Monday, the most dreaded day for most high school students. I, however, dreaded the coming of this day for a completely different reason.
"F**K ME DADDY!" Someone screamed from beyond my front door.
"Why is it that every weekday, the first thing I hear is this phrase?" I thought on the inside.
I opened the door to find Leo smiling at me, completely oblivious to how ridiculous he just sound. I ignored him and started heading towards school. Leo quickly followed from behind.
****************
Club activities starts during the second week of school. Therefore, as we arrived on campus, there were quite a few temporary stalls installed across the pedestrian pavement. As Leo and I walked onto the school grounds, there were already many students trying to hand out flyers to us. Leo, filled with curiousity, took the flyers.
"Please come join the swimming team."
"Come join the art club."
Similar shouts were echoing across the campus, making the whole school seem more like a farmer's market.
Leo took a look at every flyer that was given out to him. He asked, "Hunter, what club are you going to join this year?"
I pondered for a while. "I'm gonna join the basketball team again."
As Leo kept on taking flyers, his hands became completely full. He became slightly distressed by all the paper he had to carry while getting more flyers at the same time.
I sighed. I took most of the flyers he did not need and stuffed it in my backpack. "Stop taking flyers from now on." I cautioned.
"But the flyers are all free." Leo whined.
"You're just wasting paper." I rolled my eyes.
When we walked close to the entrance of the main school building, we saw Rebecca handing out flyers for a club.
"Hunter, Leo, you're here!" Rebecca waved at us to come over.
Behind Rebecca was a stall filled with giant, long wall scrolls. The wall scrolls all depict either two men kissing or staring at each other with an ambiguous atmoshpere. There were two women manning the stall, introducing their club to students.
Rebecca gave us a flyer when we arrived. The flyer had two bishounen depicted in the background. They were wearing a Victorian-style army uniform and hugging each other intimately. The flyer reads,
"BL/Yaoi Club. Fujoshis and fudanshis only. Taste true happiness with us! Mondays, 4:00pm to 5:00pm, Room 2192."
Leo's eyes immediately shined. "OMG! Did you finally manage to get faculty approval for the BL Club?"
"Yeah, just got permission on Saturday." Rebecca nodded. "Now we just need to find enough people to join to get more funding from the Student Council."
"I'll join, I'll join!" Leo exclaimed. He immediately ran inside the stall and typed in his name and e-mail address on the club's laptop. He then returned smiling.
"Why are you into all this sort of weird stuff?" I muttered.
"They are prime material for refrences." Leo replied smugly.
"For certain smex and seduction techniques, but I will never tell you that." Leo thought to himself.
Leo spent more time speaking to Rebecca while I applied for the basketball team. When I came back, Rebecca was holding a rather large C*non camera and taking pictures of Leo. Leo made many different poses. I just stood there waiting for him.
Later, Leo came over and dragged me towards the camera as well.
"What are you doing?" I asked, furrowing my brows. Leo was holding me by the waist and stared upwards at me with innocent eyes. I made a disgruntled expression.
It was then that a *chikchak* sound came from Rebecca's camera. Rebecca took a look at the screen of the camera, then gave Leo a thumbs up. Leo responded by also giving a thumbs up.
"I've been set up!" I thought. I angrily squeezed both of Leo's cheeks with my hands.
"Ow! Stop it!" Leo whimpered. Rebecca continued taking photos of us.
Leo retaliated by trying to pull my shirt up with his hands. I immediately released my hands from his cheeks to stop it, but it was too late. Rebecca had already taken the picture.
"OMG! This is so hawwwt!" Rebecca screamed. She immediately ran back and shared the photos with her fellow fujoshis. The girls cuddled together and screamed loudly as they scrolled through the pictures.
I rolled my eyes. Grabbing Leo's hand, I stormed into the school building with Leo in toll.
