Nash and Dos's jaws dropped when they saw Luke punching the dragon on the face with his right fist. Even Spencer and Jay, who were watching them from below, were taken aback. But just as they thought that was the end of it, Luke landed another punch on the dragon's left cheek and an uppercut to the jaw. For the final blow, Luke grabbed the dragon's head and delivered a knee strike, causing the dragon to lose consciousness and nosebleed. It was all happening so fast that the dragon had no time to react.
"W-woah..."
• I- wow....
Dos and Liam were completely speechless. They had no idea Luke could do such powerful combos; they hadn't seen him do it even once, so seeing him do it for the first time is surprising. Dos whistled and rubbed his face with the palm of his hand. Unbelievable, he hadn't seen Luke do any training to learn such skills, but Luke was able to execute the moves correctly.
And...
Luke might be the only insane person other than Dos who is brave enough to punch a dragon like that.
"Who... Who in the world was that? That cannot possibly be Luke."
"Oh my lord... Did you see those magnificent moves?! It's absolutely stunning!"
Jay kept looking at Luke, who was in the air, while excitedly tugging on Spencer's sleeves. Jay had the feeling that he had witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime event, and he was correct; even Spencer was taken aback. He can't believe the frail Luke he's known since the beginning could do such a thing. His moves appear so professional that Spencer might think a professional martial artist possessed Luke for a brief moment.
• That... That was so awesome dad! Since when did you learn how to do that?!
"Uh... I used to have a job that required me to do simple moves like that. It's nothing special."
• What do you mean it isn't special?! It looks so cool and I could feel the impact from here! That was so strong dad! So cool!
"Thank you? I guess?"
Luke just scratched his head, perplexed by the high praise for doing the bare minimum. What Luke just did was so basic for him that he can't see what's so special in what he did.
Luke simply chose to ignore Nash's compliments and look at the dragon, who is quickly returning to his senses. The dragon clutched his bleeding nose and looked at Luke with rage in his eyes. Luke gulped, knowing that this was the point at which everything would go downhill.
"You dare toy with me... You weak and inferior humans?!"
Gray mana then started to come out from the dragon like crazy causing the soldiers of the valley to feel suffocated. The mana that is circulating in the air is so powerful that everyone in the valley can sense it. Dos took a look at it and clicked his tongue.
"The old man is now mad, I told you kid we will die."
• You-! How can you say such things with a straight face?!
"It's not my fault that I share a body with a certain stubborn kid who wants to fight a dragon head-on."
"Wait a minute, what?!?"
"What is going on?!"
"We-! We're afloat?!"
"What? How?!"
"Such powerful magic!"
The soldiers on the ground, including the werewolves and bones, began to float into the air. Even the rocks and pebbles float as if gravity has abandoned the valley. The retreated mages and soldiers were also not spared and began to float as well. Every single soldier inside the valley was being lifted up from the ground, and the one responsible for that is one angry dragon...
"Ah shit, we fucked up kid."
Dos just scratched his brow and looked up at the soldiers who were still floating up. He could also see Spencer and Jay panicking because they were floating and had no control over the situation. Dos then turned his gaze to Luke, who is looking at the situation with an oddly calm expression. Dos's eyes narrowed.
'Does this kid have a plan, or has he run out of ideas and is just staring at what's going on?'
Dos had no idea what was going on inside Luke's head. All he knew was that if they didn't come up with a plan soon, they'd all die. Dos then looked at the dragon who is still continuing to release mana while having tons of layers of thick barriers around him. Dos clicked his tongue; there was no way he could break through such a thick shield in such a short period of time. He's really powerless this time.
Dos simply sighed in defeat, then looked down and saw the soldiers in the air almost at the same level as them. He then frowned, knowing that this isn't just something a dragon could do. An angry dragon can do far much worse-
SHIIIIIING!
And there it is...
Dos sighed and looked down at the plethora of sharp spikes protruding from the ground. The spikes resembled razor-sharp teeth ready to devour them all. When the soldiers noticed this, they began to scream nervously, while the Regle soldiers and werewolves looked at the dragon as if he were insane.
"Hey! Aren't we on the same side?! Why are we also up here!?"
"You can't do this to us!"
"We are allies!"
The dragon looked emotionlessly at the Regle soldiers and werewolves who were staring at him. The dragon just spoke coldly.
"Allies? You think weak and puny beings like you deserve to be my allies?"
Luke's eyes immediately shifted towards the dragon and his eyes immediately went cold. He is witnessing another betrayal between allies. Luke frowned as he nearly remembered a memory he desperately wanted to forget. Luke then clenched his teeth.
'Traitor...'
Luke's eyes sharpened and his glare became even colder enough for the dragon to notice it. The dragon then fixed his gaze on Luke's murderous gaze, as if he were looking down on him.
"All of you will die. I don't care if you have a legendary beast with you. I will kill you all easily."
Nash's growls could be heard beside Luke. Luke remained silent for a few moments before whispering to Nash in a low enough voice that the dragon couldn't hear them.
"Nash... Support me."
• You don't need to tell me that dad.
Luke nodded and turned to face Dos, who was hiding behind the dragon. Luke then nodded at Dos, and thankfully, Dos understood what he meant and nodded back while creepily smiling. Luke ignored Dos's creepy smile and conversed with the dragon.
