles like Meereen, iron clad knights that even your arrows and swords can not brake. There is always more to the world than this Dothraki sea. You're smart Vorsakko, you know what I'm talking about. Dothraki are unmatched when it comes to horse riding, we are the best when it comes to fighting here... But do you remember why are we in this place in the first place? We are here because we were running away from better warriors and we didn't get our revenge." I couldn't say "you" as their Khal, something Maya specifically warned me about.

Seeing them grip tight their rains tighter I knew I hit the nail on the head. "Why are you so angry? There will come a time when the whole world will be our pasture, we will ride from the west to the east, from north to south and no one will stand in our way! Follow me and we will do what no Dothraki ever done! From crossing the sea to riding our enemies in the lands where no Dothraki ever stood!" Maybe I went a bit overboard with the speech, but fuck it!

When I looked to my back and saw their determined eyes and felt the excitement and reverence for the little ol me even without concentrating on their feelings I knew it was worth it.

The only reason they didn't shout was because we were tracking the forces of the other Khal.

It was our fifth day of riding when we spotted a camp.

I've sent some riders to check what it was and bingo!

"My Khal, about six hundred. It has to be Khal's Aggo vanguard or scouts." He whispered in the darkness that surrounded us.

"What are they doing now?" I asked and looked to the camp, but it was too far away.

"They probably raided some slavers or merchants and are now eating, drinking and fucking." the scout had a look of jealousy on his face.

It pissed me off as well as my ass and balls hurt from the time spent in the saddle, no fucking way I will allow them to enjoy when I and my men are like this!

"Ride them... Now." I told my blood riders and Kos for each Khas.

They matched my evil smile as we got on our horses. "Surround them quietly, don't let even one escape. I want the slaves alive! Understood?" I looked at the leaders with a hand on my sword.

"Yes my Khal." The voices of everyone here confirming my orders made me smile. "Go. You will know when to charge."

They moved almost silently executing my orders.

I waited with my young blood riders and 2000 men and when I confirmed with the more experienced screamers it was enough time we charged.

The Red was having fun competing with other horses who will be the first there. Stupid! It's obvious he should wait until I place a bet with the riders, but now it's too late.

It's not even worth to describe the battle, we rode inside the camp at almost the same time time from four different directions cutting through the surprised group.

It lasted about 10 minutes for the last of them to surrender or hit the ground dead.

I went down from my friends back and came into a well lit tent. From the looks of it's extravaganza it had to belong to a rich merchant.

Barrels of wine stood in the corner and a sheep was being baked on the fire making the place smell blissfully.

There were some women hiding in the corner of the tent terrified as I looked at them.

"Come here." I said in Dothraki, but they didn't move. I tried the same in Valyrian, still nothing.

"Fuck!" I got irritated and shouted in common tongue.

The next thing I saw was a woman with a scar on her face getting up. Huh? "Can you understand me?" I asked and she nodded. She didn't look like someone from Essos, more like a Westerosi.
