Chapitre 24: White Lies

A silence provoked by self-consciousness immediately ensued once Histoire entered the car, safe for the roaring of the engine as the chauffeur drove out of the driveway and rolled onto Carelsen Street. There was doubt that this peaceful silence would last longer because she anticipated a stream of questions that needed much careful consideration to come her way.

"How long have you been intimate with Deus?" Ines asked insouciantly, yet emotion was overtly written on her facial features. The question arrived no more than a second after the car exited the driveway, which meant she could not contain her need to have her curiosities appeased any more.

Histoire glanced at the rear view mirror and saw a pair of dark eyes watching her. They soon averted to the road but that short moment was enough to leave an impact on her. They were a pair of insignificant eyes that belittled her and lowered her confidence.
