Madison finally decided to leave the inn and began making preparations for the journey to some other city or town. When she was leaving, the inn employees seemed to have passed out.
Sleeping on the job? That's not very professional.
Since Madison didn't want to waste any time, she just put her room key into one of the waitress's pockets and left. Her next course of action would be to find some food for the journey, a canteen, and most important of all, where she needed to go. There would be no point in leaving if she didn't know where to go.
After buying a decent-sized canteen and some dried meat, she was left with 3 bronze coins, and after asking around for a while, she was pointed in the right direction.
It turns out that outside the main gate there is a gravel road that merchants use to get to other towns. While it may not be the fastest way, it is the safest path and has the best guarantee of arriving at another town. The people she asked didn't know the names of the other towns, just how to get there. The people knew how to get there because they were told to do so if the town was destroyed so they could report what had happened.
Now that she had what she needed, Madison began on her journey. She left through the main gate but now had a big choice to make, to go left or right. After some contemplation, Madison decided to go right and began her journey elsewhere.
*
Madison had been walking for about three or four hours, and the sun looked like it would set soon. In response to the impending night, she gathered some branches, cleared out a small area, and began setting up a campsite. While starting the fire, Madison remembered the forest she had previously burned down and was extra cautious, making sure nothing else would catch fire.
Now that the camp was set up, Madison sat down around the fire and waited as the sun set. Once it had set, she waited for about an hour to make sure that no monsters or other dangers were around. She then leaned on a tree and began to doze off.
*
A roar could be heard in the distance just as Madison was about to fall asleep. What and where it was were questions she couldn't answer at this time, but the roar had sent chills up her spine.
The roar could be heard again, but this time it seemed closer than before. Madison got up and prepared herself to either fight or run. If she had a weapon she could use, she would have picked it up by now.
The mysterious creature didn't roar again, but after some more time, a faint snarl could be heard from the darkness just outside of the campfire's range of light. Madison looked closely and thought she saw two dots that were most likely the creature's eyes.
She grabbed an extra branch she had in case of the fire going out, lit it, then tossed it to where she thought she saw the beast. The plan to see if there was really a monster over there worked, but since the creature's cover had been blown, it saw no need to continue hiding.
It stood up from crouching to a bipedal position. It was slouching, and as it came closer, the horrifying creature's form became more visible. It was at least a few feet larger than Madison, covered in greyish skin, and had long sharp claws for fingers. The bones of the creature could be seen through its skin, and when it came even closer, she saw its face. Its face was similar to that of a deer's skull, but it had long antlers and eyes.
An unnerving presence could be felt emanating from the creature.

Madison didn't have a chance to completely read the list of stats before the Vigo screeched and sprinted forward.
[Darkness LV6]
[Strength +6.5]
[Remaining Time 4:59]
It pounced at Madison, pinning her to the ground and holding down her left arm with a few of its claws.
Terror filled Madison, but she knew she couldn't give up here. She couldn't move her left arm or most of her body. Most of her magic probably wouldn't work against a creature such as this, and she couldn't raise her stat's right now.
The Vigo opened its mouth, getting closer to Madison's neck. Saliva profusely dripped from its mouth as it got closer.
[Roar]
Madison used the [Roar] skill she received after fending off the horde. If this didn't work, then she would have to use some magic that would undoubtedly end up hurting her too.
As the roar of Madison's voice could be heard by the Vigo, it became stunned for a second, but didn't let go of Madison, she still took this opportunity to hit it in hopes that it would move. She began rapidly punching its face with her right hand, it would flinch and try to avoid the hits, but it didn't seem to have that much of an effect. After a few hits, one of Madison's skills finally activated.
[Critical Strike: Lv8]
[Damage Bonus: 34%]
The Vigo had been hit hard enough to lose its grasp and fall over for a moment, but it still looked completely unharmed. Madison used this moment to get up and quickly adjust her stats.

She then used...
[Fire]
Which made the Vigo take a step back, then she began running back the way she came as fast as she could down the road towards the town. She was much faster than before but was just barley staying out of reach.
After running as fast as she could for a little while, she noticed a nearby light and smoke in the sky. It had to belong to another campfire, but how did this person or people avoid being attacked? Since Madison had nowhere else to go, she might as well take her chances.
