Chapitre 184: Winter returns (3)

Both the warrior in blue encased by the icy domain as well as the warrior in red encased by the fiery domain seem to experience a huge power-up.

"The element around them matches their own elemental affinity and creates a synergy, doesn't it?"

"That does seem to be the case. They are a well-put-together team of adventurers after all. It would be a shame if they had no synergistic effects."

Still, they seem so overpoweringly strong. Can I ever beat that?

The glowing bald guy has now reached Darwin and swings out his flanged mace that crackles with electric currents accumulating around it.

The mace is carrying a scary power that could kill me with one touch and yet Darwin seems wholly unfazed by the deadly weapons approaching him. He doesn't even seem to be paying much attention to it. He gives it a quick once over before returning his attention to the other two powered-up warriors that are swiftly approaching despite the spatial expansion slowing them down.

"How dare you ignore me! I'll crush you into a pulp, you fat disgrace!"

The bald guy is completely enraged by Darwin's nonchalance and with his shout, the pressure coming from his mace increases by another fold and a vortex of lightning begins to spin around the flanged mace head.

The vortex of lightning repels the air as it descends and produces a shrill screeching noise. Moments before it reaches Darwins chest the lightning starts to sputter out as if someone pulled the plug.

The mace keeps moving and hits Darwin's belly. However, there is no gushing wound as one would expect.

The flanged mace sinks into Darwin's belly for a bit as if it hit a rubbery substance and is then bounced right back. How is that even possible?

Flanged maces are meant to inflict cuts as well as blunt trauma. This one did neither! Not to mention that there had been that lightning vortex spinning around menacingly.

The bald guy is also baffled by the lack of damage his mace caused. He looks at the weapon that is still glowing slightly with the purple lightning core in the center sending arcs of electricity chasing along the blades every now and then.

Seeing that there is no problem with his weapon the bald guy smashes it into the floor and creates a small ditch.

"What's with this thing? It works just fine now."

"Did you have to break the floor? That's not cheap to repair, you know?"

Darwin still acts as of he isn't surrounded by level 200 adventurers who want to end his life.

The other two warriors had slowed down after seeing Darwin take that lightning-clad mace attack like it was nothing but now they were speeding up again. Like ancient feral beasts, they roared and swung their weapons.

Alongside them, the spells arrive with intense power flooding the area around Darwin in an elemental nightmare where fire and ice clash constantly.

The bald guy looks regretful but retreats to avoid being caught inside the two clashing spells. It would seem that he isn't able to benefit from being within the spell's range like the other two.

Now Darwin looks to be a tad more serious as he is assaulted from both sides by attacks that have been powered and are still supported by heavy magical attacks following close behind them.

Still, despite paying attention to them, Darwin makes no move to stop, block or evade their attacks.

The flaming hammer arrives first and hits Darwin's shoulder with an impact force that could crush this building. Upon impact, the red hot glowing metal hammerhead faces the same fate as the mace before it. It plunges into the skin and is bounced back without causing much damage.

The war hammer made of a creature's fang produces similar results as it crashes into Darwin's hip after a diagonal upper smash.

However, the red-haired warrior doesn't get completely bounced back. He is the third one to attack so he knows the most and is more prepared for Darwin's weird defense.

Using the rebounding force of his war hammer he spins on his heel while switching his grip on the hammer. Now the sharp part of the fang is in front and gets jammed into Darwin's chest with even greater force than before.

The rebound effect still happens and the warrior is forced back but a shallow puncture wound on Darwin's shoulder can be seen. It is only the size of a marble, heals quickly and completely disappears within seconds but they did wound him.

"What ability is that? How does he take so little damage?"

I'm quite curious about how Darwin does it and since there is a silencing barrier between us asking Navi shouldn't be a problem. She seems to take a moment, probably asking Darwin for permission, before opening her mouth to answer me.

"This effect is produced by three separate factors. Firstly, the bouncing effect is caused by Darwin's anatomical structure. Secondly, the main reason why he can shrug of most attacks especially elemental ones is that he has a skill called omni immunity. It negates a high percentage of every kind of damage Darwin takes. Lastly, the remaining damage that isn't negated by his skill is met with a constitution stat that is as ridiculous as Darwin's other abilities. If that war hammer wasn't made with the fang of an ice dragon it wouldn't even have managed to pierce his skin."

Wow, how high does a stat need to be for a being like Navi to call it ridiculous? 500? 800?

"Not even close, Darwin easily surpasses a thousand."

1000? That's three zeros... And he surpasses that...

Meanwhile, the enemy has also realized that they managed to overcome Darwin's defenses and deal damage to him. The damage is negligible and it won't change the outcome of this battle but they probably don't realize this.

"He must have some kind of resistance to blunt attacks! Let's hit him with piercing and cutting attacks instead!"
