"It is very nice to finally meet you, Mr Flamel. I am honoured."
Sirius was sitting in the living room with the Flamels and Charlus.
"You think too much of me Mr Black. I wanted to speak with you last year but I missed you. Quite unfortunate."
Sirius looked at Charlus who looked away.
"Oh really? Quite unfortunate. What was it that you wanted to speak about?"
"Your ward Mr Black. As you know, he is special. In more ways than one."
Sirius narrowed his eyes.
"And which one are you talking about Mr Flamel?"
"To start with, his blood. His existence is quite fascinating, and I am sure you are aware of it."
"I am."
Charlus had suspicions that his godfather knew about his Phoenix blood and confirmed it with Sirius' statement.
"What you must know that he is like a werewolf. Half beast, and half-human. In a good way of course. The wolf tries to dominate the human. The Phoenix couldn't care less. It will co-exist with the human as it chooses mutual existence rather than mutual destruction."
"So does that means that one day Charlus will become a Phoenix?"
"No Mr Black. It means that Charlus will be able to harness his Phoenix blood and control the transformation himself. Like an animagus transformation. However, this will be more natural to him and he will not need to go through all the troubles others need to. However, this means that he will not have an animagus form."
"Why are you telling me this Mr Flamel? I understand that he has studied Alchemy under you and is considered your student. But I don't believe anyone would research this much for a simple student."
Nicholas Flamel smiled.
"Well, over the past 2 years, I have.... grown fond of Charlus. I have decided that he can inherit my knowledge. It would be a waste if all my knowledge went to waste. I have kept my eye on this boy ever since Dumbledore introduced me to him."
"Dumbledore? He introduced Charlus to you?"
"Not personally. I was the person who helped Charlus with his final step a few years ago. You were there too if I recall."
"You were the person who wanted to remain mysterious? Why? If you wanted to remain mysterious, why are you telling me that it was you now?"
"There were reasons Mr Black. There will be a time for you to know, but that time has not come yet."
Sirius was confused.
"What else do you need to say?"
"It is regarding his Phoenix form, Mr Black. I wish to start his training in that form next year, and I would require your permission to do it."
Charlus interjected.
"Padfoot, you always said that you become an animagus when you were in your fifth year. This is just 2 years before you. Plus, I have the help of a qualified adult."
"Qualified? You are an animagus Mr Flamel?"
Nicholas Flamel laughed.
"I might be. You won't find anything in the records though. Not everyone registers in them. In fact, I know over five people who decided not to."
Sirius laughed sheepishly.
"Of course. I give my permission. It will definitely help him if he became an animagus, especially one with a flying form that is controllable."
As an Auror, Sirius knew the benefits of having a solid escape plan. If Charlus had an escape plan in the form of his Phoenix form, it would be very beneficial to him.
"Thank you, Padfoot."
Charlus thanked Sirius.
"I'm very sorry to sound suspicious Mr Flamel, but did you do something to Charlus? The Charlus I know would jump with joy at this news."
"I'm sure you are aware of the art 'Occlumency', Mr Black."
Sirius quietened down.
"He was able master it to such an extent?"
Sirius was surprised. Growing in a dark family as its heir, Sirius was taught Occlumency at a very young age. Since it was an art that didn't require magic, he was taught before he went to Hogwarts. He knew from experience that one had to spend hours every day for 2 years to get to the point where one was able to control their emotions. Seeing Charlus at this stage surprised Sirius greatly.
"I believe you now when you say that you want to groom Charlus to be your disciple Mr Flamel."
"Thank you, Mr Black. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me."
"I have none, Mr Flamel."
"Then you can get back to your Manor. I am sure that Charlus' younger brother is waiting eagerly for the both of you."
"I am sure he is. I will take my leave, Mr Flamel. Thank you for your hospitality."
Sirius stood up and took Charlus' hand. Then, he apparated out of the Flamel Manor to the Black Manor.
