Chapitre 46: Coruscant

"Coruscant. The entire planet is a big city" the Nubian pilot explained as they were coming in to land. "There's Chancellor Valorum's shuttle." rather then telling these things to Anakin as Death had recalled from his first life, the man was instead telling a very curious Salem, who, having come from Remnant and then Tatooine, had never seen a 'city' like this, and had never even thought of it as something conceivable. "And look over there. Someone appears to be waiting for us." the pilot added.

Death, who was behind the pilot and Salem, had Pyrrha to his right and Padme to his left. 'The Queen' was standing with Qui Gon and Obi-Wan. While Death wasn't completely certain about the identity of the man waiting for them, he was 90 percent sure that it was Jedi Master Mace Windu. He had been a huge fan of that character in his last life, so he looked forward to meeting with him. He looked a bit more intimidating then the actor he'd seen in the movie, but there was a bit of similarity.

After successfully landing, the group left the Nubian ship together, and were met by Mace Windu and the Supreme Chancellor Valorum who had just come up next to the Jedi Master while they were disembarking from the Queen's ship.

"Master Windu." Qui Gon greeted the Jedi with a respectful bow, which was copied by Obi-Wan and the group from Naboo, but not by Death, Pyrrha or Salem. "thanks so much for coming. We apprehended a Sith apprentice on Tatooine, and would like to hand him over to the Jedi Council." Qui Gon informed Mace Windu

"That is why you insisted I come meet you?" Mace Windu asked.

"That was my advice." Death stepped forward "We could have delivered a mere apprentice to the Jedi Council without troubling anyone, Master Windu. The reason that I asked Master Qui Gon Jin to contact the council to meet us was in case Senator Sheev Palpatine, alias Darth Sidious, appeared here looking for a fight. I doubt that the Dark Lord of the Sith would be so reckless, but I figured better safe then sorry." Death was already using a device to interfere with recording devices so knew that they would not be spied upon and he could freely warn the Jedi.

"And who might you be?" Mace Windu asked, looking at Death and recognizing that he had a strong connection to the Force.

"My name is Death Rose. I am a visitor from a galaxy far far away. As for what I am... 'There must be both dark and light. I will do what I must to keep the balance, as the balance is what holds all life. There is no good without evil, but evil must not be allowed to flourish. There is passion, yet peace; serenity, yet emotion; chaos, yet order. I am a wielder of the flame, a champion of balance, I am a guardian of life. I am Grey Jedi."

"The Grey Jedi have a secret base on Tatooine." Qui Gon explained to Mace Windu "Master Rose here foresaw my arrival on Tatooine a year ago, including the Sith ambush, and along with five of his order assisted us in apprehending this Sith called Darth Maul, and revealed Sheev Palpatine's plots. Sheev Palpatine is the mastermind behind the Trade Federation's attack on Naboo."

"But Senator Palpatine is from Naboo. How could he conspire against his home?" Chancellor Valorum asked with shock.

"For power, Chancellor Valorum" Death said to the Supreme Chancellor "Sheev Palpatine started by creating fake scandals to weaken your influence in the Galactic Senate. After that, he had the Trade Federation attack Naboo, forcing Queen Amidala to seek your help. However, due to your weakened position here in the Senate, he would have urged Queen Amidala to call for a vote of no confidence in you, using the excuse that the Senate, in times like these, needed a more powerful figure as Supreme Chancellor. When she did that, he would have had an ally ready to nominate him into the Supreme Chancellors position, just in case Queen Amidala did not take the initiative to nominate him first. Once he had your position, the Sith would become more active in the Republic, leading to Sheev Palpatine calling for 'emergency powers' to deal with 'threats to the galaxy' until he was ready to completely seize the rest of the power and turn the Republic into an empire completely under his thumb. He would have subtly and gradually weakened the Jedi Order and become a tyrant without anyone realizing what had happened until it was too late."

Chancellor Valorum looked pissed. After all, he had no idea who was behind all the phony scandal's he had been subjected too for the past year or so, and he had always considered Sheev Palpatine a friend, so this was a huge betrayal to him.

"That certainly does sound like a scheme that a Sith would come up with." Mace Windu agreed, then looked at the Chancellor "Chancellor Valorum. Please allow the Jedi to handle this. If Sheev Palpatine is a Sith Lord then he's not something that you can handle on your own. This is one of the things that the Jedi exist to handle."

