As Shirou watched the white dragon roam freely in the sky, he knew their defeat was inevitable unless they could take it down.
He approached Arcueid with a question.
"Arcueid, can you make the 'Moon Fall'?"
"I can, but I can't create too large of a moon."
"Enough to suppress the white dragon will suffice," he replied, pointing towards a valley. "Go there and wait for me."
"What are you planning to do?"
"I'm going to lure the dragon over."
"No, Arthur! It's too dangerous!" Morgan protested.
"It's fine," he said, looking up at the white dragon with a sneer. "Trading wisdom for power is a foolish decision. A scum like him couldn't hope to scratch me!" He turned to address his people. "Agravain, Scathach, Merlin, and Arcueid, be ready to move out together."
Although they were somewhat worried about Shirou, they knew better than to question his orders. The situation was urgent, and there was no time for sentimentality.
Shirou manifested his black wings and soared into the sky. He projected dozens of swords that flew towards the white dragon.
"Clang, clang, clang -"
The sword blades bounced harmlessly off the white dragon's scales, failing to cause any damage. Shirou furrowed his brow and clenched his hand tightly.
Broken Phantasm!
A loud boom shook the air as smoke filled the surroundings, but it still did not harm the white dragon in the slightest. However, the attack succeeded in drawing the dragon's attention towards him.
"Come!" He declared loudly. "You face the king of men, the one who shall put an end to your false godhood!"
"Roar, roar, roar!"
The white dragon roared, its beastly eyes fixed on Shirou. It opened its mouth and spewed a stream of magical breath.
Shirou projected dozens of shields, but as soon as they made contact, they were easily shattered with a continuous "crackling" sound. Fortunately, Shirou was quick enough to escape the attack range by using his wings to fly out of range.
The Holy Lance Rhongomyniad on the white dragon's head emitted a radiant glow, and a pillar of light shot out towards him.
Using his wings as a magical propulsion system, Shirou swiftly dodged to the side. The pillar of light whipped through the air, sweeping away everything in its path.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
As the pillar of light passed by, griffins and wyverns alike were reduced to dust, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
"Scum is always scum!" Shirou laughed loudly. "Giving up wisdom for power has made you nothing but a fool!"
The white dragon roared in response and charged towards him.
He led the white dragon towards a predetermined location and shouted, "Merlin!"
From his hiding spot nearby, Merlin raised his staff and, with a loud "clang," cast a strange spell that briefly restrained the dragon that was following Shirou.
The next moment -
"Moon Fall!"
A small meteorite, about two hundred meters in diameter, hurtled towards the white dragon with incredible speed, leaving a fiery trail in its wake. The ground shook and trembled as it approached, and the air was filled with the sound of its descent.
"BOOM!"
The impact was deafening, as the meteorite crashed down onto the white dragon with incredible force. The dragon let out a deafening howl as it was directly smashed down between the mountains, its body crumpling under the sheer force of the impact.
The powerful shockwave that followed shook the surrounding trees, causing them to fly backwards like leaves in a hurricane. Even the soldiers in the distance were thrown back by the force of the impact, crashing into the trees and spitting out blood as they struggled to regain their footing.
At this moment, Shirou had no luxury to care about them.
Arcueid's face turned pale. Her body hadn't fully recovered, and without the support of Gaia, using Moon Fall was already beyond her physical limits. It was a feat that even the strongest would find difficult.
Despite this, she did not refuse. Her strike was truly magnificent.
The once-green field was now barren, revealing only exposed soil. A huge crater was left behind as evidence of the sheer power of the Moon Fall.
They threw the white dragon into the crater without any concern for fairness, and then Shirou projected countless Noble Phantasms and bombarded the dragon relentlessly.
Meanwhile, Artoria held up her Caliburn, her magical energy surging as she fired a beam of light resembling a cannon.
Merlin chanted spells rapidly, and his incantations formed a barrier of light that shot beams resembling lasers at the dragon.
