A/N: Since nobody liked the chapter. I decided to redo a little bit. So here it is.

Just before the gang had reached Rustboro City, they were traveling through the forest where Ashlyn and May managed to catch a Wurmple which they both hope that they'll evolve into a Beautifly. Ashlyn decided to name hers 'Willow'. May also managed to catch a Bellosom as well.
Ashlyn also had a double battle with one of the Franklin brothers which she had a good time fighting against him.

The gang was now at the Pokémon center in Rustboro City where Ashlyn is doing some last-minute training before heading off to the gym. Pulin (Dewgong) has been helping Finn (Mudkip) with a few water type attacks which he was enjoying. Cybele (Shiny Chestnaught) was helping Kazuki (Treecko) learn a few grass type moves which Kazuki was happy to learn. Ashlyn planned on using Finn and Kazuki in the Rustboro gym.
"Wow, you're training hard for the gym, huh Ashlyn?" Max asked.
"Yup. I just want to make sure both of my Pokémon are ready for the gym." Ashlyn replied.
"Do you know what type of gym leader is at the Rustboro gym?" Max questioned.
"Roxanne, who's a Rock type trainer." Ashlyn answered.
"So that's why you're training Finn and Kazuki." Max realized.
"Yes, I brought Pulin and Cybele to help them out." Ashlyn stated.
"Why?" Max asked.
"A trainer's older Pokémon make excellent teachers for the younger or newer Pokémon." Brock advised.
"Really?" Max questioned.
Brock nodded, "That's right. It helps newer Pokémon get stronger."
"I agree." May agreed, "Ashlyn's Charizard also helped both our Torchic's."
Ashlyn nodded.

The sun was nearly down when training was done. Ashlyn got all of her Pokémon healed and rewarded them with dinner. The group had dinner and slept at the Pokémon center for the night.

The next day, the gang headed towards the Rustboro gym. Ashlyn was excited to battle Roxanne. She knew that Roxanne might be a little bit difficult, but she had faith in her Pokémon.

On the way to the gym, they came across a Poliwag who had some sort of tag with a symbol on its tail. Knowing that they're on their way to the gym, Brock suggested that maybe the gym leader might know who Poliwag belongs to. Max gently carried the Tadpole Pokémon and the gang headed towards the gym.
"There you are, Poliwag!" A female voice called out.
The gang turned to the voice and saw a girl, almost Ashlyn's age, with red eyes and brown hair, which is tied up into two pigtails with a red bow, with a small black U-stripe. She wore pink tights and a small tie-like pink scarf around her neck. She wore a white shirt with a purple school uniform dress and a pair of purple shoes. Ashlyn recognized her as Roxanne the Rustboro gym leader.
"Did you find this Poliwag?" Roxanne asked as she stood in front of the gang.
Max nodded, "Yeah. We came across it." He said as he handed Poliwag to Roxanne.
"Thank you so much." Roxanne thanked Max.
Then they heard footsteps coming from behind Roxanne. It was a group of kids who were probably around the same age as Max.
"Excuse me, are you Roxanne the Rustboro gym leader?" Ashlyn asked.
"Why yes I am. I'm also the teacher of the Pokemon Academy here in Rustboro City." Roxanne confirmed.
"My name is Ashlyn Ketchum. I'm here to have a gym battle." Ashlyn explained.
"Oh a challenger huh?" Roxanne said, "Well I accept. It would be an honor to battle a champion."
"Champion?" A little girl asked, curious.
"Ashlyn happens to be the winner of the Silver Conference," Max bragged, "She's also the winner of the Indigo League and the Orange League."
The kids looked at Ashlyn with awe as she rubbed the back of her head sheepishly.
"Wow, really?" A boy asked, excited.
"Yes, I am." Ashlyn replied.
"Follow me to the gym. It's this way." Roxanne instructed.
Roxanne directed the gang along with the group of kids to the Rustboro gym.