"What is it that is taking you so long?"
"Huh?"
The dragon's eyes narrowed as he looked at Luke, who has a calm expression on his face. This calm demeanor enraged the dragon even more.
"Are you not scared? Thousands of people's lives are in my hands. With a single flick of my finger, they'll all perish!"
"You must not have known me well; I only care about myself. Drop them if you want to."
Confusion was clearly written on the dragon's face as he stared at Luke as if he were insane. He tried to look into Luke's face to see if he was lying, but he couldn't see any remorse in it. The dragon is shocked and speechless.
"What? You have no concern for your people?! You are the commander, and if they die, you will be held accountable!"
Luke remained silent, staring at the dragon with a blank expression. Veins began to appear in the dragon's head, and he is furious right now.
"All right, then! As you wish!"
The soldiers began to fall as the dragon flicked his fingers. Countless screams and shouts could be heard as the soldiers looked down at the sharp death that awaited them below. They could only scream and cry helplessly at this point. Some soldiers began to pray, while others began to call out the names of their loved ones. They all just closed their eyes and cried nonstop when they were close to the spikes of death. Even the werewolves cannot do anything anymore.
SHAAAAAAA!!!
"Ugh!"
"Oof!"
"AAAHH! Mother!"
"My baby!"
"God!"
The soldiers clenched their eyes and teeth while waiting to be impaled. They were surprised, however, because they did not feel anything sharp at all. All they could feel beneath them was a pile of rustling soft leaves.
Wait... Leaves?
When the soldiers slowly opened their eyes, they saw green all around them. They could see thick tree branches and a thick pile of leaves all around them. They then investigated where this came from and discovered that the branches were from trees on the mountains on both sides of the valley. The trees appear to have moved specifically to catch their fall.
"Are you all okay?"
When the soldiers looked up, they saw Luke flying above them. Luke's arms were spread and wrapped in tree branches. The soldiers' and werewolves' eyes trembled. They now realized how the trees miraculously moved to catch their fall; it was done by none other than their commander, who saved them once more.
"He... Can he move trees?"
"Just what is he?"
The soldiers' eyes trembled as they looked up at their savior. Even the werewolves were taken aback by Luke's actions; despite the fact that they were clearly enemies, Luke took the time to save them. What was he thinking when he did that?
"Cough!"
Luke felt a stinging pain in every part of his body. As soon as he knows it, blood came out from his mouth, nose, ears, and eyes. The blood oozing from his eyes caused his eyes to sting in pain. Luke's ears were ringing nonstop as well. As if that wasn't enough, blood is still pouring out of Luke's mouth and nose.
With shock and concern, the soldiers and werewolves all looked up to Luke's horrific condition. Luke, on the other hand, doesn't have time for that because he feels like he could pass out or disappear at any moment.
• Dad...?
Luke could feel Nash's paws on his face. Luke didn't say anything for a few moments before releasing his hands from the branches that holds him and gently grabbing Nash's body and patting it. He then heard Nash's somber voice.
"You... You're not going to leave again, are you? You promised me and Snow..."
"I—cough! I'm not going to..."
Luke simply patted Nash's small head and looked up toward the dragon. He noticed the dragon staring in disbelief at his bloodied state.
"Watch where you're looking, old man."
Shinng!
"Ugh!"
The dragon's eyes shook as he looked down at his stomach, where he saw a blade with a dark red aura piercing through. The dragon clenched his teeth; he let down his guard again.
The dragon turned around and was about to grab Dos when Dos just dodged and grinned at him.
"Old man, your condition appears to be quite bad right now. I'm sure letting all of your mana out like that drains you a lot, especially with that nasty injury you have right now."
The dragon didn't respond and instead glared at Dos, who was smirking at him. The dragon then frowned. He appears to be irritated. He seemed to be bothered by something.
"My time is up. But I will come back. Once I come back you are all dead for real."
The dragon clenched his teeth and cast a teleportation spell. Dos just grinned at him from ear to ear, as if he was looking down at him.
"Aww, running away with your tail between your legs? "
The dragon glared angrily at Dos's mockery.
"I've been summoned to return. Consider yourself fortunate."
Dos's face became serious as he gazed at the dragon.
"By whom are you being summoned?"
"And why should I bother telling you?"
The dragon finally vanished after those words, and all was quiet. The soldiers all sighed in relief, and some were still so shaken by what had happened that they remained silent.
"Brother! Are you alright?!"
When the soldiers looked up, they noticed Liam worriedly supporting their unconscious commander, whose face was covered in blood. The soldiers then snapped out of it and started to worry.
"Call the healers!"
"Tie up the enemies!"
"Someone get a healer immediately!"
"Move! Move! Move!"
The Regle soldiers and werewolves who had transformed back into humans just stood there silently allowing the Reece soldiers to restrain them while staring at Luke, who was an unconscious bloodied mess. They simply let the Reece soldiers drag them away, but their gazes seem to be fixed on Luke. They all stared at him quietly, unsure how they felt about him. He is an enemy, their primary target, and yet he is also their savior. He saved them from the fall of death. They're at a loss as to how to feel.
In the end, they just stare at Luke who is carefully being carried by Liam back to the Wervey territory for treatment.
As a result, the final battle was over.
Or did it?