Scathach drew the Primordial Rune, which absorbed True Ether, and unleashed a powerful barrage of attacks.
Merem's Sky King also joined in, attacking the dragon with all its might.
With the exception of Arcueid, who was still weakened from earlier, everyone present was using their strongest skills to take down the dragon.
They weren't fighting against mere humans, but a god. Morality had no place in such a battle.
This was war, and in war, those who speak of morality are doomed to fail.
Shirou fell to the ground, panting heavily and drenched in cold sweat, having expended all his magical energy.
In this moment, he missed the vast magical energy he possessed during the Fourth Holy Grail War. With that power, he wouldn't need to calculate his usage and could spend it as he pleased. But now, after his explosive attack, he felt significantly weakened.
But even if they couldn't kill the white dragon, at least they should have severely wounded it, right?
However -
Within the crater, white light flickered amidst the storm and thunder. A terrifying beam of light pierced through the smoke, and with a deafening roar of thunder, it blasted towards Shirou.
His eyes widened in surprise. Shirou had unleashed all of his attacks and was feeling his strength wane, exhaustion setting in. Suddenly, Holy Lance Rhongomyniad descended like a shadow, leaving him no time to react.
Just as the light was about to land, a figure dashed in and pushed him aside. The figure wielded the Caliburn, which emitted a powerful beam, but the attack was effortlessly overpowered by the Holy Lance's light cannon.
"Boom!"
The figure was sent flying through the air, landing far away and drenched in blood.
"Artie!" Shirou rushed over to her side.
Blood spilled from her body, and her once vibrant eyes had faded to a lifeless stare. "My king, are you okay?" she managed to ask.
"I'm not," he replied, his voice heavy with concern.
"I'm sorry," she said, her voice growing faint. "I fear this is as far as I can go." She closed her eyes, her breathing slowing.
Although the King appeared composed and unemotional, his heart was filled with immense pain. He summoned Merlin, entrusting him with the care of Artoria. "Take her back to Cornwall and ensure she receives the best possible treatment."
Merlin felt a twinge of heartache as he took her away from the battlefield. Turning to the King, he asked, "What plans do you have for this place?"
"Obey my command and hold your tongue," the king responded calmly.
"I understand." Merlin nodded and left with Artoria.
As the King turned his back, the god crawled out of the pit, and their gaze met. Human eyes met divine pupils, and they locked onto each other.
Shirou regained control of the "Evil" and encased his body in it, forming the towering figure of the Evil Giant. With a mighty roar, he charged forward and launched a fierce attack at the White Dragon.
Merlin mounted Dun Stallion and returned to Cornwall with Artoria. He brought her to the palace and attempted to heal her with a spell, but to no avail.
The factor of the Red Dragon began to fade, and its heart grew weaker with each passing moment. Accepting the gods' blow in human form had come at a great cost.
Merlin felt his palm shaking, though he couldn't explain why. His heart was heavy with sorrow, no longer able to detach himself as a mere spectator, but now truly experiencing his own grief.
But why did he, a mere incubus, feel such emotions? It didn't make sense.
Merlin wondered if these were simulated human emotions he was experiencing. He felt confused and uncertain, unable to understand why he, as an incubus, would be feeling this way.
Guinevere set aside the documents and spoke urgently, "What caused her injuries to be so severe?"
Merlin didn't give a direct answer, and instead asked, "Do the fairies possess any spells that could save her?"
"No, they do not," she replied, shaking her head.
A look of despair washed over Merlin's face.
Gritting her teeth, Guinevere declared, "Give her to me."
"What do you plan to do?"
"We must go to Avalon," she replied, "If we use Avalon's power, we can keep her alive."
"Okay," Merlin nodded.
Guinevere made her way to the lake and transformed into the fairy Vivian, temporarily abandoning her human form. She opened the entrance to the Avalon, and Merlin carried Artoria inside.