The Rustboro gym reminded Ashlyn of Pewter City's gym. It nearly looked like Pewter Gym because the building was modeled to look like a big chunk of pointy rocks, and even the battlefield was a rocky one.
"Ashlyn, I have a request." Roxanne said.
"What kind of request?" Ashlyn asked.
"I would like to record our battle on tape. I wish to use it for my future classes." Roxanne requested.
"Sure, I don't mind." Ashlyn accepted her request.
"Thank you." Roxanne smiled.
Then the two girls went on opposite sides of the field.
"This is an official Rustboro City Gym Match, the Challenger is battling for a Stone Badge." The referee announced, "The Gym Leader and the Challenger will use two Pokémon each and the match ends when all two Pokémon of either opponent are unable to continue battling. The Challenger will attack first, the Challenger will be permitted to make substitutions during the match, the Gym Leader will not."
"Ready, Ashlyn?" Roxanne asked.
Ashlyn nodded, "Yeah!"
"Let the battle begin!" The referee shouted.
"Go Geodude!" Roxanne let out her Rock type Pokémon.
"Geodude!" Geodude appeared.
"Finn, let's go!" Ashlyn released her Mud Fish Pokémon.
"Mudkip!" Mudkip appeared.
"Geodude, use Rollout!" Geodude curled into a ball and rolled towards Finn.
"Finn, Double Team!" Finn created copies of himself which made Geodude pass through a copy.
"Water Gun!" Finn shot a stream of water from his mouth and it hit the back of Geodude.
Geodude grunted at the attack and was pushed back.
"Geodude!" Roxanne called out, "Are you okay?"
Geodude shook his head and stared back at Finn, "Geo (I'm fine)!"
"Okay then, use Stealth Rock!" Multiple glowing rocks rise in front of Geodude's body. The rocks then stop glowing and are fired towards Finn, landing in the ground around him.
"Finn, Ice Beam on the field!" A light blue ball forms in front of Finn's mouth and light blue beams shoot out of it at the ground, covering the ground with ice. Geodude was able to jump off the ground when the field was frozen. However, it slightly slides to the left.
"Geodude, use Stone Edge!" Geodude slammed its fists onto the ground, causing pointed light blue rock pillars to appear out of the ground and rush towards Finn.
"Jump onto the pillars!" Finn jumped onto the pillars and headed towards Geodude. When he jumped off the last one, "Now Surf!"
Finn created a large wave and rode it. It then crashes down on Geodude.
"Geodude!" Roxanne cried out in worry.
The water soon subsided which revealed Geodude who panted heavily in exhaustion.
"Geodude, use Sandstorm!" Geodude summoned a tornado of sand and it headed towards Finn.
"Finn, use Hail!" Finn opens his mouth and releases a beam of wind and light blue glowing snow or a gust of wind with snow which froze the sandstorm along with Geodude.
"Iron Tail!" Finn's tail glowed a metallic color and he ran towards Geodude. Then he slammed his tail onto Geodude, breaking it out of the ice. When the ice was off of Geodude, it showed with swirls in its eyes which meant that it passed out.
"Geodude is unable to battle! The victory goes to Mudkip!" The referee announced.
"Well done, Finn." Ashlyn complimented the Mud Fish Pokémon
Finn smiled, "Mud Mudkip!"
Roxanne returned Geodude, "You did your best, Geodude."
Then she let out her second Pokémon, "Go Nosepass!"
"Nosepass!" Nosepass appeared on the field.
"Nosepass?" Ashlyn takes out her Rotom phone and scans the Pokémon.
[Nosepass, the Compass Pokémon. Nosepass has a nose that functions as an electromagnet and determines location by moving its nose about.]
Ashlyn returned Finn, "Alright then. Kazuki, time to battle!" She released her Wood Gecko Pokémon.
"Treecko." Kazuki appeared on the field.
"Nosepass, use Zap Cannon!" Nosepass's nose glows yellow and it fires a massive blast of yellow electricity from it at Kazuki.
"Energy Ball!" Kazuki puts his hands together and forms a green ball of energy in between them. Then he brings his hands forward and fires the ball at Nosepass.
