Chapitre 21: C21. Elemental Practical Class

(POV Shift to 3rd Person.)

(MC will be addressed as Lenso instead of Sen.)

——

"Being able to use the power of the element is a gift." A woman's voice penetrated through the large echoey classroom, "The ability to shape the world, to gather the mana within our hands and release it as something different,"

The woman raised her arm, slowly squeezing her hand, and opening it back up to reveal a small flame.

"The dexterity to shape it," She clicked her finger, shaping the flame into an arrow shape, "Mold it," She clicked her finger again, this time revealing a small flame archer figure, "and command it," she pointed a finger to her right.

TSSSSK the tiny flame archer shot its bow, the arrow flying into a small target located around 100m away.

Bullseye, it hit and begun burning the entire target down.

"Today, we'll be learning to mold your elements." The woman turned back to the class with a smile, her painted red lip arching into a smile.

She began walking towards the students, "To mold is to imagine, to think and create. Close your eyes." She directed the class,

Everybody shut their eyes.

"Now imagine something simple. A rectangle." The professor said, roaming around the class with her hands in her pockets, "Create that rectangle in your head. Think about the 4 corners, the straight edges. If it's clear in your head, raise your hand."

A few arms raise, but the majority did not,

"Take your time," The professor assured, slowly looking around at the raised hands, her eyes locking onto a boy who stood in the middle, her smirk widen a bit more as she slowly walked towards his direction.

"Now, gather your mana into your palm," She instructed after seeing more and more hands rise, "Use that shape you imaged like a stencil. Mold it into its shape."

By the time she had completed speaking she had arrived in front of the boy, her eyes looking greedily at him. She quickly glanced around the room, making sure everyone's eyes were tightly shut before reaching into her pocket and taking out a small vial with black-looking smoke trapped within it.

Silently popping open the lid, she directed the opening towards the boy and watched it soak into his body with a satisfied look.

"If you've been able to shape your mana into the shape, activate it and release your element," she placed the vial back in her pocket and continued to teach her class as if nothing had just happened,

Instantly, a giant 2-meter long pond of water appeared above their head, the shape vaguely looking like that of a rectangle.

"Sara!" The professor turned around, pinpointing the culprit without hesitation,

"Oops…" her tiny mumble came out in response, she quickly waved her hand in the air and canceled the spell.

"Try making it smaller next time," the professor let out a pitied smile, giving an example of the size she wanted, "Like that one," Suddenly spotting a flame rectangle among the row of students, "Palmer, good job," She congratulated, with a small clap.

"Thank you, Professor Sylis." Palmer dispersed the spell and rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.

Palmer then looked over to the boy beside him, Lenso still attempting to cast his spell.

"Ah. Is this better?" Sara suddenly spoke out, a rectangle of water floating in front of her, the size reduced significantly, but the shape still very wonky.

"Sara, try pinpointing the 4 corners and drawing the straight line from one point to the other, that way, it wouldn't have so much curved and wonkiness." Professor Sylis advised,

"Understood, ma'am!" Sara tried again, her eyebrows frowning together as she attempted to concentrate.

"Oh, I think I got it." Lenso's voice suddenly interrupted the conversation as he slowly opened his eyes, a light green breeze running around in a rectangular pattern.

"Ah, I've got it too!" Sara's excited tone rang out, showing off a perfect water rectangle before her.

"Lenso! Sara! Very good!" Professor praised, clapping her hands, "Now that you three have gotten the hang of it, you can try some more complicated shapes. Try forming an arrow."

The 3 listened and nodded, closing their eyes and doing as instructed whilst the rest of the class began successfully forming their rectangles.

——

A few dozen seconds later, all 3 of them began opening their eyes one after another, an arrow-shaped element floating in front of them.

"Now, fire them." Professor Sylis instructed pointing at the targets in the target range where her target had been burnt to ashes.

The 3 of them released their arrows simultaneously, the sound of air being sliced and a small thud on the other end.

"Palmer! Great shot!" Professor Sylis nodded, seeing that 1 out of the 3 arrows shot had hit its target, "Go again,"

The 3 of them begun forming their arrows once more, this time the arrow forming process becoming shorter.

TSSSSINGGG

THUD

THUD

Both Lenso's and Palmer's arrows hit the target, only Sara's completely missing by a long shot.

"Gahhh!" She groaning in frustration, immediately closing her eyes and generating another in front of her, and shooting it out.

Miss.

"God damn it!" Sara tried again, this time aimed more to the left.

Miss.

Miss.

Miss.

"This…mother-" She began to curse after her 8th shot, all of them missing horribly, "If I can't do accuracy, then what about this?!"

She began creating 3 arrows at the same time, launching them all at the target, one of them finally hit.

"Ah!" She turned around to face the Professor, "I did it!" She screeched, jumping up in the air like an over-enthusiastic cartoon character.

"Very good, Sara," Sylis patted Sera's head with a smile, "Finding out your weakness and thinking of a way to overcome it. Perfectly done."

Sara crossed her arms with pride as she turned back to Lenso and Palmer with an arrogant look, resulting in a scoff from Lenso and a glare of jealousy from Palmer.

"I can do it too!" Palmer declared, instantly summoning 5 arrow-shaped flames and firing them all at a target, all 5 hitting the bullseye. "See?" He smirked, with his hands crossed.

"Ahem…Alright, everyone," Sylis let out a nervous chuckle and clapped her hands to gather everyone's attention, "I'll get everyone off early because of the exam, go rest up, and don't forget to practice. None of your classes will be running tomorrow. Use that time to freshen up and prepare. Oh, and I'll like Lenso to please stay behind for a bit." Professor Sylis announced, resulting in cheers and sighs of relief from the students.

"Now go," She waved her hand at them, shooing them away before locking eyes with Lenso.
