Chapitre 1: 1. new beginnings
The music was playing softly making the ride more pleasant. But the girls voices were more loud than the music.
- Girls, keep it down!
- But, mommy, Sophie isn't giving me my toy!
- Sophie, give Lizzie her toy back!

Elizabeth was woken up from her deep sleep by something pulling her hand violently, like something is on fire.
- What...
- Hey, wake up, you're going to be late to the interview!
- Ughh...it's too early! Let me sleep.
- It's 8 am and in an hour and a half you have to be there. You don't wanna be late!
When she heard that she jumped from her bed like something poked her. She couldn't afford to be late, especially on her first important day since she go this job.
- What? Emma, why didn't you wake me up earlier? You know i can't afford being late!
- Oh, so it's my fault that you sleep a lot!
Emma was her friend since childhood and Elizabeth lived in her apartment since she came to New York. This was how their relationship worked and people wondered how the girls weren't sisters, because they were alike, but at the same time so different.
Elizabeth came to New York from the UK, two years ago when she got the job as a journalist at Hollywood Reporter. Since she got the job she only wrote news, but never did an interview. Today was her first one and she couldn't do something to compromise it.
- How do I look? Hope it isn't too formal.
She was wearing a white shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and a black blazer all paired up with a pair of black stilettos.
- Give up the blazer and unbutton two of the buttons.
- I will look like a hooker. I don't want to be too formal, nor too dirty.
- You will not look like a hooker, but you want the guy to have something to look at. Maybe you will get a date.
- I hate you!
- Love you too!
Emma was such a pain in the ass sometimes, but she was always there for Elizabeth in her hardest moments. They studied at the same school and high school, so they were there for each other in all of the most important moments. When Emma moved to New York, Elizabeth felt like she lost her support even they talked everyday.

The hot air softly hit her face making her platinum blonde hair flow in the wind. She was the type of girl to smile at strangers on the street and wave at every person she knew. She was always been like this even if the people around her weren't.
When she arrived at the news board, her colleague, Ashley was waiting for her at the main entrance.
- Hi, Elizabeth!
- Hi, Ashley! Is he here? Please, tell me I'm not late!
- He hasn't arrived yet! You're lucky!
The he they were talking about was Thomas Gibson. Elizabeth was set to interview him because Criminal Minds was going to be revived and this was the best occasion for them to get some information about the show and his personal life.
Elizabeth was nervous, because the guy that she was set to interview was famous and she couldn't screw up. Mostly, because this was her first time and the boss would be mad at her, and if that happened she could be downgraded.
Ashley led her to the room where she was going to interview Thomas and set her equipment. She was almost shaking because of the emotions, but she tried her best to not let the people around her see that.
- He's here, Elizabeth!
- Wish me luck, Ashley!
Thomas entered the room, wearing a black suit. He looked so good, but Elizabeth thought that she needs to be concentrated and not let this guy get into her mind.
- Hello, Mr. Gibson! My name is Elizabeth Winchester and I'll interview you today.
- Hello, Elizabeth! Please, call me Thomas. It makes me feel old if you call me "Mr." .
- Sorry! And before starting, please excuse me if I make some mistakes, but this is my first time interviewing, and I'm really nervous.
He smiled at her reassuringly and her heart melted. "No, Elizabeth focus. Don't let him get into your mind, this is not the time!", she thought.
The interview went well, Thomas making her feel very comfortable. She could say they flirted a bit, but she couldn't think about that. No man like him could see her as a potential girlfriend. She was just a plain girl, nothing besides her green eyes making her stand up in a crowd full of girls her age. She was 28 years old and she didn't had many boyfriends. Her only one, was the one from high school and she dated him for five years. Since they broke up she didn't had any serious relationships, just one night stands. Emma even made her Tinder account, telling her that in this manner she will end up with a lot of cats, and no boyfriend or child. Elizabeth didn't think about having a boyfriend, because she didn't want to have any strings attached. Her job made her busy, and in some occasions she worked all night. She was dedicated to her job and wanted to work as much as she could, because that gave her satisfaction.
After the interview she went to the make up room, so she could wipe her make up. Her thoughts were all over the place, going from the fact that she was pleased with how the interview went to how good the guy that stood in front of her looked. He was the thing that started to distract her from what she was doing and she stood frozen with the make up wipe in her hand. A knock on the door was the thing that pulled her out of her trance.
- Come in! Ashley, what happened?
- Liz, somebody left this napkin on the coffee table at the front desk. It has your name written on it.
- What does it say?
- It it just a phone number. Nothing more.
- Strange! Anyways, thank you for bringing it to me.
- Are you going to stay longer here?
- No, I'm wiping my make up and then I'm going to leave.
- Ok. Bye, have a nice day!
- Thank you again for bringing me the napkin. Have a nice day, too!
It was strange that somebody left a napkin with a phone number on it! Who could it be?
