Chapitre 7: Magic Awakening Potion

Arrluk was able to catch up with Orlon and Redneck just as they were about to enter through the gates of their small wooden hut. They were, after all, carrying heavy stuff on their shoulders.

"Don't tell anybody about what happened in that alley. Forget about it, understood?"

Both of them nodded in understanding. They have been serving the streets for so long. Doing what is necessary for their survival has become second nature to them.

"Boss Arrluk, finally you are back; we were starving," Buggy said, almost drooling at the sight of meat, fruits, and bread when Orlon and Redneck unloaded their bags on the small table.

The kids immediately surrounded the food, but Arrluk told them to wait a few more minutes. He needed to roast the meat on a bonfire and make some sweet sauce to dip it in.

The kids had seen their new boss's ability to earn them so much money in a single day; they had already started following his every command. Especially Orlon and Redneck since Arrluk had saved their lives from Harold in the alley.

"Alright, dig in. You follow me like you did today, and we will have this kind of food every day from now on, maybe even better." Arrluk said as he gave each one of them their portion of meat covered in sweet berry sauce.

"Yes, Boss!" All but one person gave their reply. Tom was always the boss in their group. Therefore, he couldn't stomach calling Arrluk's boss as it made him angry and also jealous.

Arrluk naturally caught on Tom's frowning face as he stuck out like a sore thumb in their group for staying quiet.

"Something on your mind, Tom?" Arrluk asked.

Tom looked up and around him before he opened his mouth, "Yeah, I have something on my mind."

"What is it?" Arrluk asked again.

"Are you all forgetting we need to share our earnings with Jeremy and his gang? They will find out tomorrow or in the coming days about our new way of earning money. They will definitely beat us or even kill one of us for not giving them the protection fees like we always do." Tom scowled.

'That is indeed a huge problem.' thought Arrluk.

Jeremy and his subordinates terrorize the ordinary people living in the slums. They control every orphan who begs, steals, or uses labour to earn their living. Those who don't share their little wealth with Jeremy would find themselves either sold to a slave trader or rotting in some alley of Lys the next day.

In the past, Tom used to give at least thirty to fifty per cent of their earnings to Jeremy so that they can occupy a street without any harassment from them. Sometimes Jeremy and his men also protect them by scaring away merchants running behind them to retrieve their stolen purses or goods.

Denying Jeremy his share of the shell game would only make Arrluk's life difficult and dangerous too.

The boys suddenly felt downtrodden after Jeremy was mentioned.

Arrluk frowned, seeing their sad faces. Arrluk decided he won't give his hard-earned money to others so merely. He needs to think of a solution tonight.

"Tom, don't worry about Jeremy for now. Eat. I will find a way to deal with Jeremy and his people." The last sentence was for everyone so that they can continue eating.

After they were done with their dinner, the kids huddled together to sleep since the air was colder tonight. Arrluk didn't join them; he went to another corner and lay on his makeshift bed to rest for the night.

He waited for an hour until he could hear the other kids snoring before he summoned the blue screen to check his rewards. The first thing he did was to fish out Harold's money purse, and without looking inside, he imagined sacrificing it to the altar. Just like before, a grey light ejected from the bag and shot right into the blue screen.

Basic Sword Mastery

Harold Crawfish Soul

Basic Strength Potion or Intermediate Healing Potion or Magic Awakening Potion

Arrluk looked gobsmacked at the rewards appearing on the screen. Especially the prize mentioned in the second line and third.

Arrluk quickly selected the first two lines since they were the only option and Magic Awakening Potion from the third line since that was obviously the best choice.

First came the Basic Sword Mastery. Like before, Arrluk only felt a slight discomfort in his head. Now, if he had a sword, Arrluk was sure he could wield it without accidentally cutting his own head or arm.

Basically, Arrluk could use it to fight squires who were in their learning phase. Arrluk guessed he would need something like an intermediate sword mastery to fight ordinary knights of Westeros.

"It is better something than nothing. I don't have to waste my time learning the basics." Right after he adjusted to the new knowledge inside his head, another light shot out from the blue screen and drilled inside his head.

Arrluk groaned and bit his lips in pain because the reward was not knowledge but Harold's soul, which contained his memories from birth until his death.

After an unknown amount of time, Arrluk's expressions eased as the pain subsided.

"That was... incredible." Arrluk thought as he once again scanned Harold's memory, stored in his head categorically. It was easy for Arrluk to go through it and experience Harold's life as a third person.

Memories were not the only thing Arrluk gained by fusing with Harold's soul. In fact, by absorbing Harold's soul, Arrluk's own soul has been strengthened by a small margin.

As for what benefits it would bring to him, that can only be known in the future.

Arrluk then looked down at his hands as he felt something falling onto his palm.

Magic Awakening Potion!

A small crystal clear bottle filled with blue liquid quietly lay on his palm, waiting for him to consume it.

Though Arrluk still remembered the taste of the strength potion, it did not stop him from consuming the Magic Awakening Potion since it could make one of his fantasies come true.

Magic!

Who doesn't have dreams to be able to use magic and accomplish unimaginable things with it!

Arrluk swiftly drank all of the blue liquid in one breath.

Arrluk thought it would taste disgusting like the strength potion, but his fears vanished when he felt a sweet, tangy taste lingering on his tongue.

"That wasn't so bad," Arrluk thought as he looked at the empty bottle.

Crack!
