Chapitre 40: Everyone is happy

Months passed at the speed of light.

Letters began to fill the whole house.

Happiness was growing in this world.

I even believed that peace and eternal happiness at last - that is ingrained in the lives of every person.

Around me now was a financier who always dreamed of playing the violin, and who now made his dream come true with the help of the Luca's Fund.

There were people around me who worked, lived, but who have now come to life. These were the people who opened their cafes, shops, who finally began to travel and go abroad.

No one held them and could not hold them.

But with such freedom, there was certainly a shortage of certain workers everywhere. For example, the factories stopped working. Or some doctors quit their jobs.

But over time, these problems were solved in some way.

Yet everyone had a dream and this dream could still move the mechanism of cities.

As I noticed, there are more people in universities. And they were people of all ages. People who have always dreamed of getting an education but who never had the opportunity.

Now, they were students and studied what they liked.

Everyone was happy, but I still remembered that baby's look.

He was everywhere. Reminding me that this is just the beginning.

With all this, I didn't even notice the arrival of summer.

When I woke up late in the morning, I opened my eyes and saw Leon sitting on a chair reading a book.

For a while I didn't move for fear of spoiling the moment when he was focused on the book.

Well, I was focused on trying to solve his mystery once again.

I didn't even know who he was, and I didn't know anything about his past.

But I felt at peace beside him.

Noticing that I was awake, he closed the book and said, "Today, I want you to go with me somewhere."

A warm wind and a thin curtain slightly touched his hair, which clearly became shorter.

He looked at me as if he had seen me for the first time. His gaze hasn't changed since the day I saw him.

"Where are we going to go?"

He smiled and replied, "Today is a beautiful day."

"Did you finish working on the book?"

"I've already finished writing a second book."

"Will you publish this?"

"No. But I'll let you read these books."

Wearing my green shirt and jeans, I followed him.

As I noticed, he packed all our breakfast in a basket and had already planned a picnic.

"So, we have a picnic today?"

"Yes. I've always wanted a picnic. Maybe I need to start living the way I want to," he suddenly said and surprised me.

When we left the house, I looked up and noticed that the sky today was perfectly clean. And this purity promised peace and happiness.

Around, the birds sang and flew, drawing patterns in the air, which were clear only to them.

Green leaves, like a lampshade, passed through the sunlight, and thus leaving shadows on the ground.

I liked the smell of flowers, grass, I liked everything in this summer. And even the fact that after a few minutes of walking, I felt a sweat on my forehead.

Feeling warm, I suddenly remembered that city, that blizzard and the girl who was composing music. Fortunata, I wonder where she is and how she's doing.

Listening to the birds singing, I remembered her and I wanted to see her. At least from afar.

"What are you thinking?" Leon suddenly asked, pointing to the road that led into the woods.

"I'm thinking about that girl named Fortunata, do you remember her?"

"Yes. We even had time to talk. She's very smart."

"You know, during that time, I've met so many people. Before, I was always alone. But now that's changed. So sometimes I just think of all the people who were on my way. I'm thinking about Ethel, about Adelard, where they are now, what they're doing. I met all of them, and thus I learned more about myself. Perhaps people help you understand yourself and look at yourself from the outside."

"I think the next book I'll write about you," Leon said, stopping in front of a tall tree.

"Do you want to write my biography?"

"Do you mind?"

"No. I just don't think you're going to have much to write about."

"I don't think so," he said, and sat on the grass.

There were only trees in front and around. And somewhere, I heard the sound of the river.

Leon, who began to lay out our breakfast on the ground, said, "You're probably interested in knowing about my life."

I looked at him and was surprised again.

"Of course, I'm interested."

He smiled.

"My life wasn't that interesting. Believe me, I have nothing to tell you. But one thing you need to know, I can disappear."

No, he wasn't going to reveal one of his secrets to me. On the contrary, he created another one.

And I said, "What? What are you talking about?"

Now I was scared. Very scared.

He suddenly laughed so loudly that passing people looked at us.

'Don't make such a scared face. Don't worry."

"What do you mean? Anyway, could you be less mysterious. Sometimes, you scare me," I said, leaning against a tree.

He looked at me intently and suddenly became serious.

How much I didn't know about him, but the truth was, I liked that secret.

The wind, walking on each of his golden hairs, brought to us a gentle rustle of leaves.

With his eyes down, he said, "If I disappear from your life, you should not waste your time looking for me. Skye, you're an island man, you've never needed anyone. You're on your own. Just like the Moon in the sky."

"But the Moon cannot be without the Earth."

He was silent.

But I couldn't keep quiet, I was curious and scared.

"You have no idea how tired I am. But please don't make it any harder. Are you going to go somewhere?"

"Professor Skyemoone, you and I met at the right time. So, don't worry. And besides, my presence isn't that important in your life. You've always been on your own. And I don't want to change that."

I didn't know what else to say. For a moment, it seemed to me that between us was something ordinary.

There was a chasm.

"Soon, things will change again," he suddenly said, and that was the end of this strange conversation.

I was going to ask him what was going on. But I didn't find the right questions.

And instead, I just started eating a spinach and cheese sandwich.

When the sun began to shine directly at us, I lay down on the ground and closed my eyes.

Feeling that Leon had done the same, I said, "Tell me, are we friends?"

I heard him laughing.

I knew that now he covered his face with his hand, and now opening his mouth a little sighed.

And then the answer came, "Are we not like the Moon and the Earth?"

"So, what does that mean?"

He said, "To speak, to know, you have to be friends or something else. Skye, I thought we were creating something new."

"And what is it?"

"Something that's out of friendship, beyond any respect."

And one more mystery.

But the truth is, here, I finally understood it.

Usually, there is friendship, feelings, respect and understanding between people. And I always knew that there weren't such things between us. I could feel it. But I just couldn't define it.

But maybe I knew what it was now. Leon, was like the Moon in the sky.

And there was nothing I could do about it. He just was, and I just looked at him.

Call it whatever you want, love, friendship, but I knew it was what was always supposed to be.

Just like the Moon in the sky.
