"Mother, how did that happen? We're a family of djinn, and she was a human being. What exactly happened that made her soul and Zain's soul settle in the other's body?" Shahzad felt depressed. He hated sharing things that belonged to him. Finding out that Zamarad and Zain have half of each other's soul was more than he could accept.
He wanted to own everything that belonged to her. Loving her had come as an instinct for him and protecting her was his very reason. Warda knew her son well. Not wanting the mix-up to go on further she began the tale of a desperate mother.
"On the Night when Zain was born, the mystical realm was in a state of turmoil. There was a war going on between the witches, Fae and the djinn. Being the reigning queen, I wasn't given a chance to savor the moment my baby was born. I was pulled into the bloody battle field where I had to fight to take back power.
It was an auspicious night. Though the hybrid weren't part of the war, they were affected by it nonetheless. Being part of the war, I had forgotten to perform the child birth ritual. Of course there were consequences to that. By the time the war was over, I realized that Zain's soul was fragile and he was almost death.
It was after several desperate attempt to revive him that I heard the cry of a baby. I was walking around the hybrid realm when the baby's cries summoned my presence. Upon appearing before the little girl, I was hit by an epiphany. On the night that Zain was born, another baby was also born.
It was the little angel I found abandoned crying in the crib. That night, I had ordered the seer to tell the parents of all the children born on the same night that the child would bring a disaster to them. When I gave the orders, I didn't think about how the child who was unfortunate enough to be born on that night be affected.
Upon the birth of my prince, I realized that his soul was very fragile. Afraid of his soul being fully owned by someone else, I gave that order. The signs were there. The auspicious night occurs once in decades. No ordinary child would live through the night. This made me panic and condemn the survivor to a life of doom.
If I had known the consequences then, I would have still done the same since my ultimate goal was to protect my son. What I feared the most happened despite my despicable act. Zain began to lose a small part of his soul as days went by. When I met the baby in the crib, I realized that she was a carrier.
She can easily give her soul and accept any other soul. At first I felt wary of the situation but then, I thought, what would be the worst thing that could happen once I give Zain half of her soul and insert his broken one into her boy? I did just that. Finding out that her parents abandoned her was hard for me to digest especially after discovering why they abandoned her.
Even so, I selfishly continued to feed her my essence to keep her alive. By the time her body adopted the other soul and accepted it as her own, the damage was already done. Out of my desire to compensate her, I again made a decision to tie her fate to his. What an ignorant fool I had become.
Their souls were tied together, and everything became well again. She took all the pain that was meant for Zain. Surprisingly, she never cried. She would rather keep quiet even as a child than cry before her family. It was as though she knew that her family had already sold her out to the devil. The girl grew up normally after that.
Then an oracle was declared by the seer. She was the future queen of the Mystical realm. She would be the most powerful being to walk this world. More powerful than any have existed before her and that would exist after her. The girl bore the mark of royalty.
Somehow, the seer who carried out my orders decided to keep that vital information about her from me. She had known from the birth of the girl that she was no ordinary being. The day I made my existence known to her parents, the father told me about the mark she had. In my blind despair, I didn't pay much attention to the mark.
I just went ahead to fulfil my wish of keeping my child alive. Then it dropped on us like a bomb that she was a royal bride of the royal family. I had already bound her soul to Zain hence I planned to make her his bride. That was until you marked her. It was too late for me to retract your mark.
Thus, I let fate play its card. Unfortunately, taking things from her without her consent had its backlash. Whenever she was feeling vengeful or any dark emotions, it would be Zain that goes berserk. He shares her soul and hence her feelings. Zamarad is an innocent soul that carries the darkness of the world in her heart.
At the moment, her soul is filled with the good energy and her soul is at peace. There is no guarantee that she would remain that way forever, however. Zain didn't get only her darkness but also half of her powers. Since they originally dint belong to him, whenever another auspicious night occurs, he would go rogue and become unbridled.
Afraid of the consequences, I had to consult the witches who helped me seal his powers. Fiona was the witch that helped keep him under control then but there was a price to pay. At the moment, you don't need to know what the price to be paid is. However, you should both keep that girl alive.
I'm sorry for keeping the two of you in the dark. I had told Zain only half of the truth but today I would like you both to know that your reign and the rest of this world existence, depend solely on the wellbeing of the girl." Warda looked away from her sons who were looking at her like a monster.
She had known all along that the things she had done was likely to sentence the innocent child to a life of misery and suffering. She had then passed that ridiculous law that for Shahzad to obtain the throne, he must have a child born to her. She took another precious thing from her. The right to decide for herself.
She had known that the moment the girl came to power, the first person she would want to kill was her. To save herself from the wrath, she had tied their fate together by placing a grandson and her son in the picture. Then she had placed a spell on the poor girl to make her concede to fate.
Shahzad wasn't allowed to appear before her until the spell was broken. This was a well-calculated plan since the face-to-face meeting between the two would trigger the girl's powers and unlock her past. However, if they meet after a baby was born, the trigger wouldn't be pulled and they would be safe for some time.
Of course she had covered her reasons with very attractive reasons when she convinced her son to impregnate the girl. Even at this critical time, she wasn't ready to confess to all the things that she had done wrong. The only reason she had revealed the truth was to maintain the peace between her sons.
She was a queen for a reason. Like every other leader, she was ruthless and unforgiving when it involved her loved ones. She was ready to do everything again just to maintain the balance. Shahzad clenched his fists as he looked at his mother. What has she done? He was already feeling guilty for getting her pregnant and yet, she did nothing short of murder.
She stole from her not only her soul but also the love of her family members. How was he supposed to accept everything that he just heard? His gaze shifted to his younger brother who was in shock as well. He had tears in his eyes as he spotted a far away look. Shahzad shook from fury. Was he supposed to blame his brother for possessing something that never belonged to him?
What do you thing Shahzad will do in order to keep Zamarad?
