Chapitre 90: Dark skies

The second pigeon arrived the next day. By that time Victor had alerted the Board of Directors about the message they got. As much as Eve was glad to hear that Celina and Xia were alright, she was just as alarmed as everyone else to hear about Chainsaws Base's destruction.

That alarm had nothing on the surge of emotion Eve experienced after reading a (very compressed) description of the encounter with the robot-like creature. Disbelief, anxiety, fear… There was only so much Eve could do to cling to her composure, and it was a good thing that Victor was there to hold her as Eve struggled to stand on her feet.

"It shouldn't be possible. Not with the speed the nanite cores developed in the wild. Not without some mad luck, some weird fluke…" Eve shook her head furiously. "Even the seventh level cores don't allow their host to replace their flesh with nanites completely!"
