Chapitre 33: Madame Gu's Request

The words had just been spoken when laughter arose in the yard.
Gu Xiuying and Gu Caiqin were chortling as if they just heard the most ridiculous joke ever.
That confused Chaoyan momentarily. She didn't know what was so funny!?!
Before Madame Gu could scold Gu Caiqin and Gu Xiuying, Gu Xiuying spoke up. "Sister, you have been divorced and everyone knows that the Prince doesn't like you. Why are you still hung up on him?"
Madame Gu turned towards Gu Chaoyan and gave her a searching look.
She was trying to figure out Gu Chaoyan's expression. She knew how much Gu Chaoyan used to like the Prince earlier.
If Gu Chaoyan put forward this request, then the situation would become rather annoying. The Prince did not like her appearance, which was publicly known to everyone.
But, for the sake of Ruxue's face, she could lower herself and ask the Prince to spare the position of a concubine for Gu Chaoyan.
Madame Gu started to calculate inwardly after she found a solution to this matter.
"Mother." Gu Zhenkang spoke up, fearing that Gu Chaoyan would really request to marry the Prince.
Madame Gu gave him a look of assurance.
Then she said seriously, "How dare you raise a condition when you are supposed to treat your sister unselfishly. You are not acting like the eldest daughter of the family. No wonder your father wants to punish you. You should learn from your mistake and not hate him for that."
"Nevertheless, if you are able to cure your second sister's face, I would grant your request. But you have to promise me one thing in return for letting you escape the punishment."
Madame Gu moved her hand over the jade hanging on her waist. What she wanted most was Gu Chaoyan's position as the eldest daughter of the house because Ruxue was going to marry a Prince and she definitely deserved the best.
As for Gu Chaoyan… it would be nothing short of a miracle for her to get back the marriage that had been snatched away from her. If Gu Chaoyan was smart and willing to take some steps backwards, she would be willing to fulfill her wish. If she was stupid, then she could simply be discarded later on.
Gu Chaoyan felt the fierce look from Madame Gu. However, it did not frighten her.
"Alright, I agree." Gu Chaoyan accepted the condition without hesitation.
That startled Madame Gu a little bit but she did not dwell on it.
She was in control of the Gu Family, and this ugly girl could not do much.
"Then, go to Begonia Yard immediately!" Since Gu Ruxue liked begonia flowers so much, her yard was named accordingly.
Gu Chaoyan bowed and left.
But Gu Zhenkang was not assured. Seeing Gu Chaoyan leave, he followed behind.
He could not be assured when this devious daughter went to the yard alone. She was ugly, had a poor maternal background and also lacked morals.
He needed to guarantee Ruxue's safety!
