Her body was on fire. Not falling unconscious and not staying fully conscious. She felt miserable and utterly defeated.
Anger took over her heart. The pain was long forgotten as she closed her eyes. As good as she is at relieving other people's pain, she has never tried it on herself.
Eyes closed, the pail was bound to get worse. She tried to ignore it and in its stead, thought of her mother's happy smile. Her father's gentle and warm embrace and her brother's familiar scent.
With each beautiful memory of her family members, she forgot the pain. She fell into a state that was neither alive nor dead. Her soul detached from her body.
As it sunk deeper into the water, strange eerie voices filled her ears. Her body stayed afloat while her soul sank deeper into the abyss that caused her pain.
A voice was calling out to her. The source of life that resided in the pool. The deeper she swarm, the warmer she felt.
