The last few months have been bliss. I can easily call them the best days of my life. Between meeting Michael, seeing my parents one last time, and reuniting with Sara, I have come to enjoy the small amount of freedom I was given.

When I first came back to my hometown, I wanted to go back. Back to the days of willing to my master's rule, back to the days of beatings and nonstop pain. Back to the days of feeling as though any moment my life could end. But now, now I see how much those moments of working through all my frustration and agony has bettered me as a person.

Glancing up, I make eye contact with the driver once again. His eyes are hidden behind the wall of sunglasses he wears but seeking out his gaze would be pointless. He wouldn't help me, no one could.