Both balls slammed into each other, causing a small explosion. The smoke slightly covers the field. Ashlyn decides to take that advantage.
"Grassy Terrain and then Leafage!" Kazuki creates a dome of green energy that surrounds him, making the area around them glow light-green. Then releases multiple glowing green leaves from his body. The leaves then spiral in a tornado-like fashion, before heading towards Nosepass who grunted at the force of the attack.
"Nosepass!" Roxanne cried out in worry.
The leaves soon disappeared. Nosepass was still standing with a few bruises.
"Nosepass, are you alright?" Roxanne called out as Nosepass managed to stand up from the attack.
Nosepass nodded, "Nosepass (I'm fine)."
"Good. Now use Thunder Wave!" Nosepass's body becomes surrounded by blue electricity and fires static shock waves at Kazuki.
"Protect!" Kazuki projected a green colored barrier in front of him, protecting him from the electrical attack. When the attack died down, "Now Bullet Seed!"
Kazuki shoots many glowing yellow seeds or gold seeds surrounded in a light green aura from his mouth at Nosepass at a high velocity. Nosepass grunts at the power of the grass type attack.
Soon Kazuki stopped attacking and Nosepass stood still as it pants in exhaustion. Then it fell onto its back, causing a small dust cloud. When the dust cleared, it showed Nosepass with swirls in its eyes which meant that it fainted.
"Nosepass is unable to battle! The victory goes to Treecko!" The referee announced, "and the winner of this gym battle is Ashlyn Ketchum!"
Kazuki goes over to Ashlyn and she picks him up into her arms, "Well done, Kazuki." She smiled.
Kazuki smiled back, "Tree."
Tesla, Brock, May, and Max walk up to Ashlyn.
"That was awesome, Ashlyn!" Max exclaimed.
"Thanks Max." Ashlyn smiled.
Roxanne and the students walked up to Ashlyn.
"I must say Ashlyn, it was an honor to battle a champion." Roxanne complimented.
"Thanks. It was great to battle you, Roxanne." Ashlyn admitted.
"The video of today's match will definitely give my students a good example." Roxanne stated and held out a badge in her hand to Ashlyn, "and now I present to you the Stone Badge."
The Stone Badge was yellow and yellow-brown coloured and it was shaped like a rectangle with two of its corners more emphasized than the others.
"Thanks, Roxanne." Ashlyn slightly bowed and gently took the badge from Roxanne's hand.
"Alright! We got the Stone Badge!" Ashlyn posed with Tesla.
"Rai raichu (Badge number two)!" Tesla cheered.
"Treecko!" Kazuki smiled.

The next day, the gang took a tour of the Pokémon Academy. They were interested in the classes. Brock was interested in the class about becoming Pokémon doctors. Ashlyn and Max decided to check out the Pokémon battle class which were beginner classes. But they still enjoyed it. May was interested in the Pokémon Contest classes. They also met a boy named Kenny who was slightly scared of touching Pokémon. However, Ashlyn was able to convince him that he shouldn't be afraid of Pokémon because her Pokémon were friends and that she shared many adventures with them. Max had an argument with one of the boys, Tommy, in one of the classes. So Roxanne let the two have a Pokémon battle to prove their knowledge. Max had won the battle. Later on Team Rocket appeared and tried to take the Academy's Pokémon. Luckily the gang, Roxanne, and her class was able to retrieve the Pokémon and then Roxanne and the gang sent the trio blasting off. Max and Tommy became good friends and Kenny got over his fear of touching Pokémon.

The gang was now leaving Rustboro City. Ashlyn knew that they'll come across Devon Corporations. But also a Team Aqua Member. She knew that she would try to stop Team Magma and Team Aqua from destroying Hoenn. So now the gang was heading on towards Dewford Gym where Ashlyn will get her third gym badge.