****************
Leo stayed silent for most of first period. He did not even look at me as he was staring at his phone. His eyes were wide open, his mouth curled into a smile. He was looking at the pictures of himself and I that were taken by Rebecca this morning. It seems that Rebecca had sent of the pictures to him after uploading the photos onto their BL Club F*ceb**k page.
During second period, I thought Leo wasn't going to pay attention to class again, but to my suprise, he seemed to be genuinely listening to the teacher. The subject was Civics, which was very boring to most of the students in the classroom, myself included. I silently stared at Leo. He was displaying a rare concentrated look that I haven't seen in a long time. His eyebrows tightened, his beautiful sky blue eyes glinted and his lips sometimes turns into a slight frown. He habitually bit on the tip of the pencil and stared at the teacher with utmost concentration.
It was at this time that my heart skipped a beat. I thought he looked unbearably charming right then and there.
Of course when the bell rang, Leo's complexion completely changed, as if what happened just now was just my optical illusion. He started pulling on my arm again as we headed to the cafeteria. I felt a slight tinge of disappointment in my heart.
*****************
As we headed towards the table where we normally seat, we found Rebecca playing around with his phone. James was nowhere to be seen. "Yo!" Rebecca greeted us.
Leo and I sat down and took out our lunchboxes.
"Hey did you guys see James on your way here?" Rebecca asked. "I've texted him a few times but he never replied to me."
I shook my head.
"I didn't see him either." Leo said. "He's probably just pre-occupied with something."
With James' disappearence, I was still unable to have lunch peacefully and quietly as Leo and Rebecca, those blabbermouths, kept on chatting non-stop. I simply focused on eating my lunch without speaking.
As we head to class, I saw someone far ahead who looked like James. He was standing in the middle beside two seniors who were much taller than him. From his body expressions, James (?) seemed very uncomfortable. As they were too far away from me, I was not able to catch them when they turned the corner. I reluctantly headed on to class.
******************
The third and fourth periods were quite bland. Leo just started chatting with Rebecca again through text messages, while I diligently took notes. After classes were finished, Leo headed off to BL Club, while I headed towards the basketball courts for basketball tryouts.
Most of the initial tryouts were strictly for the freshmen, last year's benchers and people who did not make it to the team last year. As our school's basketball team were quite famous, winning the national championship numerous times, there were quite a lot of people enlisting every year. However, since I was the shooting guard for the team last year, I was naturally exempted from the initial tryouts. Therefore, the coach had me do some training exercises with my teammates from last year at the corner.

[This section is in Leo's POV]
Meanwhile, Leo and the girls were having fun in the club room. Many of the girls were asking about his relationship with Hunter. Leo, who always liked to brag and exaggerate, simply gave an ambiguous answer: they were only childhood friends. The fujoshis, however, imagined a lot of different things from that single sentence, after all, childhood friends is a standard trope in romance novels (including BL). They started frantically typing on their laptops, making up hot and steamy fictional stories of both of them. Some of the girls even started drawing doujinshis.
After half an hour, Rebecca, who was the de facto leader of the BL club, asked, "Hey, don't you guys wanna go see the boys play basketball?"
The faces of the girls immediately brightened. "Yes, let's go! We need to gather more materials! Hehehe!" They started laughing in a creepy and perverted way. Leo also followed them since he wanted to see Hunter play.
The girls headed towards the basketball court, with Leo squeezed in the middle. The girls seemed to have no problem with a boy in their midst. When they arrived at the basketball court, they saw the sweaty men in jerseys practicing basketball.
Suddenly, someone walked over and pulled Leo out from the swarm of girls. Leo accidentally tripped and fell into his arms. The man subconsciously hugged him.
"What are you doing here?" The man asked softly.
The girls screamed when they saw two men hugging each other suggestively (?).
Leo looked up and took a good hard look at the man. His hazel eyes had a shining luster, his face seemed to glisten from the light reflecting off of the sweat drops on his face. His barely noticeable stubble exuded his masculine charm. It was Hunter.
In that second of eye contact, there seemed to be red roses in the background, like those in the shoujo manga. Leo's heart melted.
