Chapitre 47: 47. Rix

———four years ago———-

For six years I've been held captive, six years ive managed to keep the silver moon pack secret safe. I may have been young when father told it to me but I knew how important it was. I don't care how many times Driak tortured me or entered my mind trying to find the answer. He will never break my will. That was the nature of my power, it could not be broken. I could not be forced to do anything I didn't want to do. He can try all he likes but it won't matter I'll never tell him what he wants.

"Rix?"

I turned to face Silan, she was a siren that brought my food and changed the sheets on my bed. Well if you could call it a bed considering it was more like the bunks you see in prison cells that fold up and down by chains on the wall. The room itself was was pretty big for a prison complete with bathroom and shower. like that made it any less of a cell room.

Silan often snuck down to see me, she would tell me all that she could of Raine. My twin sister that I didn't even know I had til I was taken by Driak. I had never spoken to her or even set eyes on her. Silan and Driak were the only two that I ever came into contact with. Even Silan had never met my sister she was just as much a prisoner here as I was, but she heard things. She looked after all of us in the cells bringing us meals and doing laundry. Whenever someone new came she would ask them questions about Raine for my sake since it was Raine who was the one that captured them for Driak. Then she would rely every horrible detail back to me.

I cried most times when she told me of the things Driak was forcing Raine to do. I only shed tears for her, for the sister I wanted so badly to meet. She had became my world. Sure I was in a bad situation, a horrible one but Raine... she had been suffering all her life. She had no idea what she had inside her. No idea that our greatest hope lay within her soul. She was the reason I would never give up. It was for her I fought so hard.

"Rix are you alright?"

I was crying again Silan had just told me that Raine had fought once more with Vericus. My mate the one regret I had. I had given up hope long ago of ever seeing him again. I loved him with all my heart and wanted so badly to be by his side but as much as I wanted to be with him Raine needed me more.

"I'm fine thank you Silan I appreciate everything you do for me."

Her sad smile almost had me bawling again but I held back. Just as she was about to hug me the metal door swung open.

"Sneaking around again I see you've done it this time siren!"

Silan trembled stumbling back as Someone id never seen before stepped into the room. The look in his eyes scared the hell out of me quickly I rushed to shield her from him.

"No stop it wasn't her fault she was just-"

The male back handed me the pain shot across my cheek.

"Stay out of it bitch Driak should have given up on your arse years ago."

He grabbed Silan by the hair and started dragging her away. I can't let him do this, whoever he was I knew if he took her she'd be punished. She had done so much for me I couldn't let him take her. Something snapped inside me, even though I promised I'd be here for Raine. Promised I'd find a way to save her I couldn't let this male hurt Silan. Before I could stop myself I shifted leaping forward I tore the mans throat out. Stunned I stared down at him surprised more then anything since Driak kept me drugged on wolfsbane I didn't even know I could shift. I must have somehow grown an immunity to it.

What do I do now? My eyes took in the door. It was wide open, we could escape. This was our chance, the first chance in six years. But if I leave what would happen to Raine. I shook my head no I couldn't think about that. Besides if I escape I can get help. Vericus can help me save her. Turning I grabbed Silan by the hem of her dress and pulled then pointed my snout towards the door.

"You want us to escape? Rix that's crazy. We'll never make it out."

I growled low and pulled her hem again. I was leaving and I was taking her with me. Slowly she started to give in. Once she got to the door i nudge her which seemed to give her courage. She bent down to my level.

"There's a trash Shute on the other side of the building. It's always guarded but if we can take him out we can escape through there. you won't fit as a wolf so you'll have to shift back when we get there."

There's no doubt about it she had thought about escaping many times. I just hadn't realised she would already have a way out. I nodded letting her lead the way. I followed her trying hard to not make a sound but my wolf form was hurting. The wolfsbane was fighting against me trying to force me back. When we rounded the last corner a male shifter in human form stood guard just as Silan said. I rushed at him catching him off guard knocking him to the ground but just as I was about to sink my teeth in my wolf form failed and I shifted back. His hands wrapped around my throat Silan grabbing a fire extinguisher hitting him on the head knocking him out. I coughed as the air came rushing back.

"Thanks."

I rushed to pull his pants off and Silan helped with his shirt. Quickly slipping them on I opened the trash Shute. It would be a tight fit but not impossible. I grabbed Silans hand.

"You go first I may be able to shift once more if any one comes."

She nodded climbing inside.

"Be careful."

I smiled dipping my head as she disappeared down the Shute. I waited a few seconds for her to get to the bottom before I to climbed in. I was about to let go of the side when a hand grabbed my wrists.

"Where do you think your going?"

