From the dimly lit alley, the tall man standing behind a brightly lit street lamp made that man looks like someone who came from heaven descending into the darkness of the alley. Ma Mian's heart felt a little calm upon knowing that someone seems to be helping them.
Since it is a man, she heaves a sigh of relief, though she did not want to lower her guard as not every man knows how to fight.
Meanwhile, the thugs who heard this look at the approaching man but they are unable to make his face clear due to the light behind the man.
"Shit! A busy body thinks that he can become a hero to save the damsel in distress. Get him! Teach that guy a lesson!" shouted the leader of the group.
Two of his men turn around and walk towards the tall man while cracking their fists. The leader on the other hand looks back at Ma Mian and a smirk appears on his face.
"Do you think just because some random nobody appears, you will be saved? Hehe… I like feisty women the most… No matter how you fight back. Today you will become my subordinate or else…"
While the man said that, he could hear the sound of fist fighting happening behind him and this made him show a complacent look on his smug-looking face.
But before he could do anything, he suddenly heard the same cold voice from behind him.
"Is that all you got?"
When he heard this, his expression turned ugly as he quickly turns around and glares at the man. However, when he saw his two burly men unconscious on the ground, his expression turned serious. He now knew that this man is not a pushover.
However, unknown to him, what happened next made him stunned.
This is because the woman with those ugly-looking spectacles suddenly appears and hits him while running and shouting like crazy. He staggered but did not fall, however, he soon realized that the beauty beside him is already gone and is now standing behind that tall man which face they could not see clearly.
When Ma Mian grabs Yu Qi by her hand and was forced to be dragged towards the mysterious young man, her body just moved on its own.
She soon appears beside the tall young man and noticed his handsome appearance and the silver spectacles.
As if thunderstruck she seems to forget the danger as she lovingly looks at the hero in her heart as he faces three burly men who are glaring towards him. Deep in her heart, she is grateful that her hero came to her rescue and for her, he is like her knight in shining armor.
Ma Mian saw the expression of Yu Qi and could not help but shake her head helplessly. Meanwhile, she took a glance at the young man who helped them and could not help but be stunned.
This is because she clearly recognizes those silver spectacles. He is that rude executive from the Jiaolong Corporation who just left and let her fall to the ground after almost saving her.
From that alone, in her mind, she already disapproved of this guy.
However, since he is helping them, she would try to raise his status in her mind and brand him as a good guy.
Unknown to Ma Mian, Yu Bai who has already recognized her is feeling a very complex emotion. He did not expect that his random encounter in this area would be his wife. But he could not let her recognize him no matter what, so he did not dare turn to look at her.
He was just in this place because one of his friends invited him for a drink. Though he did not drink alcohol because for him, that is the cause of all trouble, he just goes with his friends. And while walking to his car, he noticed this scene and decided to be a good guy for a change.
How would he know that his random encounter is this? Well, at least he could save his wife and her friend.
The three goons suddenly began rushing towards him, but Yu Bai is someone who has experienced in the world of business both on the surface and those in the shadows. He has not raised the company into such height without him dirtying his own hands.
So these thugs for him are just small fries. He easily takes them down as they are all brawned and no brains, nor fighting form.
After that, he walks to the two women.
"Are you both, okay?" he asked while dialing his phone.
With a nod, the still star-struck Yu Qi and the shy-looking Ma Mian just stood beside him. Ma Mian would not dare to look at the man's eyes as she feels a bit weird by the way he looks at her.
When he asked if they are okay, she saw a resemblance of worry in his eyes towards her. And this made her feel uncomfortable. Hence, she dare not look into his eyes; she hated those kinds of gazes except for her husband, Yu Bai.
"Umn… Mister… Thank you for helping us. By the way, I'm Yu Qi… and you are?" Yu Qi gathered her courage as she takes a step towards the handsome man.
"I'm… Yu…" Yu Bai stops as he took a glance at Ma Mian.
He almost blurted his name and luckily he stopped.
"Mr. Yu… Nice meeting you…"
"Ah… no, sorry about that. Your beauty mesmerizes me for a bit… I'm Yun Hai…" Yu Bai recovered while showing a charming smile.
When Yu Qi saw this, he almost stopped breathing. It's like her soul was taken from her and she wanted to start fainting on the spot. The guy was truly handsome and she felt that she might have fallen in love.
Meanwhile, Ma Mian rolled her eyes and sneered at the man. That weird executive disregarded her as Ma Liling which is far more beautiful than Yu Qi, so deep in her mind; she is thinking that this man is harboring some malicious intent towards her friend.
Before Yu Qi could react, Ma Mian suddenly pulled her hand.
"Let's go home, Yu Qi don't talk to strangers…" Ma Mian said as if trying to protect Yu Qi from a big bad wolf.
Yu Bai who heard this and saw her reaction was immediately dumbfounded. He did not know what just happened and just looks at the two women leaving. The other is dragging while the other one has a look of hesitation in her eyes.
He just shook his head and smile wryly. He called for the authorities to let them handle the mess and decided to go home and chase after his wife… in secret, of course.
