Troublesome

It made sense. I mean, what kind of person one has to be to let their family member go out with a random person? I know for a fact that he is the little girl's real grandfather; by real, I mean the love and concern for each other is real; I don't know if she's his biological granddaughter or not. Anyway, the love can be seen in their eyes. People can't fake that sort of feeling.

So, in conclusion, he has a skill that lets him know that I'm not a danger to his granddaughter by any means. Hmm, maybe it's some kind of skill where a person can detect malice? Wait a minute. What is this familiar feeling all of a sudden?

[You know if you're so concerned about that, maybe you should just ask him. Who knows… maybe that isn't much of a big secret, and he'll reveal it to you almost immediately.]

{Well, nah… We'll do that later. I was worried about him being an abuser or something, but now I know that isn't the case, I'll deal with the rest later. For now, let me just take this kid around for lunch.}

I entered the said restaurant with good reviews. I remember this place being some kind of meeting place for people. Like, I even got several quests from this place. This place is really nostalgic. I remember hearing the NPCs say that the food here is really great, but never would've thought that I would get a chance to taste the stuff personally.

Anyway, I took a glance at Su, and she was beaming so much that I thought that I would end up blind if I continued looking at her. I asked her to order something, but she kept muttering the names of the cheap stuff and calculated the total cost of the three-course meal and stuff. Geez, you're a kid! Enjoy the moment, will ya? And I'm the one spending. You don't have to worry about it! This child and her nice heart… To think that she'd end up as a cannon fodder to the main characters. Ha… My heart aches...

So, since she couldn't decide on what to eat, I took it up on my own hands and ordered her a children's meal. However, she seemed like she didn't like my choice and kept saying that she's a grown woman with a cute pout. The contrast is amazing though. I couldn't even see a trace of the mature main lead that I saw in the opera hall in this kid. Well, I guess that makes her one hell of an actress… Actress… Why do I feel like I'm missing something glaringly obvious here?

[See, this is what I told you? You feel it too, right? Like, you know her, but you really don't…]

Goldy kept his silence after giving out that ominous message. He was right. Although I don't remember this kid, something about her is worrying me.

"What is it?" Su looked at me and asked. She looked worried. I guess my face showed my emotions. Ah… Why is she worrying about what I think? Why did she come here for lunch with me when she isn't aware of who I am? Does she also have a malice detection skill? How can you be so comfortable around a complete stranger. I remember when I was her age… I couldn't bother going out with my family. A total stranger was completely out of the question.

These thoughts kept pestering me all along the time up until the food came. I cleared my thoughts and was about to eat the food when I noticed Su eating. I worried that those thoughts would've polluted my thoughts, however a dose of Su's cuteness got rid of that for me. Oh, a child's cuteness sure is deadly.

Although she showed her displeasure when I ordered the children's meal, she looked happy eating it. Now that I think about it, I'm technically still a child in this world, right? I should enjoy a children's meal someday. At least, people won't be weirded out if I do that now.

Anyway, after having lunch, we headed out for a bit of shopping. I mean, I wanna see her in cute clothes. Damn, I should've brought Ao here as well. Imagine them two walking side by side. I would actually faint if such a thing happens.

So, I took her to a clothes shop and tried all sorts of dresses on her and bought a few that looked good on her. Then I bought one for Ao as well. I made Su my model for Ao's clothes since she had a similar stature to him. Well, that's until Ao turns into the most handsome side character in any game…. To think that he'd grow way taller than me someday is concerning to say the least. He won't be hugging me like he does now. He won't even bash an eye towards me when time comes. Damn, that'd be pretty sad if he actually cuts all ties with me and the family and joins the Blood Moon sect for the war…

It seems like I made a weird face again, because when I snapped back into reality, I saw Su tugging my clothes, looking just as concerned as before. I patted her head and said I'm fine. That's when she finally got relieved.

After going deep into the shopping district, we went out on a shopping spree. It was so intense that I was actually worried that I'd be blowing my entire fortune here. As if she heard my thoughts, she said that she got some money as well that she'd like to spend. What a bright child, huh? Wait!

{Goldy, you have the clairvoyant skill, right?}

[Hmm, calling it a skill. It's an extension of a skill, but yea. I do.]

{So, what are the chances that Su and her grandfather have that skill?}

[Almost close to nil. They have to be some great warriors for such a thing to happen.]

I silently gulped. If we're to consider strength by his standards, then yes, I would've to run. Anyway, I stared at him checking Su out, while bringing out the most awkward smile in history. I will work on my poker face when I return. I mean, even little kids are reading my emotions from my face. I anxiously waited for positive news from Goldy.

He took his hand off her back and looked at me.

I sighed upon hearing Goldy's verdict. At least she's normal. That's the more important part. Anyway, with that we got back to our shopping.

An antique shop. She stared at a unique looking cane. She looked as if she wanted it. I guess it's for the grandpa.

"Do you want it?" I asked.

"Yea, for my grandfather. He's growing old, you see… When mom and dad left this place forever, he was the only one who stood by my side. He cooked food, he earned money, he did everything. I couldn't do a single thing for him. However, now that I got some money for myself, I'd like to buy something for him after all this time…" She replied before staring at the cane for the longest time. I mean, the story sure is tear-jerking, but are you REALLY sure about saying something like this to a random human. Again, this granddad and granddaughter sure are unique.

"People say that Grandpa Sui is scary and stuff for some reason, but I don't know why they say stuff like that! He is the sweetest person in the world!" She cried.

"Sure, kid! Let's buy the cane for Grandpa Sui." I smiled as I patted her head again. Wait a minute! Grandpa Sui, as in Sui Jiang? By gawd, Su… Are you actually Sui Wenyan? Why would you derive a nickname from your family name? Ah… This is troublesome…

I was today years old when I learned that Sui is a family name. I thought Wenyan was the family name. Had I known, I would named her young miss Yan or something. Well, what's done is done. Let's see where this goes.