I partially shifted my free hand and scratched at whoever was holding me. He snatched his hand back dropping me down the Shute. I held in my scream as I free fell down the metal tube. When I hit the bottom the wind was knocked out of me again as I gasped for air surrounded by trash bags. The smell only making it worse.

I felt Silans hands pull me up and over the side of the dumpster. Once our legs hit solid ground we ran. The building we were in was surrounded by trees and seemed to be abandoned in the middle of no where. I couldn't believe it we were out, after six years of that cell we were free. The sound of shouting could be heard behind us but by the time they got outside we were long gone.

We ran all night sometimes having to hide when pursuers got too close. I couldn't believe how lucky we were to have survived this long. Our only saving grace must have been that neither Driak or Raine were at the prison when we escaped. If they had been I'm sure we would've had no hope.

By the second day of our escape we were exhausted. It seemed like the trees would never end. I hadn't been able to shift since the prison so we had to rely on eating bugs to survive. However without water we were growing weaker. Silan was barely alive as I half carried her along.

It was at our weakest point that I felt her. Our blood connected us there was no mistaking who was chasing us. I could feel her intent to kill and it was aimed at me. I knew in my current state I'd never be able to stop her before she killed me. The only thing I could do was save Silan. Quickly I hid Silan in the roots of a huge tree covered with shrubs.

"Rix?"

She grabbed my hand when I made to leave.

"Stay here when the coast is clear keep going. You must survive."

Tears came to her eyes as I gently forced her to let go. Raine was getting closer I had to put distance between me and Silan. I turned to run but only got a few meters when something sharp pierced my back. Pain shot up my spine as I fell forward hitting the ground hard. Footsteps made their slow way towards me. The blade was pulled from my spine. Using her foot she rolled me over. The first thing I saw were her eyes the exactly mirror image of my own. They widened in surprise, all I could do was stare as she reached up to slowly lift her mask resting it on her forehead.

"Raine..."

My voice was barely a whisper my body weak as she bent down a horrified look on her face. She seemed so lost. The haunted look in her eyes told me Driaks control over her was halted upon seeing my face.

I cough as blood swelled in my mouth. Raine quickly gathered me up in her arms fear in her eyes. I was fading fast and she knew it. There wasn't time she needed to know the truth. She needed the key to her power before it was lost forever. With the last of my strength I found my voice.

"Raine you have to take my power before it's gone forever."

She shook her head confused.

"I don't understand who are you? What power?"

"Raine please there's no time to explain you have to take my power or Driak will destroy us all."

At the mention of Driaks name she flinched his control over her starting to return. Using my power I willed her to take it. Her fangs burst out as she bit down on my neck. I felt my power flow from me to her. Once done she pulled back, her eyes glowing silver. Understanding making tears well in her now silver irises as she looked down at me.

"Rix..."

I smiled hearing my name on her lips made my heart soar. Without my power it wouldn't be long now before I'd be gone. I reached up touching her cheek.

"Raine you have to stop him. Your the only one who can."

She shook her head anguish in her eyes.

"You've got it all wrong I'm no hero I've spent a life time killing those I'm meant to protect. I can't do this without you."

My eyes started to close as my life started slipping away. My voice was barely a whisper.

"You...must."

"No! I refuse."

I felt her forehead against mine. My eyes snapped open her power pulling at my soul. No! I can't let her do this. There's no telling what will happen if both our souls inhabit one body.

"The curse has been broken for five hundred years. This was meant to be your chance to be with him. I won't be the reason that it's taken from you. Use my body and my power. Take down my brother and his immortal slave so that you can finally be together."

I tried to resist the pull on my soul tried to stop it but with her power awakened she was too strong.

"Raine...please.....stop!"

Her tears melded with mine as my soul passed from me to her in a shine of bright light. The second my soul entered her body pain erupted. Whether it was pain from her or pain from me I had no idea. The pain itself was like none I had ever felt before. Memories, thoughts, feelings, all of It jumbled together. The pain increased as our souls sent us mad. The force of the turmoil swirling inside us forced our wolves to the surface. The pain of shifting Raines body not knowing which form to take ended up with a mix of something inbetween.

We ran, our paws taking us far away trying to escape the madness. My soul tried to grasp something anything that would save us from this torture. Within the swirling mess that had become our hell a sense of familiarity shone through the chaos. My soul latched on with one thing in mind before it all to disappeared. The pain, the madness everything I just wanted it all to go away. I realised to late that what I grabbed was my power of will. The second my soul connected to my will everything that made us disappeared. My power had obeyed my wish and made it all go away leaving my soul that still clung to my power. I was now an empty shell with no memory and no idea who I was or what had happened. I was empty with no memories and no name. I was just a soul with a body wondering alone and exhausted far from anywhere and anything.