The fake 'Queen Amidala' stepped up then "Master Jedi. I hope that the Jedi Order, as well as the Republic, can help us to deal with the Trade Federation blockade. I understand that in the start it was not a matter that the Jedi could not get wholly involved in, but now that it is known to be a Sith scheme, I hope that the Jedi Council will reconsider and aide in liberating my planet."

"I will bring it before the Jedi Council along with the Sith prisoner. Could one of you lead me to this Darth Maul?" Mace Windu asked.

"Salem, would you please show the Master Jedi to where the prisoner is locked up and then return to my side." Death requested of the cute blue-eyed blond-haired girl.

"Alright, father." Salem agreed and turned to head back towards the ship.

------

Mace Windu was surprised when a little girl was asked to lead him to the prisoner. He had thought that she was Death's Padawan, so hearing her call him father came as another surprise. Even so, he started following the girl "Is he really your father?" Mace Windu asked her with curiosity as he walked.

"No, we share no blood. I was a baby with no family and Father adopted me, therefore he is my father." Salem answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Mace Windu nodded in acceptance of her explanation "What do you think about your father?" he knew that the girl would not be impartial, but still thought that he might get some useful information from her.

Salem pondered that question a few seconds without stopping before she answered "Father is the greatest hero ever. Before father came to my world, Remnant, it had been at war for many ten's of thousands of years against soulless abominations called the Creatures of Grimm. Father defeated the mindless destroyers and brought true peace to the world for the first time in ever, and helped to set up a stable society in the absence of such a force of destruction. Father said if it was handled improperly, then greedy people would seize power and create a fragmented society and start killing each other." she paused a bit from walking and turned to look at Mace Windu "I know you are not sure whether or not you can trust father, but after creating a stable government on my world, father came here to save this Galaxy. And he says after we save this Galaxy that there are other worlds and Galaxies in need of saving. Father is a hero among heroes."

Mace Windu was a bit taken aback by the girls confident declaration and the fanatical gleam in her eyes as she looked him in the eyes. From what he could discern, the people of Salem's world were long suppressed by these 'Creatures of Grimm' that she mentioned and that her father apparently dealt with them all, or at least most of them.

After tens of thousands of years, the people finally had breathing room, and in that moment when one would expect despots to take advantage and seize power, her 'father' prevented it.

"So your father is the ruler of your world?" Mace Windu asked Salem.

Salem shook her head "Nuh uh. Father wanted no such responsibility. He created a council, giving each of the five kingdoms 200 seats, with those seats being given not to the wealthy, but to the intellectuals, though merit and character are also a factor. The current Supreme Chancellor of Remnant is Uncle Oobleck. Again, no blood ties, but he is a good and brilliant man. The senate meets twice a year, rotating between meeting in each of the five Kingdoms. Father encouraged them to see themselves as citizens of Remnant rather then as separate Kingdoms."

"How did your father pull that off?" Mace Windu asked her, wondering if one man could really do that much.

"Most of the old Council's were pressured into standing down, but a few of the old tyrants did resist. Father made those bad, ambitious men disappear, not wanting a few bad apples to stir up rebellion and destroy the society he had helped to build. That was only a couple people, though, and they were all bad people, like I said, so it was for the greater good that they vanished. I am talking about people that were killers and slavers and did things like that. They had a history of exploiting their power and influence at the expense of others." Salem explained to Mace Windu and shrugged "Father is not afraid to get his hands a bit dirty if it will help innocent people." after declaring that, she turned and resumed leading Mace Windu to where Darth Maul was locked up.

Mace Windu had a lot to think about while following the adorable little girl named Salem.

Less then a minute later, they came to a door and Salem opened it, revealing Darth Maul strapped into a gurney, still sedated "Here is the prisoner." she explained while approaching the man.

Mace Windu hastily approached as well, to make sure that the Sith didn't harm little Salem. Though the Sith seemed to be unconscious, Mace Windu was taking no chances.

"You are taking him to the Jedi Council, right?" Salem asked.

When Mace Windu nodded, Salem grabbed his arm, then touched Darth Maul, and used space magic to suddenly teleport the three of them into the Jedi Council Chamber, greatly surprising the surrounding Masters and Mace Windu "Okay, the Sith prisoner is delivered, so I'll be returning to father" Salem declared before teleporting again, leaving Mace Windu and Darth Maul behind.

"Much to report, you have?" Grandmaster Yoda asked.

"I do." Mace Windu verified, then relayed the situation to the rest of the Jedi Council, including what he had learned from Salem.
